This is slightly off topic, but it seems to me that in general,Nikki gets along better with men than with women.Katherine being an exeption of course.Nikki even seems to get along better with her son than with her daughter.Does anyone agree?

That is a good observation. I think because maybe Nikki doesn't feel threatened by men as much as she does the women she comes in contact with. I think Katherine being the exception, is because Katherine is not a threat to Nikki, she is a friend who hasn't tried to undermind Nikki in some way. I think with Victoria and Nikki's relationship, it is just typical mother/daughter tension.

This was a great question, and certainly not off topic, since this is the Y&R board, and we are talking about the show. :)

Looks good! Are you going to collect all the pictures? Who cares about winning money!;)

About today's show:

:clap  All Right Brad! About time he stopped putting up with Ashley's crap.

So do you think Damon with thrash Dominic, or do you think that some of that Eastern philosophy stuff he was practicing might actually come through for him in a pinch?
That said, why didn't Phyllis ask someone like Victor or someone else to come along with them, ...just in case?!
I guess you don't really think about these things in a crisis though.

 That's what I was thinking! I wanted to get one of each, so I would have them all. I wouldn't want to turn in the ticket if I won (a small amount that is!) So far I have Nikki and Jack. There is also a bonus contest that goes along with it. You can enter 2 losing tickets to win a chance to go to the Y&R set to meet the cast. :)

I hate to see Brad and Ashley's marriage end, but yeah, it was definitely time for him to step up and do something! Let her go on and fantasize some more about Victor! I guess we will have to see what happens with Damon. I have no clue what he would do. And what does everyone think will end up happening with Brittany and JT? Do you think the wedding will still go on?

Yeah, she has it pretty good. Of course, I can understand how she might think that her life is a little ho-hum, especially after all the drama with Cameron Kirsten. They say that after life-or-death ordeal, people sometimes have trouble readjusting to a routine after they've had that adrenaline rush.

Okay, but she is constantly doing this, she walked off from her kids, almost had an affair with Victor. I mean this girl has some serious problems and Nick still comes running.

And did Ashley actually think that by telling Victor that she left Brad that he would say, "....oh good let me leave Nikki and then we can be the family that you always wanted." She must have felt like a fool.

I think Ashley needs to be fitted for a straight jacket. And then go book a padded room somewhere. She's gone a little off the deep end again.

Here's some cast news from the Nov. 9 issue of SOD. And a SPOILER about Damon.

Despite Web buzz--and his character's near-death experience this week--Keith Hamilton Cobb (Damon) is sticking around Genoa City. "Damon's past comes to the present, and these events move the story in a new direction in December," teases Executive Producer/Head Writer Jack Smith.

Who's Going

Eric Braeden (Victor)--Don't worry, he's just taking a vacation. Braeden will be off-screen from November 12 through December 1.

David Hedison (Arthur Hendricks)--The judge's jig is up on November 29.

Kin Shriner (Harrison Bartlett)--Shriner's limited run comes to an end this month.

Thanks Huntington! I don't mind the spoiler! I'm like a kid at Christmas I want to open my presents now! LOL:lol:

I was hoping maybe Kin Shriner would stick around. They could do something with his character.

CCRYDER, I thought it was so funny when Ash was talking to Victor, and she said to him, "....well you and Nikki are having problems," or when she said to Victor that she knew he care for her because she could see it in his eyes everytime he looked at her, and she thought that meant he would come running to her. Oh my gosh Ashley that was too funny! But it serves her right, because of her thinking she could take Victor away from Nikki.

Brad and Ashley's split was pretty recent. Ashley admitted to him that she loved Victor...and she then expected Victor to drop everything in his life for her. And yes, Brittany is now married.

CC, I agree with you. What Vic did was wrong, Neal didn't deserve to be demoted. I just felt that his character had his karma coming back at him.;) I agree that Nick, tells Vic off and the next thing he is handed the reigns again.

I knew this would eventually come, and that it was only a matter of time, but it still disappoints me...

From SOD:

Y&R'S VAN ARK SETS SAIL

Joan Van Ark (Gloria) has opted to leave Y&R. Her last tape date is set for the end of this month, and she is expected to air through December. The role will be recast.

"It's true," confirms Executive Producer/Head Writer Jack Smith, who adds that the parting is amicable. "We love Joan. She is such an honest, open, wonderful, sweet person. She has no attitude at all. She's not a diva."

