View Full Version : What was The Best Season?
I absolutely love the Facts Of Life,as
I grew up on this show.At 30 Years
old I continue to enjoy it.I have to
say in looking at all of the seasons,
the 1985-1986 was probably the best
one.The show gained a very fresh new
look with Over Our Heads and the characters really blossomed.I found them to be funnier with a sharper, faster
quicker whit starting the 85-86 season.
In addition,the storylines were better.
The introduction of George Clooney and
Mackenzie Astin was also very refreshing.
The clothes, style and music of the show
was much hipper and fresher than previous
seasons.I have to say I think the last
two seasons with Beverly were a bit
disappointing and my least favorite. The show had lost alot
of its luster. The spinoff attempt with
Blair buying Eastland just didnt have
enough laughs, the show was not even picked up
by NBC.In any event, just my two cents,
let me know what were your favorite seasons
of the show.

for me, had to be any season between 2 and 6 (80-85). The show began losing it once Mackensie joined the show. Beverly Ann was the final straw IMO.

I agree, 2-6 were the best. Mackenzie and that other dude just ruined it!

The over our heads episodes were really bad. Beverly Ann annoyed me. She was such an air head. But I thought Andy was funny. - Especially the episode when he tries out for West Side Story and does that dance.

I agree with the part about the fresh new look for the show. If you can remember a lot of shows were getting a fresh new look. Different Strokes, Silver Spoons, The Love Boat, and others. 1985 was a year of change.

I think that season 2, when Jo comes on is the very best. 2-6 are the best. When the girls and Mrs. G open "OVER OUR HEADS" it gets pretty bad.

I enjoy Seasons 2-7 the most. IMO, Season 1 was laughably bad, even though I still like it.Seasons 8 & 9 were OK, but there was something missing. My guess is that that something is Edna Garrett. And whatever happened to Over Our Heads? It literally disappeared in the final season.

Finally someone who feels like I do. The first season was so bad. The story lines were good, but the character chemistry was not there. When Jo came on it turned the show around. The OVER OUR HEADS idea was so stupid, why would the writers do that?. When Mrs. G left it wasn't worth watching.

I think all the episodes were great. I'm only 12 yrs. old and I started watching some of TFOL on USA Network a couple yrs. ago. I kind of like the 80-85 theme of the TFOL. The 79-80 was okay, but It did not have a different melody to the 79-80 version. The 85-88 one was OK. It changed the tune! Oh Well!

I think the last three seasons could've been more bearable if they had kept them in Edna' Edibles. The set that was built was PERFECT for the girls and Mrs. G. They should have rebuilt the food shop instead of that stupid store (hamburger lamps?? - UGH)

if I had to get technical and choose only one season, it would be either 2 (1980-1981) or 3 (1981-1982). But 2-6 were all great. 1 and 9 had to be the worst seasons. 7 was when the show began to free-fall though, and it should've ended along with Charlotte's leaving.

I agree. I could never, and still can't, understand why the show went on when Mrs. G left. It just got so bad the last two seasons.

Well, it had to be a good reason why Charlotte left, and also a good reason why they picked Cloris Leachman to fill in :P

I LOVED season 1. I saw nothing wrong with it. It was good. I was never bored with that season. The first 4 seasons are my favorites. The last 2 did kind of fade. Although the show was still good to me.

I think it would have done the show much more good to have just ended the show when MRs. G left. It just would! It sucked after that! And thanks for agreeing with me JO, (What a surprise).

The only part in the first season I liked was in the theme song "THE BOYS YOU USED TO HATE YOU DATE I GUEES YOU BEST INVESTIGATE" That just has a cool ring to it I think. The Best Season Was Season 2 Jo made the show so much more interesting. On the first 2 episodes @ The Chug A Lug where so funny.Especially when Tootie poured the beer over the undercover cop's head.

I envy each and every one of you.
Ive only ever seen episodes from the season where Beverly Ann came into it.
So I think this season is the best as I cant judge the others.

season two was awesome...jo was a great addition to the show... the season when over our heads first came out was cute but as soon as edna left, she took the show with her..maybe a few good episodes here and there but nothing worth mentioning

Hard to say just one season as I think 1982-83 and 1983-84 were the "Golden Age". The best episode of the whole series comes from 1984-85 (The Last Drive In) though.
The worst is definitly 1979-80 as it just wasn't the same show, and the whole look and set design, etc was so drab and dreary (though this problem remained, lesser until 1982). Those original girls were lame. It's hard to believe only 3-4 years seperated the original 13 with the "Edna's Edibles" years. Damn, that was a beautiful shop and house. Over Our Heads had a cool look too.

