(Note, February 14: Unfortunately, the great TZ site that I write about in this post is now off the Web. There are a couple of other sites I mention later in the thread; they are still around as far as I know.)

In another thread, I mentioned that there were some excellent Twilight Zone sites on the web. Here is a link to the most complete one, called The Fifth Dimension (from the first line of the first season intro: "There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. . . ."): http://www.thetzsite.com

Some highlights:

*The "Credits" section includes, among other things, capsule summaries of all 156 episodes (which do contain spoilers), and complete summaries of the first 92 episodes including complete episode dialogue and a description of what parts are edited out on the Sci-Fi channel. (One thing it doesn't have, yet, is a complete index to all the actors that appeared in all of the episodes; this also is complete only through episode 92. It does index all the writers, directors and composers in the series, though. )

*The "Gallery" section includes, among other things, 30 pictures from each episode, plus pictures of Rod Serling in the episodes in which he appeared (all but the first 35), plus a picture of the image from each episode that was on display while the credits were rolling.

*The "Fanstuff" section includes, among other things, a Mega Ballot where you can rate episodes from 0 to 10 (you need to vote for at least 50 eps, though), a chat room (open weekly), and a message board.

*The "Serling" section includes information about and interviews with the creator, executive producer, and host of the Twilight Zone (and writer of 92 episodes), Rod Serling.

There are other sections I haven't mentioned, and more stuff in each section than I've mentioned. I can't recommend this site highly enough for those who would like to learn more about the series.

I have been to the site before, and it is a wonderful site. I'd def. recommend all TZ fans stop by and have a look around.

Last night, I visited the site Mr. Bevis recommended. It was everything I expected it to be and, perhaps, a little bit more. What a find! Thanks again, Mr. B!!! :bouncers

So am I, bry, so am I. I like it around here, just as I like it over there. That site does have a TZ message board--with a lot of very welcoming people, and a few nasty ones--but believe me, my intention in posting that link was so the people over here can enrich their knowledge and enjoyment of the Twilight Zone (visiting the message board or not, as they so choose), not so everyone can stampede off this board and go on to that one . . . which I don't think would happen, anyway. There are many different communities that form around discussing TZ and other shows, and I am happy to have found this one.

Welcome, little insomniac. 26 posts already . . . you've really hit the ground running, haven't you? You'll pass Jenny in no time. (Well, maybe not. )

Glad you like it, TVgen62 (let me update this post to compliment your new avatar. Looks wicked! :angryfire)

Here are a few info links that cover the gaps left by the Fifth Dimension site. This is a link to a list of actors appearing in multiple episodes over the course of the whole series: http://tzone.the-croc.com/tzactors.html (tzone.the-croc.com/tzactors.html). It's not error free (one episode by Vaughn Taylor is missing, and there may be other mistakes), but this is the best list I know of.

I also looked for episode summaries without spoilers. Neither of these lists is both perfectly accurate and perfectly spoiler-free, but they are the best I have found: www.angelfire.com/fl/twilightzonelist and
www.leapinbass.com/zone/tz/petesfavoritesindex.html (then click on "Episode List" at left).

Happy linking! :D

I like most ppl there @ that site, but a few bad apples spoils the experience there for me, some people can not stop arguing or insulting. Here is more friendly, the discussions do not seems to be about EGOS here .

but believe me, my intention in posting that link was so the people over here can enrich their knowledge and enjoyment of the Twilight Zone (visiting the message board or not, as they so choose), not so everyone can stampede off this board and go on to that one . . . which I don't think would happen, anyway. Noble cause Mr.B. I also like the msg board here at tvlinksonline, I dont see ppl leaving here .

( I wonder how the tzworld.com is doing, I may give it a glance soon).

Just my two cents, but this board, actually both the Twilight Zone board and Batman boards are quite peaceful here. I wished I could say the rest of the boards were peaceful, but I'd be telling an outright lie if I said that.

For the most part, if any of you lurk on the main Chit Chat board, it might scare you away from posting over there. I don't want it to make it sound like we're all a bunch of crazy people, we have quite a few nice people all around, it's just we have a lot of bad apples on the main CC board. And unfortunately the good members are the ones that leave. You got various reasons why they leave, work, school about to start up, maybe they just get sick of all the squabbling. The administration is good on this site. TJ and Pav both do an excellent job, it's just if a bad apple is smart enough they'll keep coming back, whether or not they are banned or not.