While Smith offered no explanation for the surprise announcement except to say that it was entirely the actress's decision, inside sources indicate that the workload involved was not what Van Ark envisioned when she originated the role of Michael and Kevin's man-hungry mama in April of this year. At that time, Van Ark told Digest, "This ain't a piece of cake. This is a tough job. The pace is very fast...but if I can come in and stir it up, Gloria will have been worth it."

But on a better note...

Lyndsy Fonseca (Colleen) returns! Fan fave Fonseca comes home for the holidays. "She's thrilled to be going back to the set," states a rep for the actress. Fonseca's first tape date is November 24, which gets her back to Genoa City just in time for Christmas.

Simple... she should go back to her plan(? don't know if it was a plan, but I know she was thinking about it) to be a stripper!;) That way, she can be home with the kids in the daytime, and Nick can take care of them at night.
...And then we'll also get to see her "at work".

Well, now that is a great solution!!!

It actually might not be the worst thing that she could do. I feel kind of bad for her getting this job the way she did. And boy is she going to be pissed, and embarrassed, when she finds out that Nick has been paying them to give her a job.ohno:

I can't remember if Dru had a paternity test done or not. Sorry I can't help. I've been wondering the same thing.

Even though I know that Catherine appointed Jack CEO of Chancellor Industries mostly to spite Jill, I also think that Jack is a much better choice than Jill to run the company anyway. I mean, Jack figured out that Elliot Hampton was up to no good just from the few hours he spent going over the records. That's pretty good. That and he is used to running a company. I'd say Catherine made a great choice! What do you think? Should Catherine have picked Jack or Jill?

Katherine definitely made the better choice of choosing Jack. He has more experience and a better business mind. Not that Jill wouldn't get the job done, but I agree that Jack is the better choice of the two. I don't blame Jill for being upset with Jack, though.

So does Dru not want Malcolm around because:
A. She doesn't know if Neil is Lily's father and thinks it might be Malcolm and she doesn't want to have questions raised and possibly ruin her marriage?
Or
B. She has a thing for Malcolm and doesn't want to ruin her marriage herself by giving into her fantasy(which women on Y&R seem prone to do)?

I think he is trying to show everyone that he is a big boy and doesn't need anyone's help. Which is a mistake. He could be a pretty decent CEO but he has a stubborn streak just like his father. Athough in business Victor at least usually knows when not to be stubborn, except of course when it has something to do with his hatred of Jack!;)
I think Neil was a good choice to be CEO and Victor should have kept him there, at least until Nick gained a little more experience in that role! Now due to Nick's stubbornness, Newman enterprises is going to suffer I think.

I'm surprised! I figured someone might pick Malcolm if only because when he came back to Genoa City the first thing he did was practice on the speed-bag(or was that the heavy-bag?).
Although I too picked Damon because he's a big, strong guy and if he has been practicing meditation and all he probably has also been practicing Tai-Chi or even a deadlier martial art, so he would know how to "flow" with the fight.
That, and I still love how he tossed that scum-bag Alex(?) across the room like a rag doll!:D

The Best & Worst of 2004

This is from Soap Opera Digest's annual Best & Worst list. These are the categories that won for Y&R:

Best Couple: Victor and Nikki

Worst Wedding: Bobby and Brittany

Most Entertaining Duo: Phyllis and Drucilla

Best Social Issue: Foster Care, Y&R

Best Brothers: Michael and Kevin

Best Show: Y&R!!!!!

This is what they had to say about the best show:

Last year, Y&R commandeered our Best Show category, and it receives this accolade yet again by continuing to deliver intricately woven plots, smart dialogue and characters whose integrity is fiercely protected.

Of course we all knew that Y&R was the best anyway!

I liked how they tricked Michael to get into the spirit but I had to wonder why a brilliant lawyer like him couldn't figure out what was going on. I mean, first Noah asks him to hang up the stocking; then Cassie asks him to help her with the present; and Victor has seemingly disappeared into a vortex;) . Oh, well, maybe he was too busy concentrating on how he was going to get out of there to think about it.

Here's some previews in an interview from the Co-Head writers:

VC: Can you tell the viewers one or two of the main themes you will be exploring on the show in 2005?

ALDEN: One thing that will continue into the new year in a huge way will be the mixing up of business and family. For the first time, Chancellor Industries will be a player. Maybe Jack will be able to use his position at Chancellor Industries to shake things up in a way that's not been done before. He will be able to finally compete with the all-powerful Victor Newman. Ashley will make some moves that will totally throw everyone in her family and continue to keep her in a difficult place with Brad. The Newman storyline with Nick, finally feeling like he is in charge and retaining control of Newman Enterprises will ultimately build to an event of extreme emotional, personal and familial impact that will ripple throughout the show. This will happen within the first half of 2005. One of the things Jack and I are committed to is really concentrating on re-assessing Y&R and making sure the human, family values and relationships are continuing to be the kinds of stories that hold our viewers' interest.

