NN 20/20 with Hugh Downs 10/6/89 Talk with Patty Duke,
a recovering manic-depressive, who traces her battle
with the disorder to her childhood: her father was an
alcoholic and her mother suffered from depression.
Duke had to cope with intense mood swings, ranging
from delusions of grandeur to suicide attempts. "There
would usually be a manic and a depressive cycle every
three or four months," she recalls, "the depressive end
lasting much longer, the deep black hole." (From TV
Guide). Approx 15-20 minutes.
