I thought, IMO, this was a cool story to tell. :)

Well, for the first time, our school went to the Montgomery (AL) regionals for the 10th Annual Legacy Environmental Bowl. Our school is Hueytown High (west of Birmingham - in Jefferson County) and we all went on a van. We had Chick-Fil-A and Pizza Hut for lunch and dinner respectivly. Later, we had a study session.

Now, one interesting part is the other team members had a list of questions (they just didn't know which ones from that list would be asked) and I was 'recruited' later (mainly because I'm the school weatherman :)) I saw a medicore R-rated movie, the strangely-directed "Ali" and went to sleep about 11. We woke up the next morning (me, on time :) my roomates, late and later :)) and made it to the University of Auburn in Montgomery campus to compete. Amusingly, my roomates claimed they were going to find a girl (they called it "Pimpology 101") to hang out with that night, but nothing occured.

Our first match, at first, we were "frozen" (as our teacher/sponser said). I answered the first question for our team (Our teacher said, "I broke the ice." :)) We lost the first match 80-40. But, thankfully, it was a double elimination. After an hour in the Study/Break room (We were provided with chips and soft drinks), we came back for our second match. Our team answered a good number and we beat another team 70-60! We were back!

Next was a rematch against the first team. Now, on that other team (Thompson High) there was only one guy that answered questions. So, we had a stragtegy. Simply put, we "slaughtered" them 130-20. Me and my teammate Ashley (sadly, our only female teammate) answered the bulk of the questions. The victory in this match guaranteed us third place. Sadly, we lost our next match, by a hair. So, we got a plaque for third place (which shocked the officials and volunteers b/c our school had never been in the compeittion before).

In between the plaque present and our last match, we had lunch. Again, my roomates saught out attention from the opposite sex (they called it "Pimpology 102") but failed. :)

We then went shopping at a cool open-air mall. I bought a GameCube game and a couple of Star Trek books. yet another time, my teammates said they were going to get a phone number, but did not. (Thus, flunking what I pitched in as calling "Pimpology 103") We then returned home with pride. :)

As a side note, I was the only one that Ashley (our female teammate hugged) while all the other guys said they were going to "chase" girls. :)
