Hi everybody!
Since some time last year, I have been reading all the ravings of people who have been fortunate enough to have met Yvonne Craig in person -- you know, all that stuff about how nice
and down-to-earth she is, mostly on her web site. Well, let me tell ya - they weren't kidding. Nor, were they exaggerating!
I just returned from a day at the Chiller Theater Expo in the New Jersey Meadowlands, where my sister and I met and spent a little time talking and hanging out with this beautiful, incredibly
sweet and delightful woman! She even posed for some pictures with us! I was kind of expecting her to *not* look like Barbara Gordon/Batgirl anymore. After all, it *has* been quite a while. But she still does! What a doll . . . inside and out!!

Congrats, Art! I'm glad you had the opportunity to meet Yvonne Craig, I'm sure she was down to earth, like you said she was. I think you were fortunate to sit down with her and actually speak to her, I'm sure you had a blast! :)

Impressions,
Thank you very much!
I don't know if it was the fact that Yvonne and I have exchanged words before via e-mail, or the fact my sister and I told her that we'd taken three (3) buses to get there . . . or my wheelchair . . . but for some reason she signed a really nice picture for me and then refused to take the $20.00 for it! That's the price she and the other guests were charging for autographed photos.

Jenny,
Thank you so much for the reply! A great day it was! You know -- simply meeting Yvonne would've made it a great day for me. But, there were also some other people there.
Among those we met and talked to were Liz Sheridan & Barney Martin (Helen & Morty Seinfeld), Bill Mumy ("Lost In Space"), Pamelyn Ferdin (the first Edna Unger on "The Odd Couple" and the voice of Lucy on at least two Charlie Brown specials), Angela Cartwright ("Make Room For Daddy"), Glenn Shadix (Otho in "Beetlejuice"), Larry Manetti ("Magnun, P.I.", "Baa Baa Blacksheep" and "Starsky And Hutch"), David Carradine ("Kung Fu"), Pamela Sue Martin ("Nancy Drew"), Soupy Sales, Carol Lynley and Stella Stevens. Almost all of them posed for pictures with me, and they were all pretty nice.

I thought that was very nice of Yvonne to give you that autographed picture of her, without paying the extra $20, I think she thought just wanted to give it to you as if it were a gift. Again, it was nice that you talked to Yvonne, I'm sure after all of this, you've became great friends.

Jenny,
Bill Mumy must be one of those Dick Clark-like people who just -- either naturally or unnaturally -- appear younger than they really are. I had a hard time believing it was him -- he looked nowhere near as old as he should be . . . to *me*, at least.
Thanks for the dance, by the way!

Impressions,
Thanks again. To have become "great friends" with Yvonne would surely be a dream come true.
============================================
By the way, folks, I forgot to mention that we also met a guy by the name of Marc McClure, who played Jimmy Olsen in the "Superman" movies, and Marty's brother Dave in the "Back To The Future" movies. He was one of the nicest people at the whole convention.

Art,
I agree with you about Bill. You know that new TZ that comes on UPN? They did a sequel to 'It's a Good Life' and it had Bill, Cloris, and Bill's daughter in the sequel. He really and truly didn't look his age to me either.

WoW Art I just saw Yvonne on the Big Valley. They had her on TV yesterday. She always did come across as a nice person. I also love Billy Mumy. You met some good people. Even Soupy Sales!

Pitooey,
We certainly did meet a lot of good people. Yvonne did do an amazing amount of guest appearances on TV shows throughout the 1960s. Several of the people we met have done a lot of different things. In fact, as I was shaking hands with Liz Sheridan (Jerry Seinfeld's TV mom), I was thinking that I had just seen her a couple of nights earlier on "Murder, She Wrote". But, for some reason, I didn't mention it. I *did* tell Bill Mumy that I'd liked a movie he was in back in the early 1970s called "Bless The Beasts And The Children." He seemed surprised and grateful that I remembered it.
None of those people we met are really major stars *today*, though. Who knows? -- maybe that has something to do with why they were all so nice.
