I got terrible new today. Ok first I'll let you know I'm in the Navy and have been in it for 6 months. Well today was my duty day and when I got here I got news to of my shipmates had died. One of them was in my department (deck). It's really very sad he was a pretty cool guy. He died in a car accident.
Because of this the ship I'm on will be shut down for Monday and Tuesday so that everyone will go to a training to help some of us cope with this and to tell us how to prevent this and other kinds of accidents from happening.
It is really very sad, it must have been hard for whoever had to call his parents in New York and tell them their 20 year old son was killed. Such a young age to die at.
I'm sorry to hear that. That's awful.

One of the officers in charge of my department actually told us more today so we wouldn't here any bad rumors. The guy I knew who died in the car accident. Well, he was the passenger the the guy who was driving the car fell asleep and hit one of those cement dividers on the freeway. Well, my shipmate wasn't wearing a seatbelt and flew out the window and died instantly. This is why you should always wear a seatbelt.
The second guy the died, I didn't know. But what happened to him was he committed suicide, his wife came home and found him dead. We weren't told how he killed himself however.
This has been a bad week.

I have never been able to understand why so many people don't use seat belts. I learned to do it at an early age. All my life! It's become a habit! I can't imagine not being buckled up!
I can't understand. Is it laziness? Irresponsibility? Arrogance? Is it worth your life to make it a habit?
I'll never understand humans.
Again, my condolences.
