I don't know what Esther Rolle and John Amos was talking about... because I didn't think JJ didn't ruin the aspect of the show at all! I think he just added a little comedic side to it and he didn't take over the show! It never felt like that! I just never understood about that!

J.J's Goofiness OVERSHADOWED the seriousness of the Show.

I loved Good Times. I only wish they gave all the cast members the spot light because they were all soo very talanted. JJ's lame comebacks became a little tiresome. Especially with that "DINOMITE!" Kool Aid skit. But I still loved the show and anticipated every episode.

Dynomite was only funny one time. When James found the Gun and J.J said. "I recognized that gun, It looks just like me, SLIM, BLACK and DYNOMITE-LOL That was the only time i laughed at the phrase.

Well if J.J was the show why did it fall lower and lower after John Amos left? Explain that one

Because John was a great straight man for J.J.'s comedy.

I don't think jj ruled the show either. The first season, I take it, was what John and Esther wanted and it was okay. On every sitcom there has to be an idiot and jj was the one. It gave the show flavor. But without Michael, Thelma, Willona and Mr. and Mrs. Evans, there wouldn't be a Good Times. After John and Esther left the show, it really did get quite boring.:D:wave:

I beleive that Eshter Rolle ruled the show during Good Times first couple of seasons and her character was the main focus. I agree that both Eshter Rolle and John Amos were very talented actors and that in a way their talent was over shadowed with Jimmie Walker's popularity
