LOL... wait, there's a DVD? Since when? Maybe it'll be his Christmas special... or his solo summer tour, but wouldn't we have noticed cameras filming it for a special? I don't know... still cool nonetheless.
Every concert I went to, there were cameras. They were on the sides and Id see them moving all around. *crosses fingers*

Ahh I hope he gets close enough to you!!!!! Tix for the Lowell one go on sale tomorrow, so I gotta drive early to get to the ticketmaster outlet. Oy. Hope I dont get lost.

I looked at the tour schedule...

• Pasadena—11/21
• Phoenix—11/22
• El Cajon, CA—11/23
• Costa Mesa—11/26
• San Jose—11/27
• Salt Lake City—11/29
• Sewell, NJ—12/2
• Providence—12/3
• Baltimore—12/4
• Lowell, MA—12/8
• New York—12/9
• Wallingford, CT—12/10
• Raleigh, NC—12/13

• Orlando—12/16
• Atlanta—12/17 &18
• Chicago—12/20
• Cleveland—12/21
• Pittsburgh—12/22
• Detroit—12/23

Seriously, to add more dates this late... it's highly doubted and plus he's already performing multiple nights in a row. I don't even see an opening where he could perform here. It's packed as it it. Unless he has a show on the 19th here...but that would mean 9 days in a row of performances...so that's a no. Christmas Eve show here... which I would assume not and I wouldn't expect him to anyways. I was hopeful, but now I'm looking at it realistically...It'd be awesome if I'm wrong and he adds dates, but I don't see it happening. Thank God for that Christmas special though... I'm so recording that!

I hope you get awesome seats though... take pictures and soak up all the Clay goodness you can! LOL... good luck on your ticket mission!

It's almost 400 miles or about a 7 hour drive... not a distance I could travel. It would be an awesome gift for Christmas... but I so would be the only one doing the traveling... and I don't wanna go alone! So, I'm thinkin' no Christmas Clay concert. Oh well... there will be other tours.

I'm glad somebody here gets to go! It sounds like it'll be awesome, of course. I wouldn't assume anything less.

Thats a long drive! Hmm.. I keep thinking of ideas lol. Maybe you can get your friend to go with you again. OR if you want, take a bus or train ride (unless you drive  ) with your parents and stay for the weekend. While you see Clay, they can go out and enjoy the city.:D

LOL... thanks. You're such a doll trying to think of ways for me to go see Clay. It's alright if I don't see him. It would be fun and awesome, but it's not gonna happen. Both my family and myself are having some monetary difficulties at this time and concerts aren't in the budget. Those are good ideas though; in the future I'll try those out... but now just isn't a good time.

*sigh* He'll have a second album eventually and that means another tour and I'm sure he'll stop here again... who knows, maybe even a book tour, which Mall of America would be a great place! I would so be there!

Saturday Night... Live?
By Michael Allison - AngryCountry.com Staff Writer

Saturday Night Live was not as "Live" as people expected last night. Musical Guest Ashlee Simpson poorly lip-synched her first song, and then a technical glitch or mistake led to the wrong vocal track being played for her second performance proving her fraud as she stood there confused while her recorded voice filled the airwaves . Simpson's band picked up the slack, attempting to save the show as Ashlee walked off the stage. Just a minute in (on a musical segment usually four or more minutes long) SNL pulled the plug, cutting quickly to a commercial.

Also this week it has been suggested that the vocal performance of "God Bless America" by a very talented country artist during the Major League Baseball playoffs was also pre-recorded, though having watched that game myself I am not certain that it was not just an audio delay in that case. I can say that I have attended concerts where it seemed that at least some of the performance was taped, and I routinely see performances on TV where the lip movements of the artist doesn't match the sound.

Lip-synching is nothing new (Remember Milli Vanilli) but for some reason it has become more accepted, especially for television shows and special events. But is it fair? Is it fair to the fans who tune in to see a LIVE performance, for them to instead be presented with a living puppet acting out a CD track? I don't think so. And more than unfair, I think it's a fraudulent act. Tricking people into believing they are watching a live performance should not be allowed.

My solution is a simple one... but it will not be popular with the untalented artists and unscrupulous promoters of the world: Concerts and television broadcasts should be required to specify when a performance is not LIVE both vocally and visually. I've been sitting here for twenty minutes trying to figure out a politically correct and kind phrase to serve as the disclaimer for this new rule, but so far I've come up empty. No one is going to warn viewers or concert attendees that their performance is going to be lip-synched. Perhaps they could label it a "dramatic performance" which would at least admit that they are 'acting' like singers, without actually singing.

Obviously this wouldn't apply to scripted television (such as sitcoms) and movies where the audience expects to see acting and special effects, but when someone gets on stage at a concert or televised show (SNL, award shows, Variety shows, etc) there is an expectation of a genuine musical performance.

Live should mean Live, and if it's not live be honest about it!

Reader Responses:

I am surprised this is news to anybody, however I have a different perspective than most. I am an audio engineer (the guy running the sound console) and musical acts have been using "tape" for as long as I can remember. The digital audio provided to the mix engineer has multiple tracks. One of the tracks is a click track for timing that the band hears so they can play at the beat necessary for the synched vocal tracks. This is more common than not these days. My 2 cents. Bryan

It looks like you're the first news site in the universe to pick up on Ashlee Simpson's SNL debacle last night. Just wanted to say kudos! Regards, Billy

The lip-synching of the national anthem at ballparks is out of necessity. The acoustics of a park cause confusion with a singer due to the fact that it echoes and makes the singer hear the 3 second delay. It is the singers voice just taped so it will be flawless at the park. Jim
Editor's Response: A valid point, but I have seen the Anthem performed truly live enough times to know it can be done.

I was really surprised when I looked today on-line and saw you were the only people who mentioned Ashlee Simpson's "technical glitch" last night on "Saturday Night Live". Never in my life had I witnessed something like that and then to blame it all on her band playing the wrong song!? It just proves what people thought all along, God obviously prefers Jessica Simpson better. Elizabeth

Ashlee Simpson an artist? I don't think so. Can't perform live? Stay home. Daryl

Thanks so much for the explanation of what happened on Saturday Night Live on Oct 23/24 with Ashlee Simpson. I was just confused and your site thus far is the only one on the web that explains what happened. David

Saturday Night Live is live, by all means. A technical glitch only supports that fact further. Tim
Editor's Response to Tim: My point was that the musical performance is not "live" if the artist is lip-synching to pre-recorded vocals. Her dancing was live, her comments were live, but she did not SING live.

The Ashlee Simpson fiasco on SNL was inexcusable...but her "excuse" was the best...the band started playing the wrong song!!!! Ummm, didn't they rehearse 2 songs? I have no respect for "artists" that are successful because of studio recording enhancements and cannot perform live...

