An article in USA Today (http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2003-07-15-tv-dvd_x.htm) contained a wealth of release information for previously unannounced shows. Here's the list:

General Hospital
All My Children
Northern Exposure
The Critic
King Of Queens
Barney Miller

Also mentioned was Seinfeld (we brought you news on this previously) and confirmation that Alias: Season 2 will be out in early December. We assume that the two soaps listed will be "Best of" discs, since season sets of a soap opera don't make any sense at all. We wish we had information on who was releasing Northern Exposure, but unfortunately it wasn't included in the article.

Hey this is a question for all of you that know more about soaps than me:

Do you think the All My Children thing will be a Weddings thing? a "Best of" thing? Just random moments?

Does anyone have any idea?

It would be cool to see the very first episode...

I hope its not a weddings one, ABC has already released wedding stuff... in the 1990's they did ABC Soaps Unforgettable Weddings for "AMC", "OLTL" and "GH"...

Here's something to consider though..

Many of the early episodes of GH and AMC may be lost because back in the 60's they did used to tape over episodes once they aired... they never knew there would be a demand for the episodes... Also i'd venture to say all the episodes that may have aired live are destroyed (that goes for most of the older soaps)... So if they are entire episodes i'd guess they'll start somewhere in the 70's or 80's, maybe even the 1990's...

You may be write about guessing that it will just be random stuff.. We'll have to just wait and see... there are so many episodes i'd like to see again...of both shows..,

"AMC"-
All of Erica's Weddings
Erica Vs. The Grizzly Bear
Erica's marraige to Tom Cuddhay
Mona Kane's Death
Tornado destroys the Martin House
Kendall comes to town (1990's)
Erica Stabs Dimitri
Erica's drug addiction
Erica Steals Maria's baby
Maria Dies
Brooke goes to prison for not revealing her source
and many more

"GH"-
Carly tells Bobbie she is Caroline
Bobbie catches Tony and Carly in bed
Karen and Jaggers wedding
Karen is stripping at Sonny's club
Lucy and Alan's wedding
Luke rapes Laura
And Many More....

Yeah but don't you think they would have at LEAST kept the very first episode of AMC?

There's a bunch of stuff I'd love to see also of AMC, hopefully there will be lots of releases... I want to see some of Jesse Hubbard and that storyline... the Santos family... the Dillons..... theres so much!!

Well, actually I think they miht have the first episodes of the soaps. I mean, wouldn't they have kept the first episodes for the sake of it being the first episode? As a matter of fact, wasn't one of the DAYTIME TO REMEMBER episodes of AMC one of the early 70s episodes?

It doesn't really matter if they release it or not. I wouldn't be able to buy it because well, my parents think soaps are a waste of time. I guess they'll be on some internet shopping service when I turn 18 lol.....

Chances are if they didn't keep any episodes from the 60's and 70's they would NOT have saved the first episodes, simply because it was the first... Now of course this is just speculation so i don't know, we'll have to wait and see. I can't wait i'll be buying both "AMC" and "GH".

Yeah, a lot of stuff from before 1977 (when I believe ABC started saving the episodes) is gone. However, I believe the first episode of General Hospital still exists. I remember reading that clips of the first episode were incorporated during it's 30th aniversary. That may not be true, but I've read people say it was saved. *shrug* As for the first episode of AMC, I don't know. I'd hope it would've been saved at least as a kinescope, but who knows. There are episodes of both soaps from before 1977 though, a few of them original masters and many of them kinescopes. I remember during the SoapCenter tributes to both shows, they aired clips from the early '70s of both shows.

Anyways, I also think that it'll only be clip shows, ala the 'best of AMC'. Who knows, maybe they'll do a top ten most important episodes thing and have people vote as to what their favorite moments have been and include the episodes they occured in. *Shrug* Just my speculations. Hopefully we'll know more within the next few months.
