and Seinfeld. When that girl said she "didn't accept" the break-up, that was a plot with George.

I think Coupling was created to be a spoof of Friends.

It's kind of ironic that NBC adopted the show as the successor to "Friends."

nbc apperently forgot the difference between friends and this show. and that is thaton friends you really like them and think of them as real people on this show they seem like cardboard charters also on shows like friends sienfeild and even will and grace they have plots that they buld stories around and the risque humour flows nataurllay from the stories this is just joke joke joke with no heart or warmth

Coupling is not a Friends knock-off. There are definitely similarities, but that's because anyone with half a brain could watch the British version and like it 10 million time better. Just because the show has six thirtysomething characters, that doesn't mean it's a Friends knockoff. The show is based off the series creator and producer's real life. They both broke up with their boy/girlfriend and met each other the same night and fell in love, and they would hang out at bars and still have mutual friends, including exes. Friends doesnt' have the same plot. Even the Coupling US DVD advertises it as a little Friends, a little Seinfeld, and a little Sex in the CIty, because they're similar. But when it was created, it was not created as a knock-off to Friends. Steven Moffat claimed he never even heard of Friends until after the show first aired and people began to compare it after the first season finished. Sure, it got more Friend-sy when they "americanized" it, but that's just because NBC has a real problem with non-Friends-duplicate sitcoms.

Sorry, i just had to put my foot down, because i stand up for the original British Coupling. I'm a big fan. Check it out, BBC America, Thursday nights, 9:00 PM est. Also the first 2 seasons on DVD.

I wonder how the script writer and director of Friends feels that another show is copying off of them.