Now....have you been to a Clay Aiken performance? The kid is better live than on any of his recordings. How many others can stake that claim? Gloria Editor's Response to Gloria: Yes, I have seen Clay Aiken perform in concert and I agree completely. Clay is easily the best Pop vocal talent of his generation.

Unfortunately, I can't listen. I have this rule for albums I know that I'm going to get regardless. Only one preview song or 2 clips... and well I downloaded Mary Did You Know weeks ago. I must be strong until next week. LOL...

Guests for his Christmas special are Barry Manilow (like we didn't know that), Yolanda Adams, and Megan Mullaly (sp?)... should be an interesting special.

Make sure you get TV Guide this week or so... Clay is on the cover!

QUOTE
From the It's Really Not Just Us Files...

Spoke to a friend of mine tonight from my music industry days in Nashville. I haven't talked to him in quite a while. He's done everything with practically everybody. U2, McCartney, Elton John, Springsteen, Rolling Stones, Jackson Browne, Phil Collins, Moody Blues, Santana, Matchbox 20...names keep coming, I could go on and on. He's a musician, songwriter, engineer, producer...truly brilliant and deeply inner connected.

Right away I'm dying to talk to him about Clay, get his reaction. I don't have to wait at all. He asks what I'm up to and I tell him. Of course Clay comes into the conversation.

"Now there's a guy who's going places," he says."You think so?" I ask.

"Oh yeah. He is THE buzz right now. And in the circles he's really kind of a mystery."
"What do you mean?"

"Well, you know at first with the Idol thing it was like, okay, flash and burn...fifteen minutes and poof. But he shocked the hell out of everybody when they really heard him. He's got a voice that made everybody pretty much drop their pants."
(I'm seriously biting my lip now.)
He continues. "You know the music industry right now is floundering...it's all over the place. Sure, it has it's peaks and valleys, but there's no defining element. I'm telling you...he could be it. There's a buzz and it's everywhere, at every level. I hear it in the studios, I hear it from the execs, I hear it from musicians...this kid is shaking the rafters. He's going to be around for a long time, and he's already a force to be reckoned with."
"So why won't they play him on the radio?" I ask.
"Radio is and has always been a mafia. With what he's got...who cares if he's on the radio? Ten years from now...hell, two years from now he will be so huge that will be a joke. People are already begging."
"Begging?"
"He is one of the hottest commodities around. But I hear he is very selective. That's the best sign of all. He either has a good head on his shoulders, good management...or both.""So...do you like him?"

"I have to admit, at first I didn't pay much attention. But then I caught him on some late-night show. Don't remember which one. I was riveted. I couldn't believe his stage presence. And that voice! It just does something...I don't know, he grabs you somewhere, takes something vital and leaves you...I honestly don't know how to describe it. He's a superstar...no doubt about it. I wish I had a piece. So does everyone else."

I have been floating ever since this conversation. We know...we've always known. But now they know, too.

I dont think Clay is the surprise guest. Rumor is it could be Paul McCartney. Cept Paul isnt "one of the hottest male artists today". I mean, hes whickedly popular, but not the kind of popular he was.

CLAY DID A PRESS CONFERENCE!!

What can people expect from your show? The hits?

No, we're going to focus only on Christmas stuff--Christmas songs on the album and a few other songs that weren't on the album that I like a lot and enjoy performing. No "Invisible" with the orchestra. Nothing from a previous album or anything like that. It's going to be a very classy and polished show, hopefully. Some production, but little. Mostly just the music. That's kind of what I like to do, is focus on the singing and the music and all of that stuff. That's what our goal is. Make it music oriented and hopefully people will leave feeling in the Christmas spirit.

How did your book, "Learning to Sing," come about?

After the first year of doing all I had done, [I was presented with] option to do a biography. I thought "Goodness, gracious. I'm only 25. There's no reason to do a biography." The opportunity came about first. Then we crafted a way to make it make sense for me, and what I was doing and what I wanted to say. It was less my idea, and more someone else's. It was my idea to make it more of a memoir book. It is an opportunity for me to talk about people and experiences that I've had in the last 25 years; what those experiences meant to me; what those people meant to me; and what I learned from each person. Whether it's a good thing or a bad thing, my momma always told me to learn something from everything that happens to you, good or bad.

Who are you targeting with your book?

I think, with the book, there's not a target audience, per se. I don't imagine that everyone who reads it is going to get some sort of a life-changing lesson from it. I don't believe it at all. I think a lot of people will read it, enjoy it and use it as a coaster. [Laughs] I talk a lot about my experience with my stepfather. I think at some point there has to be people out there who have had similar experiences with their stepchildren or step-parent. If one person's able to read it and say, "I'm going through the exact same thing," if one person just learns anything, that's what the target audience is. I'm not trying to teach anybody how to do anything--I don't think I'm smart enough, old enough or wise enough to do that. I just want to share what I've gone through. If it helps someone or if someone could relate, that's what my target audience is.

How did you chose the songs for your Christmas album?

Most of the songs on the album were songs that I've always wanted to sing live. Despite which genre you lean toward in regular music all year, everyone has a favorite Christmas song and everyone has a Christmas song that they remember as they're growing up. I picked the ones that I liked the best and enjoyed singing. The show is going to be beautiful. ... I'm looking forward to the whole orchestra. It's proving to be quite a challenge. We're going to have a different orchestra every evening. We're also going to use local elementary school choirs and high school choirs. It's quite a big undertaking. We're finding it to be interesting. ... We're trying to put something together that's very classy. I'm used to doing arena shows where people are shouting and holding up signs. This time, they're all in auditoriums. We're going to do a more classy show that flows together much more smoothly. Hopefully, we'll have a few less signs and a few less people shouting "Clay, I love you" in the middle of the songs. We're slowly getting it together. I'm sure it will be pulled together.

Since you came in second place on "American Idol," I've talked to ["American Idol" alumni] Diana DeGarmo and JoJo, both of whom look at you as inspiration. What do you think about that and what do you think about always being associated with "American Idol"?

I don't think they should look up to me. I don't think I did anything differently than anyone else that's come in second place, whether they've become more successful or not. I think it's about just continuing to have faith in your ability to do what you do and continuing to work for it. It's not about trying to follow in anybody else's footsteps. As far as being tied to "American Idol," it's a Catch 22. There are many reasons why I want to remain faithful to it. There's no way that this skinny little red-headed geeky dork from the South would have been successful in the way that I have been had it not been for that show. I owe where I am today to the opportunities that I got on that show and people that I met and the relationships that I had on that show. I also want to be around when the show's not around, when the show's had a bad season. I don't want the stigma to follow me.

I think there's a stigma that comes with "American Idol." I think there are people who see "American Idol" as a talent competition that does not produce reputable artists or reputable performers. That's something that all of us would like to kill. The person who won in Australia said there's no stigma that comes from being on "Australian Idol." You come right off the show and everyone accepts you into the community of performers, and nobody mentions the fact that you came off of a reality show. I think if we had that, then none of us would care. In American society, people see it as a reality show because we have such a boon of reality shows going on right now. I think we don't want to be considered reality show contestants. We'd rather be considered singers, the performers that we are. I feel I have to constantly prove that I'm more than a reality contestant.

