Granny was Jed's mother-in-law. Elly May was Jed's daughter, Granny's granddaughter, and Jethro's cousin. Jethro was Jed's nephew(sister Pearl's son), Elly's cousin, and no blood relation to Granny.

Actually, Pearl is Jed's first cousin, as Jed's father and Pearl's mother were brother and sister, so that would make Jethro Jed's first cousin once removed, and Jethro and Elly May second cousins.

Yeah, you are right. of course, i remember "cousin" Pearl. I don't know why i put sister. I knew that Elly and Jethro were cousins, and was just thinking along those lines when i wrote that, but second cousins explains it all. Tom Shaw, i am sorry i was off a little bit on that part. (Truthfully, until I saw the "Beverly Hillbillies" special back in '93 {or was it '94?}, I, too, always assumed that Pearl was Jed's sister.)

Didnt Jethro always call Jed, "Uncle Jed"??? Must have just called him that huh?? I call some of my realatives "Cuz" even when they are not....

Yes, Jethro did call him Uncle Jed, and of course always referred to Elly as his "dumb 'ole girl cousin". Actually, i guess there is evidence of both the "cousin" and "brother-sister" relationship between Jed and Pearl. This is kinda confusing. :confused:
