Kayo, I just wanna let ya know that I have not forgotten about Senior Year, I've just been incredibly blocked on it lately and I'm working on a few holes in the plot currently, so if you'll all just bear with me, I'll have more up as soon as I can! But, in the meantime, read this! This is based on an actual murder that occured in my neighborhood about 11 years ago and it was never solved (Although everyone here knows who did it.) so here's my version of it as it was told to me by my mom, so read and enjoy and post and... Yeah...
Baby Blues

Jinny: Good morning, Delores.
Delores: Not so good for her.
Magda: Yeah. So, what’s up?
Delores: Gunshot wounds through the stomach.
Jinny: She married?
Raina: (Comes up behind them.) No, but she and her boyfriend live here and have a one year old.
Magda: Where is her?
Raina: Next door.
Jinny: What was she shot with?
Delores: Shotgun. I’ll have my full report on your desk by lunch. (Stands up.) One thing’s for sure, she was way too young. (Leaves.)
Jinny: (Staring strangely at body.) Who killed you?

(((Captain’s office.)))
CD: So, we talked to the boyfriend. He says that he was at his friend, Robert’s, all day, came home, found Meg—
Kate: Meg?
Nate: The corpse.
CD: (Glares at Nate.) Found Meg, called 911, then called Robert to come over and wait for the police with him.
Kate: You believe him?
Nate: We don’t have a reason not to. His fingerprints were on the gun, but he probably hunts.
Kate: Motive?
CD: Nope.
Kate: Witnesses?
Nate: Well, there are neighbors. A woman and her daughter.
Kate: Who’s checking them out?
CD: Jinny and Magda. We’re gonna try to find Robert.
Kate: Skedaddle.
(((A nice living room.))) (A woman about 35 or 40 sits on the couch next to two 17-year-olds. A girl and boy, holding hands. Jinny and Magda sit opposite them on a love seat.)
Woman: Inspectors, I’m Anne Lewis and this is my daughter, Alyssa and her boyfriend, Shane Martin.
Jinny: You knew the victim, Alyssa?
Alyssa: Yeah… We were the same age. We went to school together until she dropped out to have the baby.
Magda: Can we have the baby’s name?
Alyssa: (Sniffs.) Yeah, it was Madison. Meg named her after Madison Square Garden in New York. She always wanted to go there and be on Broadway. She had the most amazing voice. You wouldn’t know it to look at her, but…
Magda: Hmm… Shane, how did you know her?
Shane: (Looks surprised that someone asked him a question.) Well, from school and sometimes when Lyssa would baby-sit, I’d come over and help.
Jinny: Alyssa, I know this is going to be hard, but, do you think you could tell us about her before she died? Her interests, her friends, anything you can remember. Is there anyone who might have had a problem with her? Because she dropped out of school or anything?
Alyssa: No, everybody liked Meg. Before she quit, she was really popular. We were in cheerleading together.
Anne: I think I have a picture in my purse, I’ll go check. (Stands up and walks over to kitchen.)
Magda: Thank you, that will be helpful.
Anne: (Comes back in and hands Magda the picture.) Here you go. (Points to a spot on the picture.) That’s Meg, right there on the end beside Alyssa.
Jinny: We’re going to need a list of her acquaintances. Anyone she could have come in contact with lately. Anyone. (Hands Alyssa her notepad.)
Alyssa: I don’t know… I think… Shane, can you help me?
Shane: Of course. (Kisses her on the forehead.)
Magda: Alyssa, do you and Shane have a sexual relationship?
Alyssa: What does that have to do with anything?
Anne: No. My daughter had been raised in a very strict Catholic home. We don’t believe in consummation before marriage. Now, I think that you should leave.
Jinny: (She and Magda exchange glances.) Okay. Thank you for your time. (They stand up.) Alyssa, just bring that list down to the station when you finish it. (They walk out the door.) Everybody loved Meg.
Magda: Hmm… Somebody didn’t.
Alyssa: (Comes out door.) Hey! Look, I’m sorry about my mom.
Magda: You’re her daughter. It’s her instinct to protect you.
Alyssa: I kinda didn’t tell you everything.
Magda: You lied?
Alyssa: No… Not exactly…
Jinny: Then, what exactly, did you do?
Alyssa: I didn’t tell you everything.
Jinny: Okay, great, are you gonna tell us now?
Alyssa: Well, Mom kinda lied to you… But she didn’t really know the truth, so I guess it was kinda me lying to you. Look, I don’t know what this has to do with Meg’s death, but Shane and I do sleep together. We have for… (sighs.) I don’t know how long…
Jinny: Anything else.