Do you think the show has run its course?

The producers do an amazing job of keeping it fresh. They'll probably change some things up this year again. [Last season], they put a few people in the studio audience for the top 32, which is something we didn't have. They sang with a band live on stage a couple times. They did their best to keep it fresh and new. How long will the format itself be acceptable? I'm not sure. I can't be psychic and guess how long it will last. I guess as long as it continues to stir up a lot of controversy and keep them talking around the water cooler. The key is finding two people who can bring about the amount of competition that a big black man from Birmingham, AL, and a skinny white guy from North Carolina can bring about. I think that's the key.

What do you have planned for 2005?

A nap. After December, I think were going to take a little bit of time off in January, work a lot with the Bubel Aiken Foundation in February and do some projects for that. I've had so many projects on the burner for the past few months that I haven't had enough time to devote to the foundation. Then, at some point, I'll get back to doing another studio album. I'm not sure when we'll get down to business for that. It's been a busy year. This is my third tour of the year. I'd like to sit down for a moment.

Ohh I cannot wait to see him! But I wish he did do some songs off of MOAM. Poo.

Clay Aiken Remembers Christmas Follies

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Clay Aiken has fond memories of holidays at home - driving 40 minutes back from Durham with a fake Christmas tree sticking through the back windows of his packed car because his family waited too long to buy a real tree.

"Most of America is accustomed to things going wrong" around the holidays, Aiken said. "Those are the memories I think are the funniest."

But one thing the self-described "skinny, redheaded, geeky little dork from the South" hopes goes off without a hitch this holiday season is his 21-city Joyful Noise tour, which begins Sunday in Pasadena, Calif.

"This is a different kind of concert," said Aiken. "It's not meant to be a show where fans bring signs and scream. The goal is to be more intimate, almost semiformal. The crew will be dressed up in their Sunday best and I hope the audiences will do the same."

Aiken - plus a conductor and 20-piece orchestra - will perform a holiday-only repertoire from his "Merry Christmas With Love" album, which features standards such as "Winter Wonderland" and "Silent Night."

The 25-year-old singer has been named a spokesman for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign, so Marines will be collecting toys at each stop on the tour.

Aiken will be among the performers on NBC's "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" special to air Nov. 30, and will star in "A Clay Aiken Christmas" Dec. 8 also on NBC.

He was recently named a national ambassador for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, and he has a new book, "Learning to Sing."

For some reason, I knew this was coming... he's been on the go for so long! AI iteself, 4 tours, recording the MOAM and the Christmas album, writing the book, appearances all over, AND all his charity work? It was only a matter of time before he'd get sick or hurt his voice. He really needs to take a vacation... a long one... which it sounds like he will get once the new year is over.

Until then, I hope he gets better soon! I can tell you from experience... ear infections suck... let alone having the sinus infection to go with, that really sucks.

Ruben Studdard Hospitalized

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — "American Idol" winner Ruben Studdard has been hospitalized for pneumonia and has canceled his concert at Alabama State University set for Wednesday night, a spokeswoman for the university said.

Julie Debardeleben told a Birmingham television station that Studdard's promoter, Farmer James, said the singer has pneumonia and is hospitalized at Saint Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham.

His condition was not immediately available.

WBRC, a FOX News affiliate in Birmingham, has heard unconfirmed reports from Studdard's family that his hospitalization is related to recent weight loss and his heart and not pneumonia.

The 26-year-old R&B crooner, dubbed the "Velvet Teddy Bear" for his large size, has tipped the scales at 360 pounds.

In September, Big News Network reported that Studdard had moved to L.A. to work with the "Extreme Fitness Team" of "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson and trainer-to-the-stars Gunnar Peterson.

WCRB confirmed that Studdard is in the hospital. A statement or press release is expected later Tuesday.

Debardeleban said ASU is working on refunds. Studdard's new album, "I Need an Angel," hits stores Tuesday.

"Merry Christmas With Love" Sales Numbers
Hits Daily Double reports that "Merry Christmas with Love" sold 265,535 copies in its opening week, putting Clay at #4 in sales and making it this week's highest debuting album! Variety, which reports Soundscan's weekly sales figures, reports, "Three newcomers break into the top 10: Clay Aiken's "Merry Christmas With Love" (RCA) and Snoop Dogg's "R&G: The Masterpiece" (Geffen), selling 260,000 and 230,000 respectively."

According to our research, Clay's sales of 260,000 appears to set a new record for first-week sales of a Christmas album in the Soundscan era. Previously, the highest opening week for a Chrismas album seems to be 126,000, by Celine Dion's "These are Special Times" in 1998. Pending confirmation from Billboard/Soundscan, it looks like "Merry Christmas With Love" may have doubled the previous record.

Clay Aiken Looking To Get Even More Positive On Next LP

Singer found his last album depressing.

If Clay Aiken seems cheery now, just wait.

"I think the next album should have more positive stuff," the singer said earlier this week. "This last album kind of depressed me, a lot of stuff about heartbreak and stuff that I really don't know too much about. So the next album will hopefully have a little bit more upbeat sound to it."

It could also find Aiken recording with artists outside his genre, as Martina McBride and Faith Hill are both on his collaboration wish list. "I really like that some female country artists have amazing voices and they are about the music and not about the sensationalism," he explained. "A lot of their songs are very pure."

Claymates need not begin planning record-release parties, however, as Aiken is just starting to think about the proper follow-up to Measure of a Man and wants to take a substantial vacation before he returns to the studio.

Aiken, after all, deserves some time off. Between touring, recording a holiday album, writing a book and doing charity work, he's hardly relaxed since his debut hit shelves last fall (see "Clay Aiken Acts, Thinks And Sings His Way Through Measure Of A Man"). And the hectic pace won't let up until next year.

He will be taking off on a monthlong holiday trek called the Joyful Noise Tour, which was initially scheduled to kick off on November 21 in Pasadena, California. However, on Thursday, Aiken postponed the first three dates of the tour — Pasadena, November 22 in Phoenix, and November 23 in El Cajon, California — due to vocal-cord damage resulting from ongoing ear and sinus infections.

Those dates are being rescheduled and the new dates will be announced by next week, according to a statement released by Aiken's publicist. The tour will now start on November 26 in Costa Mesa, California.

Aiken is getting into the holiday spirit even more with his own special, "A Clay Aiken Christmas," which airs December 8 on NBC. The show will feature Aiken performing songs from his holiday album, Merry Christmas With Love, which was released Tuesday, as well as duets with Barry Manilow, Yolanda Adams and "Will & Grace" star Megan Mullally.

"I like that because I got the opportunity to sing with some real amazing performers who I've listened to for a long time," Aiken said.

"I've always loved Christmas music," he added. "I think everybody, no matter what kind of music they like, always has some holiday song that they like a lot."

