View Full Version : Missed episodes!
As everyone may or may not know, the series is starting back into the syndication years on TBS later this morning. I found it hard to believe it was starting over so soon, until I checked the TV Tome episode guide. Several 2nd season/83-84 episodes haven't been shown! I think there's about 4, maybe 5, among them the episode with Imogene Coca. Anyone know the reason for this?? I'm happy to see some of the earlier syndication episodes that I always tend to miss, but I'm a little unhappy for not being able to see every NBC ep, because I will cease my daily recording/watching of this show shortly, due simply to lack of time, and I'd like to have all of them on tape...

As far as I know, "Gert Rides Again" is the only one they DON'T air, because TBS doesn't have the rights to that episode (I know - I don't understand myself). And, MF only ran for 1 1/2 years on NBC (January 1983 - April 1984), and all together, 35 episodes were produced. Since TBS shows 2 eps per day, that is 10 episodes a week. So, they were airing NBC MF eps for 3 full weeks and two and a half days. The syndicated ones take up most of the rotation at 95 episodes. That's 9 weeks and 2 1/2 days for TBS to air each and every syndicated ep ever made. So all together, the average run takes TBS 13 weeks to air (130 divided by 10 = 13). And they started airing the NBC eps like around the last week in August.
Make sense to you now? As far as I know, TBS has the rights to all the syndicated eps so you don't have to worry about missing an episode. ;)
Hmm..yeah, I guess that kinda makes sense, but I can swear that the "Gert" ep wasn't the only one they skipped...I'd have to check again, but I'm pretty darn sure...
Any particular reason they own the rights to all except one?

I'm not sure and I'm pretty sure they aired all the NBC ones except the Gert one because it's been more than 3 weeks now. :)
I'm still not sure why they don't have the rights to the Gert ep... *shrug*
