Original music on Freaks and Geeks DVD for a higher cost, so why can't WKRP ?

The show Freaks and Geeks first and only season is coming to dvd with the original music intact. They had to pay for the copyrights and therefore the set is going to cost more - a retail price of around $120 for the 18 hour long episodes.

So my question is why can't they do it with WKRP? Just get the original music and pay for it and turn the cost over to the consumer.

What about the wildly prohibitive costs that were talked about earlier by the head of Fox for using original music?
If they can do it for a show that featured a lot of music like F & G - on a hour show- why can't they do it for WKRP?

So their 18 shows would equal 36 1/2 hour episodes.
And the cost was MSRP of $120 for the 18.

So that would mean a season of WKRP would cost (assuming the music rights are fairly equal in price and don't tell me it wouldn't be damn close) -

$73.33 for Seasons 1, 3, & 4 (each)
$80.00 for Season 2

Knock off the store discount (since it the manufacture's price) and we are talking around $58 and $64.

I'd pay that.

And I think it would sell better than Freaks and Geeks.

I've never even heard of Freaks & Geeks. I don't care if it would cost $200 per season.. I'd pay almost anything to have all 4 seasons uncut on DVD.

It has been too long, I agree. I haven't posted much lately cause not too many people post, and the Comedy network took WKRP off the air. It was a sad day when they did that :(

OK- Freaks and Geeks has to pay for the music rights, and it is coming out on DVD. WKRP is supposed to be too cost prohibitive because of the amount of songs they would have to pay for.