For Aiken, that song is "Mary Did You Know," which he sings on the album and on the show. "It's one of my favorites simply because it's different," said the singer, who is also part of the "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" special airing November 30 on NBC. "It talks a lot about what Christmas is about, and it's in a minor key. It's a little bit different than most Christmas songs that you hear."

While Merry Christmas With Love is expected to be a smash hit with Aiken's Claymates, the singer is hoping his fans will also be open to buying his book, "Learning to Sing: Hearing the Music in Your Life," which he wrote while touring over the summer.

"It's a collection of essays about different people that I've met or experiences I've had in my life and what I learned from each experience," Aiken explained. "My mom told me to learn something from every single thing that happens to you, whether it's good or bad."

The book shows various sides of Aiken, including his charitable side, which seems to expand with each week. Last week at a Los Angeles McDonald's, he made a cement handprint that is being auctioned off on eBay to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities as part of the third annual World Children's Day, while this week he was named an ambassador for UNICEF, an organization dedicated to saving, protecting and improving the lives of children around the world.

"It's one of the best parts about the job," Aiken said. "And I think it's a responsibility. You don't get this type of audience and this type of stage just for yourself. I would have done nonprofit work before I did this job, and now I just get to do it on a much larger scale, which makes it really cool and a lot more fun."

Clay Aiken Shatters Sales Record, Making History With the Biggest Selling Debut in the SoundScan Era for a Holiday CD
Wednesday November 24, 9:00 pm ET

CD Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard Holiday Chart; DVD of Christmas Special Released Dec. 14
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Clay Aiken has had a phenomenal sales week. His new RCA Records Label release "Merry Christmas With Love," debuts at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Holiday Albums chart. Clay's holiday CD made history by selling 270,10 units in its first week, making it the biggest debut week sales figure for a Christmas album in the SoundScan era. The CD debuts at No. 4 on The Billboard 200, the highest debut for a holiday album in six years since Celine Dion.
· (Photo: NewsCom: www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/p...124/NYW110 )
"Merry Christmas With Love" is Clay's first Christmas CD. The follow-up to his triple-platinum album "Measure of a Man," the holiday set features classic Christmas songs like "Silent Night," "Winter Wonderland," "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)," and "Sleigh Ride," as well as some of Aiken's personal favorite tunes of the season, like "Don't Save It All for Christmas Day" and "Mary, Did You Know?" He also covers Sandi Patty "Merry Christmas With Love." Clay's holiday album was produced by Walter Afanasieff and Phil Ramone.
Clay could be topping more charts soon, as a DVD of his NBC-TV Christmas special will be released on Dec. 14. "A Clay Aiken Christmas," with guest stars Barry Manilow, and Yolanda Adams, airs on NBC Wednesday, Dec. 8 (8-9 p.m. EST and PST).
Clay will also be seen on the special "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" on Nov. 30 and on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on Dec. 6, "The Today Show" on Dec. 8 and "The View" on Dec. 9.
He is currently on "The Joyful Noise Tour," performing songs from his Christmas album in venues across the country. Aiken is traveling with a conductor and a 20-piece orchestra. In some cities, he will be supported by the local Philharmonic or symphony.
"This is a different kind of concert," says Aiken, who is setting out on his fourth tour of the U.S. in the last 18 months. "It's not meant to be a show where fans bring signs and scream. The goal is to be more intimate, almost semi-formal. The crew will be dressed up in their Sunday best and I hope the audiences will do the same."
During the tour, Aiken will appear in stores for book signings of "Learning to Sing" in Raleigh, Chicago, Cleveland and Orlando.

"Kelly, Ruben & Fantasia: Home for Christmas." Last week's "American Idol" holiday special attracted only 5.6 million viewers Wednesday night because, hello, no Clay Aiken. - Washington Post

The holiday spirit also was in short supply for NBC's broadcast of It's a Wonderful Life (71st place, 5.9 million). Ditto for Fox's Clay Aiken-less American Idol special, Kelly, Ruben, Fantasia: Home for Christmas (74th place, 5.6 million). - Eonline

AIKEN FOR AN IDOL:He may have lost the "American Idol" tal ent contest to Ruben What's-His-Name, but in the days since the loss, Clay Aiken has proved to be the real winner: He's had a very successful solo album, a couple of major arena tours and now the nerdy singer released a pretty good holiday album.

Aiken will reprise his best-known, best-loved songs along with a Christmas program at the Theater at Madison Square Garden Thursday at 8 p.m. For all the Aken breakin' headbangers out there, hate Clay because he's soft, but give him big respect as one of the few vocalists in popular music who sings every note you hear in concert. Tickets are $45 - $80. The Theater is located in Madison Square Garden, Seventh Avenue between 32nd and 33rd streets.
Ruben whats-his-name :rofl::rotflmao:.

And I looove the compliment they give him at the end. Give the boy respect! :biglove::heart:

A very nice review of MCWL...

Merry Christmas With Love
Clay Aiken

Review by Duane Wells

Clay Aiken’s voice is to Christmas music what butter is to toast…a rich and satisfying complement to a simple delight. He may not have won the competition, but American Idol Clay Aiken proves why he’s leading the pack in record sales with his first Christmas album, simply titled “Merry Christmas With Love”, which had the best-selling debut week for a Christmas album in Soundscan history.

Over the years, the best Christmas albums in my opinion have been those where the artist re-interprets classic Christmas songs without destroying the integrity of the songs by layering on trendy musical licks and rap solos. Using this as a measure, “Merry Christmas With Love” is an all out success. Rather than try to re-invent the Christmas wheel so to speak, Clay Aiken embraces traditional Christmas songs and uses his stellar voice, not studio tricks, to put his own original stamp on the classics. The result is a Christmas album that feels highly personal, rather than overly commercial. Rather than musical performances, the songs on Aiken’s album feel like sing-a-longs…that is until you attempt to actually sing along and realize that while Clay makes singing theses songs sound effortless, it is indeed not…at least not if you want to sound like him.

Aiken soars on holiday favorites like “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and “O Holy Night”, on which slides up and down the musical scales of the song with the ease of a singer twice his age, as well as on a brilliant medley of “Hark The Herald Angels Sing” and “O Come All Ye Faithful”, which he breathes new life into with glittering vocals. However, nothing tops Clay on non-traditional fare like the contemporary title track “Merry Christmas With Love”, the haunting “Mary Did You Know” and his remake of Celine Dion’s “Don’t Save It All For Christmas Day” in which he sustains a note so powerful, for so long that I would challenge even super-diva Patti LaBelle to match it.

