I do not think capital punishment is justified in America or anywhere because it is murder. In some cases it is uncertain whether the person accused really did commit the crime and it is immoral to use capital punishment when there is the slightest chance that innocent people will have to suffer when in all actuality they did not commit the crime.

I do not think capital punishment is justified in America or anywhere because it is murder. In some cases it is uncertain whether the person accused really did commit the crime and it is immoral to use capital punishment when there is the slightest chance that innocent people will have to suffer when in all actuality they did not commit the crime.
In addition to that fact it is the basis of Christianity to respect all life and every person no matter what they did because of there humanity and the compassion we are meant to give them. Also, we are taught about how God forgives everyone and how we are supposed to be like God and give everyone a chance and not take their life because we do not have the right to do so. It is God’s decision when someone’s life begins, not ours.
In conclusion, I do not think it is right to exercise capital punishment because it does not solve anything. It just takes yet another person’s life and continues the circle of violence which worsens the social structures and makes it even harder to come to the Christian vision of a just world. It would be more humane to have criminals go to prison where they can at least try to reevaluate their life and try to turn it in the right direction instead of taking that opportunity away from them.
