I have been watching The Munsters a lot lately and last night I got to wonder of why this show was cancelled? Does anyone know why?

I may be wrong, but here are some of my assumption:
1) The Impact of Color Television. CBS decided to have all of its programming in color instead of black and white. That caused a problem between the network and the producers/creators of The Munsters because one wanted it done in color and the other in black and white. Therefore the show got cancelled due to the refusal of having the show done in color.

Could this be the reason?!

Well, for the most part, many shows are cancelled without any or little explanation. From a "reliable source", THE MUNSTERS was never a favorite among the execs at CBS. Like THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES or GREEN ACRES, THE MUNSTERS was a show CBS wanted to get rid of. They couldn't with HILLBILLIES or ACRES because these two shows were too profitable in 1966. THE MUNSTERS, while fairly popular, was slipping in the ratings by the spring of 1966. And, CBS was officially changing over all programming to color by that fall. The expense of producing the show in color was nearly triple the current production cost, and it was a venture CBS wanted no part of. Thus, MUNSTERS was cancelled.

It was very strange that the Munster was cancelled ... There was huge public demonstrations and what not when the public heard it was going to be cancelled.

It would have been really interesting to see The Munsters in color, Having watched the very originaly pilot which was in color ... that was quite weird!

Wow!!! What was the synopsis of the pilot? All the syndicates begin with "Munster Masquerade." Was it ever show after the first broadcast?