JACK SMITH: Brad and Sharon are characters you don't see together often and they were really rather good [in their recent scenes] so there may be some interesting things we do there. The new Victoria will be mixing it up with some new and different characters in a romantic way as well. Gloria, who has an even greater interest in her husband's company has her own agenda now that she is Mrs. John Abbott. As far as how long we can hold off John finding out about Michael and Kevin being Gloria's sons – I think that story is going to continue through out late winter or early spring, 2005.

VC: What complications will Brittany and Bobby face in their new marriage?

ALDEN: We will really see a lot of emergence in Brittany as a young woman in a marriage that is difficult because the people in it don't seem compatible. I hope the viewers will see that there is something very special about these two together, in the way they try to take care of each other. J.T. sees that but he still thinks Bobby is the wrong guy for her.

VC: Every once in a while, Kevin makes a creepy reference to wanting to burn something down when he gets really frustrated. Will Kevin ever be someone you reform or do you want him to keep his edge?

ALDEN: The perception that we have had is that many viewers have become very out of patience with Kevin – to a point that is of concern to us as writers because he is such a valuable and potentially identifiable character. Realistically this is a person who has a kind of scar that he can't completely eradicate. He can learn how to control the [behaviors], overcome them but not get rid of them. With a character like this he is never going to be goody-two-shoes. He is never going to be over the abuses of the past. The potential for him to slip and do something a little nuts is very definitely always going to be there.

VC: Viewers are split between wanting Jill and Kay to be at their throats and liking the mother-daughter sweetness between them. What is on the canvas for these two?

ALDEN: In the vast majority of cases when a relationship has been defined over many, many years, in a particular way, even if something very new is discovered and may change the tone of the relationship momentarily, more often then not that relationship will return to its tried and true pattern. That would suggest that Kay and Jill will not be able to regain the closeness they managed to share for a brief period of time when they had gotten beyond the horror and anathema of being mother and daughter and were able to enjoy each other. That was a delightful period for both of them. But as writers we feel, over time, that dynamic between them will be very difficult to sustain. A new level will always be there because of the discovery that they are mother and daughter. It will never be as easy for either of them to discount or dismiss the other and the antipathy or conflict will in some ways be always more painful because it involves a familial, blood connection.

VC: There are lots of fans who are hoping to see Michael in a good relationship. Will their dreams for Michael come true in 2005?

ALDEN: We will certainly continue to see Michael and Lauren together. They are two people whom when you put them together something emerges that we as writers, didn't expect. There is something quite special there and we know the viewers are reacting to them as well. We want to see where this relationship can take us.

VC: In 2004, Nikki went through a very emotional discovery about her past. Will there still be ripples felt about this in 2005?

ALDEN: Yes, there will be impact. If you think about 2004, it's been a heck of a year for Nikki. Going into the next year, she is a person who in many ways is on more solid ground having come to terms with more relationship issues. One reality that we deal with is that the Nikki/Victor relationship appears to be strong enough to withstand almost anything but there is undoubtedly a continuing, lingering residual from Nikki's past and how it connects her to Bobby.

VC: Why are Nikki and Bobby so drawn to each other?

ALDEN: There is a similarity in the kind of life they've lived. They both came from unhappy backgrounds of disadvantage as children. I also think there is a strange connection that exists because of the tragedy in which they were both embroiled and neither knew it, the center of which is Bobby's brother. It's a connection that happens when you are pulled into a tragedy of major significance that is not of your own making. You find yourself in such a deep emotional pitch with people that you wouldn't have expected. Bobby sees something in Nikki that Victor saw years ago when he was freer. Back then Victor did not have the kind of social, political and economic power that he has now. He was open to appreciate the freedom that was Nikki at that time. Nikki and Victor have melded together as a powerful, dynamic, socialite couple. In that process, some of the freedom that was Nikki has been lost. Bobby pulls those freedoms out of Nikki.

VC: Nick has finally assumed the helm of Newman Enterprises. Will he be there for long?

ALDEN: Nick is in control of his own fate, or so he believes and he is going to grab hold with a strong firm hand, not wanting to give his father any reason to return.

