LITB truly has an obsession with hair.
One day we must count the numbers of hairstyles June has throughout the series.
Ward's hair is NEVER out of place the entire series.
Beaver's sheepdog look, haircuts, etc.
Wally's mustache, "jelly-roll" haircut, etc.
Am I missing some?

Yes, the infamous shaving episode, where Wally has to start shaving because he feels he is the only boy in his school who hasn't started shaving yet. So he starts, and cuts himself. Ward advises him to stop, because if he shaves too much, he'll have to shave everyday. Ward thinks this will get him to stop, but it only encourages him to continue!

What about the perm Eddie's baby-sitter gave him when he was five? Or when he was planning on becoming a sailor, and his mom worried that they might make him shave his head, because he worked so hard on his curls.

It seems that practically every episode, mainly the later seasons, has at least one scene showing Wally standing in front of his bedroom mirror combing his hair.
LOL. I had never noticed this before but it's so true! I remember seeing something that reminds me of this. I was watching the Legally Blonde DVD just this weekend and on special features there is a documentary with a title very fitting for this topic...
"The Hair That Ate Hollywood". But seriously, the show is obsessed with hair. I totally agree!

No kidding! Oh, did anyone else notice the other night on the Sheep Dog episode that it looks like they purposely made Beaver's hair look shaggy just for that show? His hair sure wasn't like that in other episodes. Normally, it's nicely combed. Ward's hair is always perfectly groomed and NEVER out of place! that gets annoying. Even when he wakes up it's perfect!

I've noticed that too!!! His hair only looked like that in the Sheep Dog episode. I guess they had to drive the story along, but still, definately inconsistant.
And speaking of Ward waking up...what's with the pj top tucked into his pants bottom? Have you guys noticed that? It was in at least one ep (maybe the one where Beaver's monkey was sick?). Talk about uncomfortable!!!! I wonder why it was like that. Did people really use to sleep with their pj tops tucked into their bottoms? I can't imagine they did, it just seems pointless.

I remember the episode where Wally's girlfriend, Julie Foster, "flipped" over a guy at school that had a mustache. I think his name was Greg (ory). Wally thought if he grew one during spring break, he would win back Julie's affection. It ended up that everyone made fun of Wally, because they thought he didn't look right with one.
In the end, Julie and Wally are back together....without the mustache.
Also, I can remember episodes where Ward's hair is messed up. Check out some of the scenes during the middle of the night, or real early in the morning. Examples are: ... when the boys are going to back out Ward's car from the garage right after Wally went to court for driving without a license, ... the night Larry Mondello spent the night and got sick from eating candy bars after the lights were out, ... the morning the boys catch a gopher in the yard, that turns out to be a big white bunny, ... the middle of the night when Ward has to climb the tree in back to get Beaver and the Donaldson's cat down, ... etc.
So I feel, Ward was one of those men that always made his appearance presentable when leaving his bedroom unless pulled out before his expected time. That ol' "Greasy Kid Stuff" sometimes does wonders. I can remember my grandpa never having his hair out of place in the morning. Never bothered me.

I didn't like him with a mustache either, but he looked better with one than that Wayne Gregory dude. But notice in my siggy, I added a funny line from that ep. That was so funny and it caught me off guard!

Regarding Wally combing his hair alot. I read that one of the writers sons did that and it was put into the show.

I must be haunted, or something. I don't have cable, because it seems when I write about an episode, it appears on TV within a few nights.
You know why I think Wally might not of looked right with that mustache??? I don't ever remember seeing him with any facial hair at all. He was always so clean shaven. Come to think of it, Ward really didn't show a 5 o'clock shadow either. But that's television.....
Since the show was on TV the other night, I guess the guy with the mustache was Wayne Gregory. That sounds right. I knew there was Gregory in it somehow.

I used to know a lot of teenage boys who were combing their hair all the time. It just makes sense that they have Wally doing that.
Yeah, I guess so. Hair was a big thing then. Guys used to put all that crap in their hair to make it look slick. Eew. They used that gel stuff, hair tonic, and all that crazy stuff.
