Does anyone know why Dietrich wore the same gray suit every single day for 5 years?! Was this intentional? What gives?

actually they all wore the same suits a lot, even Harris had a few repeated suit performaces,i.e. a gray suit with red stripes that he wore a lot in the first four seasons of Barney Miller, and a tan colored suit that he wore to death as well:lol:

Actually, the show had a limited budget, so the actors had repeats of wardrobe. Anyone familiar with Steve Landesberg knows that he was a "casual" dresser, even when doing his stand-up act, or Schlotsky's commercials. But for the part, he wore what was provided him. No matter what he wears, Landesberg/Dietrich is a class act.

In Dietrich's first episode ("Fish", Season 2), he wore a tan suit. It was a good color on him.