If there is one criticism that could be made of Clay’s Christmas outing it is that in some places the album is almost too safe…so bland that it borders on being forgettable. In fact I forgot that “Silent Night” and “Joy To The World” were even on the album because they sounded so familiar that I tuned them out completely. However this is a trifle, given that in the spectrum of Christmas albums, Clay Aiken has succeeded where more seasoned stars have failed. He has delivered a Christmas album that is timeless in its appeal and as such will have a long shelf life and provide it’s listeners with years of enjoyment. Crown or no crown, “Merry Christmas With Love” demonstrates that Clay Aiken is more than a pop culture phenomenon…he is the genuine article.

From Mediaweek:
Quote:
Second in the overnights behind Lost (which does not cease to amaze me, by the way, given the constant plot curve balls) was NBC special A Clay Aiken Christmas (6.4/ 9), followed by CBS' 60 Minutes (6.3/10). A Clay Aiken Christmas, which could be used as a cure for insomnia if you taped it, was fourth among adults 18-49 with a 2.0/ 5. Note: 60 Minutes aired in only 43-metered markets due to preemptions caused by Billy Graham and St. Jude's.

On Fox, the 2004 Billboard Music Awards sprung a leak, dipping to a record low 4.7/ 7 in the overnights, 6.73 million viewers and a 3.1/ 8 among adults 18-49. Comparably, that was a decline of 28 percent in the overnights, 3.08 million viewers and 33 percent among adults 18-49 from last year's telecast (6.5/10; Viewers: 9.81 million; A18-49: 4.6/12 on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003). Note: viewers and adults 18-49 for last year's Billboard Music Awards were based on the final nationals

(This also beat out AI christmas Special.)

Monica Yant Kinney | Hey, Idol: Quit bullying kids
By Monica Yant Kinney
Inquirer Columnist
If students earned grades from the school of hard knocks, the teenagers in Clearview Regional High's Vocal Ensemble deserve an A for stomaching the sour taste of fame.

Give the grownups around them high marks, too, for trying to protect the kids from another close encounter of the mean kind with aw-shucks American Idol star Clay Aiken.

Me, I'm not afraid of freckle face.

He has more hair than I do, but I could take him in a wrestling match.

And I have a zero-tolerance policy for Hollywood heavies pulling ego trips on teenagers and teachers.

Which is what happened last week when the Gloucester County school's vocal group got the opportunity of a lifetime to sing with Aiken at his sold-out concert in Washington Township.

By night's end, the Claymates had been bullied and berated. They were stiffed for their services.

When one grown-up dared to speak up, Aiken dressed her down.

He told her she was a disgrace.

Only it wasn't some pushy stage mom he had tossed from the performance hall. It was the 2003 New Jersey teacher of the year.

Not that she, or anybody at Clearview, wants to relive the humiliation.

They fear paybacks. Supposedly, the boy toy threatened to "make trouble" if they talked to reporters.

As one parent confided: "My son wants a future in show business. I don't want him saying anything negative about the industry."

The story of fear and loathing in the key of C begins before Thanksgiving.

That's when the Clearview singers got a last-minute invite to perform with Aiken when his "Joyful Noise Tour" stopped here last Thursday.

Not long ago, Aiken was just another geek with glasses and bad hair.

Thanks to his American Idol makeover, he's adored by teenage girls, gay men, and a group calling itself Lecherous Broads for Clay Aiken.

As I type, he's got both an inspirational memoir and CD on the charts.

"A Clay Aiken Christmas" aired on NBC last night, with Barry Manilow among the very special guests.

Tickets for his concert cost up to $127.50. At his official Web site, www.clayaiken.com, you can even buy holiday wrapping paper stamped with Clay's face for $15.

Clearview's Vocal Ensemble doesn't have a merchandising deal yet, but it does have a sterling reputation.

It has sung Mozart's Requiem at Carnegie Hall. It has performed on the Today show.

Details of the students' real-life pop opera emerged from interviews with people too scared to let me quote them - and from one teacher's account e-mailed to friends and posted at the Web site www.gawker.com.

Those in the know confirmed all the ugly details.

How Aiken went diva on them and reneged on promised face time and autographs with the students.

How he sicced security goons on a student who snapped a photo during rehearsal. How he fought with the award-winning teacher who dared to stand up for her kids.

How the pop star's people made a big show of handing over a promised $500 donation to the Vocal Ensemble - and how the envelope was empty.

And how Aiken's crew kept the students hungry for hours, only to deliver a meager supply of ice-cold chicken nuggets just before show time.

Happy Meals - for high schoolers?

What were they thinking?

I'm not surprised Aiken's reps didn't return a call for comment.

After teachers told me they couldn't talk, Clearview Superintendent Mike Toscano spoke for all of them.

Ever diplomatic, he said the brush with greatness had taught the students lessons they could never get in a classroom.

"They got a bigger picture of the music industry," Toscano said.

"They got their eyes opened. They got a taste of real-life show business maybe they didn't have before."

And if sours them on it for good?

They can thank the American Idol

Fort Garrison Students Perform with Clay Aiken
at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall
Story by
Marjorie Hampson
Communications Specialist
Photos by
Phyllis Rosen
Fort Garrison Technology Integration Teacher

When the call went out from the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore asking for a children’s chorus to sing with American Idol star Clay Aiken in concert on Saturday, December 4, Maryland State Delegate Bobby Zirkin immediately thought of the Fort Garrison Elementary “Clarke's Larks Chorus!” Delegate Zirkin called Principal Susan Hershfeld on the 1st of December to book this prestigious engagement for the fifth grade choral group. Pleased, excited, and honored, the school accepted the unique invitation. Under the direction of Connie Clarke, vocal music teacher, and with only two days until the big night, the “Clarke's Larks” started to rehearse.
Over thirty Fort Garrison choral students arrived at the Symphony Hall on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. to rehearse, this time with Aiken and his back-up singers, for the 8:00 p.m. show. The group performed two selections with Clay Aiken in the sold-out spectacular holiday show. One student performed a solo, and other individual students read passages during a holiday song. Aiken’s The Joyful Noise Tour also included members of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, who accompanied Aiken and the students throughout the show.
American Idol pop star Aiken was gracious and complimentary of the students, remarking about their professionalism and musical ability. Needless to say, the “Clarke’s Larks” reciprocated the sentiments!

Thanks for the review Crystal! It sounds like you had a great time. And what's up with that green sweater? I said to my husband while watching the Christmas Special, "Is that the best he could wear?" He should have dressed like his guests, Yolanda (is that her name?) looked gorgeous, Barry Manilow had a great suit on. Megan Mullaly was dressed in her holiday finest. There was Clay, in his worn out jeans and that sweater.
That's my only complaint about the show. Otherwise, it was great.

That's my only complaint about the show. Otherwise, it was great. No prob. Oh I had a blast! Lastnight was good too, but I found Wed. to be better. His voice cracked every once in a while lastnite and the audience wasnt as... interactive it seems. People were also taking pictures with FLASH which he has been saying for a while that the flashes really bother his eyes. So I noticed he didnt look into the audience as much- mostly up to facing the choir.
Ugh that sweater was hideous! I love him in green, but I dont like when he wears baggy sweaters. He usually dresses up pretty nice. My fav. outfit from the concerts is his black suit.:drool:

LOL... until this quarter is over, I may not be here much. This quarter it seems practical to just move on campus. I'm there more than I'm at home now... I was just reading that! What happened to his BREAK? Was it just a weekend or something? LOL...