Alyssa: Meg made me promise not to tell anyone and I haven’t but… Now that she’s… Meg was pregnant.
Magda: That was bad?
Alyssa: Her boyfriend, Alex, he thought she had had her tubes tied after Madison was born. She made me promise not to tell him. But I broke my promise. I told Shane but that was it.
Jinny: Would Shane have told Alex?
Alyssa: No. And there’s something else… Alex killed her. I’d put money on it.
(((An interrogation room at the division.))) (An African-American man in his 20’s is sitting across from C.D. and Nate.)
Man: Look, man, I didn’t do nothin’. I didn’t kill nobody.
CD: (Looks at Nate.) You think he knows that he’s using double negatives.
Nate: I think he enjoys it.
CD: You’re right. Look, Robert, we know you’re friends with Meg Anderson.
Robert: Look, I didn’t kill that chick. She killed herself.
Nate: How do you know that?
Robert: Alex told me. He said that she had been depressed a lot lately and that she talked about suicide all the time.
CD: So, what happened?
Alex: Robert called me. Said he’d got home and found the chick. Said he’d already called the cops and he needed someone there for moral support. He sounded really scared. I don’t know what happened before I got there.
Nate: What time did you get there?
Robert: 4:30? I don’t remember. My friend’s girl gets killed. She’s white, he’s black, rumors are gonna fly, dude. He was good to her. Except for when she needed discipline.
Nate: Did he beat her?
Robert: He disciplined her. There’s a difference, dude.
CD: Answer the question, Robert. Did he beat her?
Robert: Are all cops stupid? Or are you just deaf? He disciplined her!
CD: (Gets in his face.) If you do not answer the question right now, I’m gonna teach you the meaning of the phrase, "Don’t screw with me". Do we understand each other?
Robert: He hit her a couple of times.
Nate: How many is a couple?
Robert: Two or three times a month maybe. It only got really bad once, when she threatened to leave him. He pulled a knife on her, but he didn’t hurt her. She talked about filing a restraining order.
CD: Did she?
Robert: No. I mean, I don’t think so. One thing’s for sure, Alex had a temper.
(((Captain’s office.))) (Raina and Nate sit in the chair across from Captain. Jinny and Magda lean against the door frame. CD stand over almost away from everyone.)
Kate: Okay, so we have a neighbor and her boyfriend that say that Alex killed her. His best friend says that he had a temper. So, right now, we’re looking at the boyfriend. Raina, what are you doing?
Raina: Trying to get the 911 tape. There might be something there.
Kate: Good. Jinny, Magda, what’s your next plan of action?
Magda: We were thinking of talking to Alyssa and Shane again without their parents, if they’ll allow us, of course.
Jinny: Well, Shane’s 18, so he kind of has the choice. Alyssa…
Magda: She could really help us if her mother would let us. She was the person that knew Meg that best. If we could get her alone… Who knows what she might tell us?
Kate: I’ll talk to her mother. C.D., Nate?
Nate: We’re going to talk to the boyfriend again.
Kate: Let me know.
(((Jinny and Magda are in the car.)))
Magda: So…
Jinny: So… what?
Magda: Jack’s back.
Jinny: Yes, I know.
Magda: So… How was the ‘trial separation’.
Jinny: Want the truth? (Magda nods.) Miserable.
Magda: So, how did he feel about it?
Jinny: Please, he was almost as bad, if not worse than I was. I think we’ve decided to let things play out. He’s moving back in. Now, that I’m… (sighs.)
Magda: Not screwed up?
Jinny: Not as bad… I love him, Mag. I mean… When I couldn’t be with him… I didn’t wanna be. Does that make sense?
Magda: In simpler words, without him there is no you?
Jinny: Yeah… I think that’s about it.
(((CD and Nate are in their car driving to where Alex is staying in Daly City.)))
Nate: C.D.
CD: What?
Nate: Would you like to go to dinner with me?
CD: What brought this on?
Nate: Well, after you kissed me… I mean… We kissed each other… I just figured that… It was a stupid idea.
CD: Nate… I would love to go to dinner with you.
Nate: Really?
CD: As long as you don’t point out that my dinner costs more than yours.
Nate: Okay… Do I have to open doors and stuff for you.
CD: It would be the polite thing to do.
Nate: What if I’m not polite?
CD: Kiss a second date goodbye.
Nate: Do you kiss on the first date.
CD: No, well, except for you, you were my exception.
Nate: Is that good?
CD: Well… Let’s put it this way… It’s not bad.
So?
