I got my confirmation and itinerary in the mail today ~ I am PSYCHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to work first in Georgia for a week and then I'm taking my daughter and a friend for 3 days to Disney World. I haven't been there in about....17 years and I know so much has changed. I have all these things planned and what I want to do - has anyone been there recently? Any recommendations?
We plan on doing Epcot/MGM in 1 day. I want to do the Tower of Terror and that Rocking Rollercoaster in MGM and then head to Epcot. My daughter wants to visit "Mexico" and we plan on seeing the illumantion show at night.
We'll spend 2 days in Magic Kingdom. I can't wait to ride Space Mountain (again), Thunder Mountain (again) and go through the Haunted Mansion!!!! I want my daughter to see the Hall of Presidents and the Country Bear Jamboree.
We'll spend 1 day at Animal Kingdom then :) That's new and I think we'll have a good time there - we will definitely go on the safari!
when I went many years ago we stayed in Fort Wilderness and ate at Pioneer Hall every night so I want to go back theer for a night just for memories :) I'd love to see the Hoop De Doo Revue but it's too expensive :(
We aren't doing any Blizzard Beach or anything like that - I can swim where I live, I dont need to swim in Disney World :)
Anyone been there recently?
I think I"m more excited than my kid :)

Yes, It certainly has changed. I first went there in 1983 and Epcot was fairly new then. There was no Animal Kingdom or MGM yet. I went again in 2001 and couldn't believe how much new stuff they added. I just hope the Hall of presidents isn't closed when you visit there like it was when I went. I was bummed.

Well based on the online thing that says what parts of the park are closed for renovations, etc nothing I want to see is closed.
I was disappointed however to see that the 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea is gone as is Mr. Toad's Wild Ride! Where did they go and why? Those were CLASSICS! My daughter would love Leagues!

20,000 has been gone a while in DL and DW...and Mr. Toad was replaced with a Winnie The Pooh Ride. I liked both of those rides too.

Oh, how cool! I hope you have tons of fun and I'm sure you will cause it's awesome there. I'd give anything to go there again, the last time I went I was about 5, so it's not like I even remember anything anyway.

That Pooh ride that replaced Toad is closed right now. I didn't really care if I saw it or not and my kid isn't really "into" Pooh so I'm not too disappointed about that. I'd much rather see Mr. Toad again!

You lucky duck! I'm sure you'll have a good time. I just went to DW with my family in March and I can't wait to go back. We also stayed at the value resorts (All-Star Music) for the first half of the trip. It was alright, but the only bad thing was when we were there it was spring break and a lot of class trip or sports teams were staying there. Tons of screaming teenagers without supervision everywhere. The second half we went to Port Orleans Riverside (a moderate resort). Still some sporting teams there (actually just a lot of cheerleading squads!) but it was much nicer than the all star. Tell us all about it when you get back. Animal Kindgom is really cool! You have to go on the safari.

ahhh you are so lucky! I love FL!!! (WELL MAINLY DISNEY!!) but I was recently there in April with my friends it was so fun!! I always go to Fl, but each time it gets more and more fun! Well the trams were confusing and took us forever to get back to the bus station and then to the hotel, but thats cuz we are a bunch of smart 16 year olds...
the first night we just hung out on the broadwalk which was really nice...the next morning we had breakfast with disney characters (never too old...) and then took a boat MGM...which is so fun, I suggest get a fast pass for Rockin N Rollercoaster and go on Tower of Terror, thats what we did and it worked out nicely...best rides there!!
that night we went over to downtown disney and had dinner at a cheap italian resturant which was good! and then to Magic Kingdom at night. Surprisingly it was packed and it was like 10 at night, and we did Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Haunted Castle, Pirates of the Carribeane...it was nice, we didnt go on Space Mountain because it was being worked on and even when it was fixed it was still bit sketchy because it had been broken a few times in the past few days *Ive never cared much for that ride*
I also went to Epcot for a day and did the singles line for Test Track and even though I was not in the same car as my friends, the ride went by sooo quickly and I suggest if your daughter is at the age when you can separate do the singles line because it goes by much faster and you still have a chance of being with them
but Prob. one of my favorite places when we were down in Disney was Universal Island of Adventure!! I loved that place so much and the roller coasters were so much fun (the hulk, dueling dragons) but I refused to leave my friends and wouldnt go singles, Im a wimp...but it was sooo fun!!! and they also had good water rides at Island of Adventure

I love Walt Disney World!! I've been there twice, and we're going there for a graduation present next summer!! I can't wait!! One of my favorite rides is Splash Mountain. My mom didn't look when we went down the biggest splash, but I looked!! :D
I'm so mad that they tore down the Peter Pan ride. I loved that ride.
Oooh, I remember one time when we were there, we (my parents and I) rode The Pirates of the Caribbean at midnight!! It was sooo spooky.
Another time, when we were on The Haunted Mansion, it kept stopping. That was the most spookiest time at the Haunted Mansion. I love that ride, though.
Anyway, I hope you have fun! :)