SMITH: It's going to be story that pits him against both his father and his sister and Sharon is going to be in the middle of it. Victoria will most definitely play a major role although we aren't yet sure of when Victoria is coming back.

VC: Victor could not return Ashley's feelings for him. What will Ashley do next?

SMITH: Ashley is going to be very involved in the Jabot story and with Victor. I can't tell you how exactly, but the relationship between Ashley and Victor takes a different turn and it becomes a much stronger professional relationship although there are those who doubt that, Jack specifically.

VC: Ashley and Paul have had some interesting encounters.

ALDEN: Their scenes are fascinating. These are two people who have had the experience of deluding themselves, seeing the world as they believed it to be and who have followed that path and gotten nailed because of it. Paul and his obsession regarding Christine and Ashley believing what she wanted to be true about Victor. Certainly, Paul's crisis is not gone from his mind but we don't have any active plans to explore it. There was no conscious goal to move [Paul and Ashley toward a romance] but the chemistry was interesting and they are long term characters who have rarely crossed path accept for the fact that a long time ago Paul's sister was married to Ashley's brother in a disastrous relationship. So, there is a connection between them from our roots.

VC: Are there any more surprises coming our way regarding Malcolm? Will he and Neil ever find a common ground again?

ALDEN: There will definitely be more surprises coming our way. Despite the level of Malcolm's angst, there is a blood tie there that extends beyond any other kind of relationship. In a deep part of Malcolm's soul that fundamental truth exists, although it's hidden from him right now. He is still very angry and hostile. There is no doubt that there will be some kind of rapprochement. Of course we know on the horizon, there looms a very potentially devastating question [that of Lily's paternity] waiting to be answered.

SMITH: Dru has a number of things going. She will have a significant part in a business story over at Newman Enterprises in which Phyllis will be involved as well. There will be huge challenges with Devon and the foster care storyline and then of course she will be involved in Lily's paternity story.

VC: Two sworn enemies are now joining forces: Christine and Phyllis. I've always thought that former spouses should band together instead of locking horns. Will Chris and Phyllis finally bury the hatchet?

SMITH: That story is also going to be one that takes a dramatic turn and Christine and Phyllis will not bury the hatchet. They will find themselves strange bed fellows forced to cooperate in the legal problems Phyllis and Damon face.

VC: Although J.T. still has heart, I think I see the ladies man beginning to reemerge. What is in store for J.T. romantically?

ALDEN: We will have a romance for J.T. There are underlying feelings for Brittany but but we will see him continue to be a true good friend by not badgering her or bringing negativity. J.T. knows her marriage is not going the way she hoped but Brittany is really trying to give herself to this marriage. Whatever feelings exist between J.T. and Brittany are on the back burner but we know they are there. We know that Mackenzie has feelings for J.T. and we know J,T., likes Mackenzie a lot. With Mac living with J.T. in the loft, there is the potential for them to be more than friends. I gotta tell you, whenever we start to write J.T. as a ladies man, we aren't comfortable with it because maybe it was never true. As J.T.'s life has evolved, he has too big a heart to be a ladies guy!

CBS Announces 5-Year Extension for Y&R

In a time when the future of the daytime drama genre appears very much in question, there is a glimmer of hope. CBS has announced that it has renewed The Young and the Restless for an additional five years.

In an announcement made earlier this month, Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, revealed that CBS had reached a deal with Sony Pictures Television to secure the broadcast rights of The Young and the Restless for another five years. While CBS airs Y&R, it is not the owner of the program.

"Y&R has reached out into the hearts of millions of viewers and maintained an unprecedented level of excellence for the daytime genre," said Barbara Bloom, Senior Vice President, CBS Daytime Programs. "We are thrilled to continue our successful partnership."

The Young and the Restless is now in its 32nd year on television and has spent nearly 16 years - a whopping 830-plus consecutive weeks - as the number one program on daytime television.

Huntington, thanks for posting the info. regarding Y&R's upcoming year.

No problem! Here are some more previews from the Jan. 4th Soap Opera Digest:

Victor/Nikki: Victor and Nikki are reunited, but their security is threatened by the fallout of Nikki's devastating secret, and Victor's decision to turn Newman Enterprises over to Nicholas comes back to haunt him. Victor is moving into a different career path, and this is going to be a problem for Nikki. Nikki is bonding with Bobby, so her challenge is going to be her marriage to Victor versus her relationship with Bobby. Something unexpected is going to happen with Bobby's relationship with Brittany that will throw a monkey wrench into this whole dynamic.