Just a humorous story, my Composition teacher was asked the class to name 3 likes/3 dislikes... and she went around the room. "My likes are the color purple, ice cream, and Clay Aiken. Dislikes are olives, pickles, and no snow in winter." The whole class were obvious rock or rap fans, not his kind of fan base. The teacher was like 'extra credit for being a Clay fan... and for admitting in front of this crowd.' *sigh* My new favorite teacher

Just thought I'd share that I got an "A" on my argumentation paper. LOL... I argued that Clay should have won AI and that time has proven that he did win. My teacher loved it... and she showed it to her husband: a local music producer! She told me that he loved it as well. He says "It'll only be a matter of time before people realize he's the real deal. It's great to hear a guy who can actually sing out there and doing well despite hardly any airplay. He'll be around a LONG TIME..." I knew I was gonna love this teacher

Thanks... I feel pretty good about it too. I actually decided to post on the Clayboard. It's now like 4 pages long. I don't tend to be noticed much so I was shocked. I figured it fell off into vast ocean of lost Clay threads

Just about every message board I'm a part of... either I'm a thread killer (as in after I post, the thread disappears never to be seen again) or I post a topic that there's discussion over that discussion, ... so to see a 4 page thread on something as simple as my paper, it really made my day!

Yay... evening class midterm done! Now it's time to go home and watch AI... before I come back to school... again. I'm here way more than I like... the librarians looking at me funny too. Posting on message boards isn't 'proper computer usage' I gather. OH well... talk to you later!

Ex-'Idol' Hires Clay's Lawyer
Thursday, March 17, 2005
By Roger Friedman

"Personal reasons" be damned. The secret is out (and so is the album).

Mario Vazquez, the guy who suddenly quit "American Idol" last week, has been "Clayed," or should I say, "Aiwakened?"

He's hired former "Idol" runner-up Clay Aiken's high-powered record-industry lawyer. And he may have jeopardized his "amateur" status by being featured on an album that's already been released.

Vazquez, I've learned, has gotten Atlanta entertainment lawyer Jess L. Rosen to represent him. Coincidentally — or not, depending on how you look at it — Rosen is most famous for extricating Aiken from his octopus-tentacled "American Idol" management contract with Simon Fuller's 19 Entertainment last year.

Unbeknownst to anyone, Mario is featured on an album that was originally released last May and had a re-release this week, according to Amazon.com. He sings several pop songs as the only guest vocalist on "Worlds of Change," by an Argentine flamenco and R&B guitarist named Cesar.

The whole thing, which sounds like Santana with a younger, more sanctimonious Michael Jackson, can be heard on this Web site (http://nowchinatown.com/cesar.html). My guess is some enterprising record exec will pick up the whole thing from Los Angeles-based Darque Records and release it under Mario's name.

Someone else will have to decide if that CD violated the "American Idol" rules. The show's Web site states: "In order to be eligible, the contestants are not permitted to have any CURRENT recording or talent-management agreements."

In leaving the show, Vasquez was obviously convinced of the value of bowing out now rather than continuing through the needless process of competition. Aiken would be his role model.

After losing "American Idol" to Ruben Studdard, Aiken realized that he was stuck with a management contract that kept him with Fuller, the show's owner, for years to come at a very high commission.

Rosen got him out of it and moved him over to Jeff Kwatinetz's behemoth agency, The Firm.

The result is that there is now nary a mention of the lovable, Barry Manilow-like Aiken on the "American Idol" Web site, except for unflattering pictures of him in his pre-makeover nerd days. Ouch!

So I guess it's fairly clear that Mario's "personal reasons" were specifically about the money he could make if he bolted the show before being indebted to them legally and financially for a couple of years.

Rosen, who did not return calls, prides himself on negotiating contracts for artists, according to his Web site.

As for Mario, he's also now using Susan Blond for public-relations help. She's the famous PR lady who once made Michael Jackson's "Thriller" a hit.

Next will come rumors that Mario's been signed for management by Tommy Mottola and for recording by Sean Combs' Bad Boy Entertainment at Warner Bros.

No one confirms or denies this, but either way, Rosen will be racking up the billable hours keeping Vazquez out of court once Fuller realizes what's happened.

Clay did an interview with WRAL (a NC newstation) yesterday and today. this is the one from yesterday, and here's a transcript of the one from today:

Linda (to audience): Well sometimes it seems like formal Idol contestant is everywhere! He keeps his date book filled and this year is no different. Clay came back to Raleigh for a short visit and I talked to him about this year.

Linda: Clay Aiken just can’t sit still. He’s been on the go ever since he competed on American Idol 2 years ago. He said he planned to take some time off in Jan and Feb, but that didn’t happen.

CLAY: Obviously I got so bored. I said, yeah let’s go do Scrubs, let’s go do Kimmel. Let’s do... I mean I stated doing things I was so bored. I’m trying to get my house together. My mom’s coming out this week to try and put some curtains up and to help get it decorated.

Linda: Clay just got back from Indonesia, touring the tsunami devastated areas as a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF. In the next few weeks he’ll start working on a new album.

CLAY: I think the goal for me is try and make sure that I do something that is me that I really enjoy, and that I like everything on. That I’m proud of, more so than trying to get it out.

Linda: Clay spent 6 ½ months on the road last year. But he says he LOVES touring and wants to do it again this summer. Possibly what he calls an Americana Tour.

CLAY: There some such great music from the 40’s, 50’s 60’s and every decade. And my mom’s always been a fan of that stuff, and me singing that type of stuff. And I think people really enjoy that, and it’s fun to sing.

Linda: Clay also wants to write a children’s book this year. And if that’s not enough he’s also working on a Christmas tour.

CLAY: We definitely want to go back for Christmas this year. Um, we had, I had so much fun do the Christmas tour this past year. That’s it’s something I’d like to continue and make a tradition.

Linda (to audience): Man he really doesn’t sit still. He’s also planning another trip with UNICEF he’s going to Uganda in May. So he’s always busy doing something.

WE GET ANOTHER TOUR!!!!!!! AND A CD!!!!!! WAKUDY ASUDSA&DYSA

You lucky ducky! No date around here.... yet. At least I hope yet.

I really, really wanted to see Kelly Clarkson tonight. But I have my first class tonight, and it's my last quarter... so I can't skip it. But once again, I missed seeing when she was in town! I wanted to see the IT with Clay and Kelly, but nope. Couldn't go then either. Is it too much to ask to have those 2 schedule their concerts around MY schedule? I'm kidding... I just had to rant there.

My vote is that Scott goes tonight! On another message board, we had to predict who would go in what order. I've been exactly right for the past 3 weeks... I scheduled Scott's leave for this week. Hopefully, I'm right again.

