Noam Pitlik played him and I'm sure he was on another 1970's era show, but I can't for the life of me remember it. I'm wanting to say The Odd Couple, but again I'm not certain. I do know that the actor who played Smitty went on to star in 227 with Marla Gibbs in the mid 1980's for several seasons, he played her husband. I would like to know what happened to Melvin, Bubba, Grady, and Rollo. I would think Rollo (Nathaniel Taylor) would have been on something as he was fairly young and was a good actor in my opinion.

According to the IMDB Noam Pitlik was born in 1932 and died in 1999 of lung cancer. He played small roles in several tv shows in the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's. He also seemed to produce and direct several shows as well. My guess would be that he went behind the camera to do most of his tv work. It also said he did play a neighbor in one episode of The Odd Couple. I guess watching all of those old tv shows pays off sometimes.

Redd Foxx,LaWanda Page,Don Bexley,Whitman Mayo have passed away. I believe that Slappy White who played Melvin passed away as well.

Didn't Noam appear on My Favorite Martian for an episode or two? I think I remember seeing a guy that looked like him. Let me check. Yeah, he was.

Everyone ignored my post on Smitty, i thought it was Officer Smitty that everyone was talking about but it was Swanney