The Winterses: A DNA test to determine Lily's paternity will be sent off early in the year, and by February sweeps, the results will come back.

The Abbotts and the Chancellors: We're playing into a big umbrella business story. Jack is going to start to manipulate a situation that is going to rid him and his company of Victor Newman--hopefully--forever. What he's doing is not something that Kay is necessarily going to agree with, and it's going to pull her into the story in a big way. Victor is going to be aware of Kay's feelings and is going to act on them. And Gloria is also pulled into this. As Mrs. John Abbott, Gloria is going to start acting out.

Phyllis/Damon/Christine/Michael/Paul: Chris and Michael are going to be at loggerheads as they represent their repective clients in this case, and the five of them are not going to go head-to-head with the district attorney. Phyllis is going to come up with one of her wacky plans to save the day.

J.T./Colleen: J.T.'s attempt to reinvent himself as a playboy is thwarted by Colleen's return, and something unexpected is going to happen in that relationship in late January. We'll learn what Colleen was up to while she was away, which will involve somebody she met.

Kevin/Mackenzie/Daniel: That triangle is going to shift. What Mackenzie doesn't know at this point is everything that Kevin has been accused of doing, and that's going to have an unexpected impact on her. It's going to move Kevin in a direction of redemption, but in a very Kevin-esque way.

That was kind of an abrupt change.

Hey, was it just me or was today's episode kind of boring? It was like a Valentine's Day episode or something.
I did like JT's crack to Daniel, "Nice Suit, Liberace!" And Sharon yawning as she walked downstairs in her sexy nighty was kind of funny!
Ok, so the episode wasn't that bad.:)

I did miss some of the first part of it though and I didn't see what made Jack and Phyllis crash. What happened?

I agree, I hate the holiday/special occasion episodes. They seem like such a waste. I didn't see how Jack and Phyllis ended up on the side of the road either. So I guess they are getting back together.

Daniel's red jacket was funny!

So are Daniel and Lily going to be an item, and is he going to be the one she turns to when she finds out that Malcolm is her real dad???

What about that kiss Mac planted on J.T. WOW!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL! party: party: peacesign:

Have ya'll seen the movie Motives with Vivica Fox, Shemar Moore, Victoria Rowell? It's a very good movie. It came straight to video last year i believe. Shemar has a affair with Golden Brooks who plays Mya on Girlfriends tv show. Vivica is Shemar's wife in the movie. Victoria who plays Drucilla on Y&R is a cop in the movie.

Check out the "memorable quotes" I found on IMDB. I thought there would be like, zillions of them, but this is all there were. I guess they must update them at times, because these seem really recent.
Except for the Sally Mcguire one.

Memorable Quotes from
"The Young and the Restless" (1973)
Sally McGuire: [half to herself] Kind of a drag, huh? Stuck in a place like Genoa City... God, I feel so restless.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Damon hears that Michael is interested in Victoria]
Damon: Well, I'll be damned.
Michael: I'm sure you will be.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mackenzie: What does this mean - "wedding vows"?
J.T.: Oh, Brittany wants me to help her write hers.
Mackenzie: She wants you to help her?
J.T.: Yeah, don't start, all right? Give it back. Come on.
Mackenzie: I'm surprised they're writing their own.
J.T.: What, you didn't think that Bobby knew how to read or write?
Mackenzie: That's mean.
J.T.: Yeah, it's not far from the truth. But don't worry, I'm sure he'll hire whoever writes those flyers for the strip club. It'll be, like, the raunchiest vows ever, and I'm sure the minister will probably pass out.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brittany: That's better. So what are you doin' here?
Bobby: Come on, I need an excuse? I came down to see your gorgeous face. It's been, like, 12 hours.
Brittany: You're so sweet.
Bobby: Your roommates home?
Brittany: No, Mac's at school, and J.T.'s off rediscovering his manhood.
Bobby: He's doing what?

I have been thinking this for the past couple of months. I'm pretty sure they didn't address anything. I also didn't read anything about her leaving the show. This goes to show how they screw over another minor role. I really like Lynne, so I hope they eventually bring her back. They did the same thing to Marissa.

I haven't seen Larry for a while. I like Larry, he's one of the few "real" people on that show. I mean the people who don't have high-paying jobs or have some cushy living situation going for them. Larry seems like the kind of guy who has to worry about paying the bills. :flabnabbi

Oh yeah, that's another one. I read a while ago that he was bumped to recurring status, but he hasn't been on at all! I wonder what the deal is with that. Susan Walters (Diane) was also bumped to recurring, and she wasn't pleased with that. There were a few articles last month about it. She said if they come up with a storyline that she could be a vital part of, then she is all for it, but she doesn't want to be some character on the side. I don't blame her.