I know... but she had better come back sometime! I ain't missing her concert again!

Actually, I was right! I looked at my 'schedule' of AI dismissals wrong. I got this week and the next mixed up. Nikko was scheduled for this week... and that's who left on Wed. I'll post the list... the game was to predict the order of elimination of this year's contestants. This is my list:

12. Lindsay Cardinale
11. Mikalah Gordon
10. Jessica Sierra
9. Nikko Smith
8. Scott Savol
7. Vonzell Solomon
6. Nadia Turner
5. Anthony Federov
4. Anwar Robinson
3. Constantine Maroulis
2. Bo Bice
1. And the next American Idol is Carrie Underwood.

So we'll see if I continue to be right!

The ABC morning show will join the Irish supergroup on its Vertigo tour, then broadcast five songs May 20. Other acts, which will perform live, include Rascal Flatts (May 27); Shakira (June 3); Santana (June 10); Ringo Starr (June 17); Jesse McCartney (June 24); Fantasia (July 22); Clay Aiken (July 29); Jessica Simpson (Aug. 5); and Keith Urban (Aug. 12). Avril Lavigne closes the series Aug. 26.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Spanish class at Lincoln East High School became a music lesson when Clay Aiken showed up to invite a pair of sisters to "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

Twin seniors Britney and Bethany Wekesser boarded "The Oprah Winfrey Wildest Dreams" bus Monday as their classmates watched and a camera crew filmed the event for an upcoming show.

Several classes went outside to see the bus pull up, thinking Winfrey would be inside. Aiken, an "American Idol" runner-up, stepped out instead, asking the girls to come to Chicago with him for the taping of Winfrey's show.

"They started jumping up and down. One of them, I think it was Bethany, lost her shoes. They were screaming," said classmate Jetz Jacobson. Someone at the school nominated the sisters for the show, Jacobson said.

Aiken sang "Bridge Over Troubled Water" for the students. Karen Wekesser, the twins' mother, said her daughters are fans of both Winfrey and Aiken. They are to go to Chicago next week, Wekesser said.

Been busy lately... finally got a chance to catch up on all Clay happenings. Rapunzel movie, Oprah, Dr. Phil, AI, the tour... my God, he's been keepin' busy!

Who saw Clay in the audience both nights of AI this week? I swore I saw him and then Ryan was all like 'Look who's here!'... of course, I freaked out when I saw him. That caused my family to rush to find out 'what happened' to which I responded 'Clay! He's on TV!' Family reaction:

Why was Constantine voted off and NOT Scott? I was thinkin' he'd be in the Top 3 at least! What's up with that?

Clay, PLEASE add a MN concert! Heck, I'll settle for Wisconsin and Iowa!

Clay had like two or three ND concerts listed last summer (Howdy, fellow neighbor! I LOVE MN!), including one that was right here in my city. The venue he was going to play at was like 2-3 blocks up the street from me, but they cancelled that date! It would've been mad cool if Clay had been in my city.

Yay Carrie! I actually got a friend who's anti-AI to watch... all because Rascal Flatts will be there - hint, hint *nudge, budge*

AI Related news... believe it or not. I now have 9 cats. We just declared a cat we found wandering in the neighborhood ours. He had a collar and we contacted the owner. Apparently, the owner moved to another state and we have no way of contacting them. So, the cat is ours now! He's so cute... and what's weird is his name is Bo  His collar said his name is "Boeggie" with that exact spelling mind you. So we've been calling him Bo for short. Now after watching AI my friend thinks we named the cat after Bo Bice

I was upgrading from 2004 to the 2005 version this past weekend... talked to people with Indian accents. Why is everything being outsourced to India? I did exactly what they told me to do... computer still crashed. I had working computer until their product! They were like 'Our product is fine. There's nothing wrong with it.' Then why isn't my computer booting up at all? I almost had to reinstall Windows XP and have to start over. I'm graduating college in a couple weeks! I can't lose everything! Thank God a computer company was able to fix the computer without my losing everything. *end of rant*

Annual fee: $11.88.
APR: None — this is a prepaid card.
Pros: Your child can use a card without sinking into credit card debt.
Cons: High fees; doesn't help build credit history.
Also consider: Visa Buxx, which is issued by six different banks. Fees are typically lower.

04:18 PM: My New Album
I guess I should be careful what I ask for from now on. I had started getting antsy with all of the downtime that we were having.

It's tough to have little to do. Now, I almost wish I had it back!

The tour is coming together nicely, and I'm THRILLED about how the next album is starting to sound. Jaymes Foster- Levy is executive producing it, and she is really quite great! We've been working for the past few months on finding songs that are not only great, but really say things that are significant to me. We even have a name for the new album. It's going to be called......

RIGHT!!!.. ... like I'm gonna tell you that yet!!

Current mood: Happy

The crew is slowly getting back together. It was really great to see Chris Gratton this week. Last year, between Independent, the summer tour, and Joyful Noise, we spent so much time on the road. It was really strange not having Chris and the band and crew around this winter and spring. Seeing everybody head back into town to get ready for the summer tour has been sort of like a family reunion. I'm starting to get quite excited about being out on the road for the rest of the year.

Oh.. and one more thing... who's coming to GMA??

03:20 PM: My Summer Vacation
Digging cars out of sand may not be the best way to spend your vacation, but it provides for some laughs and memories. For vacation this year, my friends and I chose a location on the outer banks of NC so isolated that there are actually no roads in or out. We had to drive 3 miles on the beach to get to the house. That was pretty cool.

Then the task of getting over a sand dune to get in the driveway. Not as cool. Driving on sand is not for the faint of heart. It took a good 40 minutes for us to get over the sand dune and 10 feet, constantly having to back up and speed up, and dig out of the sand.

The part of the outer banks that we were on is actually a sanctuary for wild horses. Hundreds of wild horses live all around the house and beach where we stayed. While it's extremely gorgeous to be sitting on the back porch of the house, looking out at the ocean, and see wild horses and colts walking down by the water, I can't help but wonder what the horses thought about while watching us try to dig two big SUVs out of 1000 tons of sand. I imagine we were just as much entertainment for them as they were for us.

04:59 PM: TV Guide Shoot
Well, I'm not sure if it was because I've spent so much time on "break" that I was refreshed, or if it was because all of the factors were just right. Maybe I had the right type of breakfast; maybe the moon was in the right place in the sky. Whatever the reason, I actually enjoyed a photo shoot the other day. I usually can't stand photo shoots. Having to change clothes over and over just so 10 people can tell me how to stand and how to smile and how to sit and how to **** my head to the side a little more (but not too much) has never really been enjoyable for me. So many of my friends say that they think that doing photo shoots would be their favorite part of this "job". Well they can have it!. But... we did the photo shoot for the cover of TV Guide a few days back. It wasn't so bad.
The people were very friendly. The clothes weren't horribly tight, so that was a nice departure from the norm. And I didn't want to throw my shoe at the photographer by the end of the day!!.... There's always next time! ;)

I think itd be cool if Clay called his CD Back For More. Its kinda got a double meaning, kind of like Britneys Oops!... I Did It Again. Id be disappointed if it was self-titled, but by the sounds of it I dont think it is.