I defintly think that Season's 2-6 were the best. I think MOSTLY everyone can say that the show started to get really bad with OVER OUR HEADS. (Its just my opinon so i hope no one gets offended) Season 1 was terrible, and the bets thing to happen was to get Jo and season 2-6 were really funny. And I am not saying that Season 7-9 were that bad, but I still don't know why the show went on without Mrs. G. Season 7-9 were also very funny but I have to say 2-6 were the best!

I have to say that i also did like season 1 it had good episodes and i thought it was more funny, at least mrs. garrett was, she was more loose and having fun, not so in your business!! But then if she would have stayed like that teh show wouldnt be much fun!! hehe... but my fav seasons were 2, 3, and 5 all the seasons 2-5 were GREAT!!! now that i ahve seen most of the 6th season i am begingin to not like the show as much!! liek in all the other show si was SOOOO anxious fo the show to come on my school days took forever and for it to become 9 took forever too!! but now that most of hte eps are becomming more boring i am not so excited, the feeling isnt there anymore... the only ep in the 6th season that i am LOVING TO PIECES is working it out... thats the only ep that i dont fastforward through boring parts!!! hehehe... i ahve to say that i like season 2, 3, and 5 best because 2 was great with jo added in... i loved it SOOO much!!! i love every ep except for the bryan and sylvia one...i watch my tapes with season 2 and 3 on it all the time and i coudl tell you every episode front and back from memmory!!! 3 had a lot of FUNNY things, the way jo watned to build a bomb, the way tootie came down drunk and acted funny, the way they acted when the baby was in their care, the way they try to get mrs. garrett to stay at eastland, the way tootie writes letters to herself, the way tootie gets the lead in the school play instead of nat, the way tootie rusnn away to new york, the way they show how blair and jo have changed, and you cannot forget this... THE PAINT FIGHT!!! I mean season 3 was Excellent!! and a lot of tough issues i loved season 5 to pieces!!! i loved every episode especially the next door and halloween eps!!! this was a nice change from being at eastland with mrs. garrett working there and then living with mrs. garrett!!! it showed real closeness and showed how much mrs. garrett meant to them... i do have to say that i have seen a few eps with beverly ann and i do not like it ONE BIT!!! it feels empty without her... they shoudl have ended the show with mrs. garrett leaving!! and if they thought that they MUST continue the show they should ahve done it with the girls on their own, i mean they were replyign on eachother instead of mrs. garrett now and they were running the shop fine without her towards the end!! i didnt liek how they went itno the over our heads, i didnt understand why they didnt rebuild the shop with them all being partners in it or seomthing, its nice to see them get so 80s and catch teenagers viewing but it didnt seem like mrs. garret at all, i dont see her beign so 80s, i see her with the ednas edibles, her beautiful shop, i really liked them all being there in the ednas edibles!! the 6th season seemed really off to me though... it feels like mrs garrett isnt even needed ont he show!! i mean she wasnt even in one little scene in the last 4 eps that aired on nan!!! so i understand why she left, but they shoudl have just ended the show when seh did leave... i ahve officially set that on monday novermber 20th (and the 21st) are official days of sadness... mrs. garrett leaves and beverly ann http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/mad.gif takes over!! i cant stand not ahving mrs. garrett there!!! ok i know i have totally annoyed you by my long letter so i'll go and post a new subject for my opinoin!!! bye

For ThomasE: Did the 1st season rock or what? The set was nicer, and the story lines were also better, I thought. In the later episodes they were getting strange, I did not like any episodes after Blair and Jo graduated. Are we 1st season fans just nuts, or what?

Can we just agree that any episode with Andy/and or Pippa was just horrid!!! Why do they take a good show, add a bunch of new people, and screw it up?? Remember "The Cosby Show", originally it was good, then they added Denise's husband, daughter, cousin Pam, etc!! Then it was terrible, in my opinion. You never saw them "re-tool The Andy Griffith show, did ya?? If it ain't broke..... http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