I'm not a regular Y&R viewer, but I'm going to be tuning in tomorrow to see Judith Chapman. Aww c'mon, give her a chance. :) I felt the same way about Peter Bergman when he took over Terry Lester's "Jack", but he kind of made the role his own and I really like him now.
Besides, she really didn't have that many lines today for me to decide how I feel about her characterization of Gloria. I understand though; I would have preferred that Joan Van Ark had stayed in the role.

Hey, I was thinking today, what happened to Lynn?

There is a small section in the Jan. 18 issue of SOD called "Who's In and Out On Y&R?"

Victoria Newman--Victoria will be coming back. We're very close [to selecting the recast]. She's going to come back, much to the chagrin of Nick and much to the interest of Jack Abbott.

Danny Romalotti--Danny's still on tour.

Diane Jenkins--Diane is in San Diego on business. Not so-coincidentally, that's where the actress is filming her new prime-time sudser, Point Pleasant, which debuts January 19 on Fox.

Nate Hastings--Nate is attending boarding school in London, but he will be coming back later in the spring. Expect Nate to look a little older when he returns.

Lynne Bassett--Lynne is still in Kansas visiting family.

Larry Warton--Larry is a lone wolf, and as Sharon can attest, you never know when he's going to show up.

Arthur Hendricks and Harrison Bartlett--We've seen the last of them for now.

Cameron Kirsten and Grace Turner--They are off the canvas for now.

Chad Rollins--Nick's friend, Chad, is not going to be involved in the early part of the year. (Was this one really worth mentioning?)

Hopefully if he does get back on the Jabot throne, he will lean heavily on the people he already has in there to lessen his workload and stress.

I'd personally rather see Lily go. There are times that I like her...but most of the time she is so damn fake. I don't think Christel Khalil is that good of an actress. She overdramitizes everything. The other day my mom happened to be in the room while I was watching, and in reaction to Lily, she said, "Wow, that is some bad acting." I still think it should have been Lyndsy Fonseca nominated for the Emmy last year, instead of Christel.

I also HIGHLY miss Joan. With today's episode, I REALLY tried to keep an open mind with Judith playing Gloria...but it didn't work.

Yeah, it was about time he did something! I also hope that he'll be able to manage everything. Poor John...his company is going under and he also has a psycho wife to deal with. I'd personally rather see Lily go. There are times that I like her...but most of the time she is so damn fake. I don't think Christel Khalil is that good of an actress. She overdramitizes everything.
Yeah, I remember when she first came on the show. I couldn't count the number of times she rolled her eyes!

With all this talk about Kevin burning down Gina's lately, I really miss it. Does anyone else miss Gina's? I mean, yeah, Gina is working at the Athletic Club, but it's not the same to me. Gina's was such a signature part of the show (they once had shot glasses that you could buy that said 'Gina's Place'!), and now it's gone.

Kevin... what can I say about Kevin?! Well, he's trying to be a better person, and doing a pretty good job of it as far as I can tell. He still needs to be held accountable for what he did to Colleen and Lily though; moreso for what he did to Colleen.

I like Michael Baldwin too. He did his time for his past indiscretions and he pretty much turned his life around. He still has moments where we see the brilliant, evil lawyer Michael appear, and I love it! Especially since he is now using his expertise for good things, mostly.

And Christine?! Well, Christine is like an old friend when you've been watching Y&R as long as I have and have seen her rise up from being a model(I still never really saw her as a model-type, to say nothing of being one of the top models at Jabot) to a high-powered attorney.
I suppose it doesn't hurt her that she is the daughter of Y&R's creator too. ;)

I have watched this show for years and also watched Cricket grow up. I agree she does not look like a model. I think I may not like her because of the nepotism showered on her. Remember when LLB had her children she STILL was on the cover of all the soap mags, and talked about on the show constantly. Christine is so self righteous, I can't stand her.

I hope that's what it is. I'd like to see Neil come out as her father for real. I know Dru would like that too. ;) This is just tearing her up.
Especially now that Phyllis knows about the paternity test. She'll never get out of Dru's hair unless Neil is found to be the father.

I don't think Malcom will acknowledge the paternity. I think after Neils accident he feels differently about all of it. It will go one lingering over Dru's head. It is ridiculous because Malcom pretty much raped her. She was out of it, and thought she was sleeping w/ her husband. Malcom should let it go, and be lucky that Neil never found out about The nyquill night!