These are pics I took from GMA and his concert. For his concert I had 24th row and they were pretty nice seats. For GMA I was about 5-6 people back or so and thats only because they had all these contest VIP winners up front, otherwise I wouldve been right up there. I camped out for 14 hours, starting at 6pm.

GMA was amazing!! The concert was even better!! I posted some pics in the random thread, Ill post them in a sec. The concert was *SO GOOD* that I decided to go to the NJ one too. Its like, 7 hours away, but hes doing 2 nights there so me and my mother are gonna go and spend a couple days in Atlantic City and live it up. Its a long show - about 2.5 hours and NO opening act. Ill get the set list too! Wahh sorry about the blog, I just remembered now!

GMA looked great... I so wanna go. I'll just have to live vicariously through other's posts,

Great pictures! I have pics from the show I went to, but they were really crappy. But I have some nice shots of the back other Claymates' hair! I have a few nice shots where you can actually see Clay, but he's as close as I thought. Oh well...

That is a long show... but hey, it's Clay, so I certainly wouldn't complain. Thank you so much for posting the blog entries! I'd give ya a boatload of rep points if this board provided those... but they don't. He so cute... I can here him reading his posts in his cute lil Southern twang! Thanks again!

What is everyones fav. new Clay song so far?

Back For More
1000 Days
Tears Run Dry
Just You

My fav. is DEF. Back For More. I prefer when Clay sings upbeaty songs [Invisible..] compared to ballads [The Way..]. Out of all his songs, this one seems to be the most 'radio friendly'. I also love Tears Run Dry. It is a slow song, but its really nice. Just You bores me and is too slow. I seem to be the only one who likes 1000 Days, though its not his greatest. By the sound of fan reaction, Tears Run Dry would probably make his cd and its pretty much a given Back For More will be on it too. :D

OMGAW you guys, we're on page 100. :woohoo:

Anyways, Sat,Sun, & Mon were my Clay concerts and they were AMAZING. Saturday at Gilford was by far my favorite. He was really into it and talking to the audience. He came out into the audience and walked about 10 feet in front of me. Hes so fast though I couldnt get a pic. I had 7th row but we were way on the right side and I like being more centered. There was an old lady in the front named Terri and she was a riot

Boston was really great too. I had front row, but this time I was waaay on the left. I hate taking pics at concerts because the lighting is horrible - especially at this tour - so I had to wait when he came over to my side. The videos I took though came out nice.

Vermont was Monday and it was ok. The grandstand was pretty much EMPTY, and the crowd was just... boring. I dunno why either, because a lot of them were the rabid type. We had 8th row center and since it started at 7, most of my early pics came out nice. I think Clay could tell though the audience wasnt as enthusiastic so he didnt seem as playful.

In Boston, he mentioned about coming back for Christmas aaaand going on tour next summer to promote his new cd :D.

05:57 PM: On the Road
How the time flies! We have a few photos that we’re putting up today to help show what we’ve been up to. As you can see, sometimes we have a little heavy lifting to do… Well actually, this car was stuck and almost everyone from the crew helped out to move the car. Talk about some teamwork!

When we were in Toledo the Zoo was nice enough to let a few of us go in the back area of the zoo. This is where we met Pedro the Penguin and all of his little buddies. If I could only adopt one… I’m sure that Raleigh would get along with a penguin ;)

Other than that I’ve just been practicing my lyrics. I even have the photo to prove it!

So it’s only been a week since I’ve posted but feels like much longer. I was so excited to talk about the new album last time that I forgot to talk about other things. About a week and a half ago we did Good Morning America. Thank you to everyone that was able to make it out and all of you watching from home. We were really happy that we got to perform one of the new songs for the show. That morning I also taped an interview with Erica Kane (well, it was really Susan Lucci from All My Children…). It was my first time on a soap opera and Ms. Lucci was so sweet.

We’re about 10 shows into the tour now and we’re all having a great time out here. In fact, we’re having so much fun that sometimes I forget my own lyrics! Now everyone makes me do homework on the bus! If only they would start doing some work!! ;)

I'm gonna be honest here... I've only listened to BFM about 3 times, 1000 Days and Just You once each, and I haven't even bothered to listen to Tears Run Dry... I'm a bad fan! :( I'm kidding... this internship has taken up a huge chunk of my time. Anyways, I love BFM! The other 2 are alright... I can't even think of how the songs go!

Sounds like you had blast at all your concerts! Be grateful you were able to see him that much! He had better come to MN for the Christmas tour... I'll even settle for an Iowa or Wisconsin date. Just closer than Indiana and Michigan.

Thanks for posting his blogs! He's so cute, LOL... are there pictures? He mentions 'here's proof that he's been practicing lyrics'... thanks again!

Kinda off-topic, but I've been bringing CDs with me to my law internship... a new one every day this week. He's buying all sorts of new CDs. It's getting funny. On Monday, the attorney was enjoying Never Gone and asked who's CD. I told him it was the new Backstreet CD. He was like 'I'll have to go get that CD!' He asked me to bring that CD with me tomorrow... so, Tuesday, I brought it back and I brought MOAM as well. He listened to Clay's... and again, he was like 'This is Clay Aiken huh? He's got a great voice... nice CD too. I'll have to buy this one as well!' So, now it's Wednesday... I brought Breakaway and again he loved it. LOL! So, I brought MCWL, a mixed Clay CD I made, and Maroon 5 for today. I currently am hearing 'Joy to the World'... it's amazing I don't have to say anything. Clay just sells himself. It's great!

Ooh! Nice pictures! You're lucky your pictures turned out... I have a whole roll of film from the MN State Fair concert last summer. A couple turned out, but most did not.

I'm tryin' not to get excited... but the dates that are being posted for JNT2 are looking promising! He's in Iowa on November 18... he's probably coming down from MN then!!!!

Wed Nov 2.....Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Vancouver BC
Thu Nov 3....Theater of the Clouds, Rose Garden, Portland OR
Sat Nov 5...... Silva Hall, Hult Center, Eugene OR
Fri Nov 18....Mid America Center, Council Bluffs IA
Sat Nov 19....Midland Theatre, Kansas City MO
Fri Nov 25.......Louisville Palace Theatre, Louisville KY
Wed Dec 14....Lyric Opera House, Baltimore MD
Sat Dec 17.....Atlanta Civic Center, Atlanta GA
Wed Dec 28....King Center, Melbourne FL
Fri Dec 30......Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater FL

I pray to God that I get to go. $ is still super tight... how much more expensive was the Christmas tour as opposed to the summer tour? I paid $22 for my ticket the last time around.