The bad junk has drove me away a bit. I do most of my talking on Random now. I keep coming and visiting the boards I usually visit, it's just sometimes the boards are dead, the posts that are at the top, I don't have a reply for, etc. Then you got fights. For the most part it gets ridiculous, but I'm still here. I've got good friends on here, and they are basically keeping me here. I've got my rants and my raves out a couple of days ago on another board. Some people agreed with me about how the boards have gone downhill.

Please don't let me scary any of you away from here. For the most part, this board is quite peaceful.

Jenny, thanks, I saw some of the bickering @ some boards here,
but other boards seem pretty benign. So I second BRY by saying I like it here too.

I think debating is great! but when some posters attack thats another thing, I dont see that so much here, so thanks again.

BRY, thanx, RR is ok in my book.

For the most part Chit Chat is peaceful. The Politics /Current Events board is the only real exception. If you post there, you'd better be prepared for some very heated responses. CC Main develops arguments from time to time, but generally is calm. The same goes for Movies and Music. And, of course, the CC Games board almost never has any trouble. As far as I've seen, most of the boards for individual shows are very tranquil, although there are some notable exceptions. The TZ board only rarely generates an argument.

Sad news. The Fifth Dimension site is currently, and for the foreseeable future, off the Web. Apparently CBS has threatened the site owner (Matthew Cregg) with legal action. There were a lot of pictures from the series on the site that CBS owns the rights to, and probably a lot of other things.

If anything changes, I'll let you know if no one else does first.

:( I got the news also & I'm just devestated about it. I'd like to know what CBS has to lose by this website being on the internet? If Matt were charging a fee then I could understand it but he wasn't. That guy really put a lot of hard work into that site and now CBS is whining and for no logical reason that I can see. It's funny to me that some sites can stay up but others can't. I hope nothing happens to this one, I kinda like it here although I don't post very often. Bevis, What would you think about keeping the message board & the chat room open? I doubt CBS could legally force those 2 areas of the site to close because of freedom of speech.

Mr. Bevis
02-15-2004, 09:53 AM
Yeah, this was shocking and very saddening for me, too. I don't see how CBS could object to the message board or chat room, either. I hope they can come back.

The irony is that Matt's site probably made money for CBS. The Fifth Dimension made me a Twilight Zone fan again. I know I would never have gotten the DVDs of the series I have if the site had never existed--and of the hundreds of people who were members there, and thousands more who visited the site, there are probably several others who would say the same thing. I don't know whether CBS gets a percentage of the profits on the DVDs or just a flat fee, but either way, you'd think they'd see anything that generates interest in the series as a good thing.

There is a temporary ezboard for former members of the Fifth Dimension. It will last for 30 days, and it's at

pub119.ezboard.com/btwilightzonerevisited

TZRider77 has set this up for us (anybody remember that name? It's very nice of him/her, whoever he/she is).

Unfortunately, I can't log in right now because of my old "Walter Smith" local account. I can't get a new account, but can't delete the old one. Serves me right for getting a local account. :( Hope no one else has any problems!

TZRider77 has announced that he's going to extend this ezboard for a while. Meanwhile, the consensus among the people who've been meeting at the temporary board is that we're going to continue at Eric Burke's new TZWorld board, here: www.dkompanie.com/tzworld.

Right now this board has 40+ members and is still growing (compared to over 300 members at the Fifth Dimension board). There's still a lot of 5th D'ers who haven't been found yet, and perhaps some have been lost for good. I hope some of them might come across this post.

Also, any posters here who might feel that they have additional time to talk about the Twilight Zone, beyond what they already do here, are encouraged to drop by and take a look around. It may not be a comfortable fit for everyone, but there are a lot of nice people there who will do their best to make you feel welcome.

OK, here is an update. As of yesterday afternoon, the site is back on the Web! :D Matt had to take a lot of things off the site, but there are still a lot of things there. A new message board is attached to the site, and needless to say, people reading here are welcome there, too.

Sorry to tell you that the site has been down for a few weeks. This time it may be down for good. Right now, it looks like the webmaster just got tired of it. The message board members are meeting at www.dkompanie.com/tzworld again (all here are welcome, of course), and we may set up another board sometime in the future, who knows?