I stole this from another thread: :)
Heinle Hired as Y&R's New Victoria

After what can only be called an exhaustive search, The Young and the Restless has cast daytime veteran Amelia Heinle (ex-Mia Saunders, All My Children) as Victoria Newman.

The process of finding a successor to the role previously held by three-time Daytime Emmy winner Heather Tom proved to be extremely challenging for the casting department. Tom exited The Young and the Restless in November 2003 amid concerns of "creative differences" between her and show executives. She promptly signed on to appear on ABC's One Life to Live, where she currently portrays Kelly Cramer.

Originally, a spokesperson for The Young and the Restless stated that the show planned to bring a new actress into the role in January 2004. An initial wave of auditions reportedly failed to find anyone who was a perfect fit for the role. Several other casting calls went out during 2004, but each one ended much the same way.

Heinle most recently appeared on ABC's All My Children, where she portrayed Mia Saunders from July 2001 through June 2004. Heinle's character was relegated to the back burner for much of her time with All My Children. Prior to joining AMC, Heinle enjoyed a three year run as Steffi Brewster on Loving and The City.

Heinle had her first The Young and the Restless airdate n March 21st.

Ok, I'm really starting to dislike Gloria. Figures she would run right to Victor to snitch on the others. Where do her loyalties lie anyway?!
...and I'm becoming not too thrilled with Judith Chapman's acting either. I've been patient, but she just doesn't seem real.

One thing I don't get about the ending of today's show is that they(John, Jack, and Brad) looked like they believed Victor when he said he bought up Jabot just to stop Nick from buying them up and foreclosing. It doesn't seem right that they'd take what Victor said at face value. If Victor bought it then he would have control of the company just like they feared he'd try to do.
But they all had a look like "oh, we didn't really have to let Chancellor Industries buy it up because Victor says that John's company is safe now."

That said, I don't know why they were so opposed to letting Jack use Chancellor to buy Jabot in the first place. After all, since he is CEO of Chancellor, it would be like Jabot never left the family. Well, better than letting the Newman's have it anyway.

And I was really choked at the fact that they got rid og Joan Van Ark to... I liked her way better than this old timer...Joan was a little annoying, but this one is waaaayyyy worse......

I wonder to if these younger people get a taste of it and either like the acting on the soaps or they want to get into something else..... Hhmm..... JMO

What's up with Devon? He's a weird dude. Drucilla went in his bedroom today & saw that he had his sleeping bag & pillow under the bed. She said he's been sleeping under the bed hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Why would he wanna sleep under the bed? He's strange plus he got the same curly hairstyle he had when he was on Family Matters tv show hahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Of course I didn't really get into that show. I couldn't stand Urkel! :smash: ;)

I think Devon is still feeling like his relationship with the Winters clan is not that solid yet. I think that is why he packed up all his stuff. I think he wants to be ready if the Winters' give him up, which is what he is afraid will happen.
I think they are going to have to be adopting him soon. That will cure his anxiety about not being wanted.

SPRING TEASERS FROM SOAPCITY

Roscoe Born joins the cast of Y&R as Tom Fisher, Kevin's (Greg Rikaart) father and Gloria's (Judith Chapman) ex-husband. His first airdate is April 7.

Born is familiar to soap fans as Peter Vreeland on Guiding Light, Jim Thomasen #1 on All My Children, Robert Barr/Quinn Armitage on Santa Barbara, Mitch Laurence on One Life to Live, and Joe Novak #2 on Ryan's Hope.

Things heat up for Jack and Phyllis, but will a new face on the horizon get in their way?

Gloria's house of cards nears collapse, as she fights desperately to hold on to her marriage to John.

What will be the fallout for Ashley, Jack, Michael and Kevin, as unexpected events unfold, throwing the family into chaos, creating new enemies, and new alliances.

Luck shines on Kevin and Michael, as they come in to unexpected good fortune. But will this windfall become their downfall, as news of their good fortune spreads, falling into mysterious, unwelcome hands.

As J.T. and a revitalized Mackenzie flirt with a new relationship, Bobby and Brittany face the realities of married life. Will Nikki and Bobby's attraction get in their way? Or will other forces, out of their control, bring the walls down around them?

Victor and Nikki reaffirm their lifelong love affair. But tensions between Nicholas and Victor threaten to shake the family foundations once again, even as Jack Abbott finds a new and unique way to inject himself into the family's turmoil.

Sharon and Nicholas face the tensions of a two-career family, as Cassie wades into the difficult and dangerous waters of adolescence.

A long awaited return to Genoa City may loom on the horizon.

Dru, Neil and Lily continue to build their relationship with Devon, but new disappointments and his deeply ingrained fear of attachments make it a bumpy ride.

Phyllis and Drucilla continue their competitive wars at the office, drawing Nicholas, Victor, Neil and Nikki into the fray.

Defying the wishes of Dru and Phyllis, Lily and Daniel continue their friendship. Will it turn into something more? Devon watches from the wings, feeling emotions new to him.

The competition heats up between Malcolm and Damon over Adrienne. But is she playing the two of them against each other?

Drucilla lords it over Phyllis as her boss at Newman Enterprises. But Phyllis has an ace up her sleeve: Dru's days in the catbird seat may be numbered.

Thanks Huntington for the update of what's to come.

I always enjoy a look into the Genoa City future. ;)

Hey is this a short week for Y&R due to the NCAA Tournament? I love basketball but why are these games on during the day? Isn't everyone at work during this time? I guess I have to reset my VCR again.

Here is a picture of Roscoe Born.

No problem!

And yes, you are right about that. Thanks for letting us know. I was unaware. I just checked and Y&R won't be on Thursday or Friday. It is so annoying that they put the games on during the day!!!

So, did anyone turn on CBS to watch Y&R today?

...I mean, besides me?  ;)

I think that The know kids (gererartion next) are the typical spoiled brats that you see running all around the world and that that the older folk still just as whorrish as always, but God love them they are very entertaining! Are there any Y&R fans? I hardly ever see anything about the show here. If there are, how do you feel about the current storylines?

Ashley's accident/Victor's involvement

Sharon/Nick/ Cassie/Frank

Phyllis and Jack's relationship

Diane/Jabot

Victoria/Damon

Lily/Kevin/Colleen & Sierra

Brittany/Raul

Katherine/Jill/Esther

or anything else that's going on right now!

I am not liking at all the storyline that revolves around Victor and Nicky...her and her midlife crisis.... If it hadn't been for Britney calling Bobby they would have gone all the way...then the show would revolve around her even more.....
Really not liking this new Gloria and her storyline either.... the only thing with that is I can't wait for the Abbotts to find out about Michael and Kevin...which Paul will find out first( or should I say JT)....
Michael is my favorite on the show......And I know I don't like the new Victoria either, it's really hard to pick up where she left off when we have to get use to a new face...cause that's all anyone is going to consentrate on........And I feel sorry for Brad cause now Jack has asked Victoria to be C.E.O. of Jabot...that's not fair....Catherine I think is being unfair too.... Don't like the Sharon and Nick thing either...I mean come on in the real world noone could get hired on like her and Gloria with absolutely no experience, that is rediculious.... JMO

Yeah, people in the U.S. didn't exactly know that yet...

I did, but only because I read it in the tv section of the Sunday paper where they have a little rundown on what happened the past week.

OMG Molson, I was thinking the same things today when I got home and watched. I know its a soap, but come on someone like John Abbott would never give Gloria a second look and marry her without a prenup! And Sharon too, no experience, but now she is a spokeswoman and making major decisions about someones being given a contract, when a couple of week earlier she didn't have the brains to ask for one herself. Sorry for those who are fans of Sharon, but I hate her. I also agree with you regarding Victoria, I was so focused on who the new Victoria was that I hardly concentrated on the scene between her and Jack. Very distracting. And who can Sharon judge when it comes to being attracted to other men.

Yes I agree the new storylines are very frustrating.

I just LOVE the new Victoria!

NOT!

I am totally against this. I'd rather have Victoria still missing from the show. If not Heather Tom...I want no one! I want Heather Tom, not some Denise Richards clone!

So what do you think of the (maybe)blossoming romance between Paul and Ashley?
Personally I think Ashley ought to find Wesley and go out with him, since she probably will need a psychiatrist anyway sometime in the future. ;)

Ok, I'll admit I am having a hard time seeing Amelia Heinle as Victoria. Heather Tom is just too ingrained in my mind as portraying that character.
And she does look kinda like a Denise Richards clone, Huntington. Albeit a more skeletal-looking one.

One more thing... I really dislike Gloria! There, I said it and I ain't taking it back! Trying to steal money from her own son, and getting Kevin(who is finally developing a conscience) to go along with her "plan". If she'll do that to her own son, imagine what she'll do to John!
This is one time I'm actually rooting for Ashley to find out about her and expose her!
