Some big news, TV Land is working on renewing the show. It's current deal expires May 25, and it is on hiatus right now from the regular line-up since March 31, if all goes well The Munsters will be back as early as this June! I'll keep you guys updated on this. TV Land is airing an episode in a Box Set on April 27, check the General Sitcoms April TV Land post. TV Land will be premiering about 5 new shows for the rest of 2003 (Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie in June; A secret drama which I can't reveal yet in July; a secret western which I can't reveal yet and Mr. Ed this September.). No questions please on the parenthesis part, just The Munsters part please :)

Yes, this is great news to hear! I think it's a wise choice of TV Land for trying to renew one of greatest shows of all-time, The Munsters. I absolutely love and adore this show among many, many, many, and MANY other viewers do. While there at it, they should also re-acquire The Addams Family because like The Munsters, it is sorely missed if not more.

They should get the Addams family back on tvland and the munsters.

Addams Family is not coming to TV Land anytime soon (meaning 2003 or 2004).

WOW, I can't believe they are actually considering remaking The Munsters, it sure sounds like it will be an interesting production. Do you have any further information about the remake of The Munsters, and how or will it be any different from the original? I glad that there is chance that The Munsters might return possibly in June. If TV Land won't pick-up The Addams Family, I'm sure some other network would be willing to air it.

I figured when I heard they working to renew the show, I thought it meant that they working to remake the show, but rather to bring back the show. I apologize, I misunderstood.

Yes, TV Land made the right choice of deciding to air The Munsters again. I seriously hope their rights to the show will last at least for three years, even though it should be more. Also, I am glad to hear it will be given a good timeslot. I hope the rights to the show would also include repeats. Last time, there wasn't any repeats.

Yeah. I agree about that. I like it when networks repeat a show the following day, or in another timeslot, it gives viewers a chance to catch it a second time. I missed several episodes of the Munsters last time and would've liked a "second chance" the next day to catch it.
The only shows that seem to air numerous times are double take and primetime. I'd wish they'd add a second airing of Mary Tyler Moore and Get Smart. I'm taping MTM every day and thankfully they haven't skipped an ep, and I haven't missed one. Get Smart is a show I'd like to tape, but I'm just unable to do it at 8am.

This is great. I am so glad TV Land decided to bring back The Munsters as well as giving it a second airing (unlike before). Thanks, TV Land!

I can't wait to see The Munsters back on TV Land on June 2nd!!
After TV Land was originally going to lose the rights in May, I thought it was going to be gone for good.
I am thrilled to see that 2 episodes will be airing a day, and then we get to see the new TVography episode on the Munsters on A&E!

Actually, TV Land will air one episode a day. The other airing will just be a repeat.

According to TV Land 2 differnt episodes will air a day, so, for the first week, the first 10 episodes will have aired.

I noticed that too about a week ago. I wonder why they airing it like that. There is only 70 episodes which would mean the first cycle will done less than in one and half months. I think TV Land should use the repeat format instead of running the episodes non-stop with no repeats inbetween. It would make better sense that way.

I agree completely. I had hoped that's what they would be doing (air one episode a day and repeat the next morning).
They are doing the same for I Dream of Jeannie. Bewitched is a little different in schedule.

Not that I don't like this show or anything, in fact I really like it, but does this really do anything for TV Land? I mean, they seemed to air it quite alot and now it's coming back for even more airings...is it a big ratings-getter or something? Just doesn't seem like it would have this long of a life on TV Land...

You make a good point, for a series with only 70 episodes ... it has had an unbeleivablly long life on TV Land!
With them planning on airing two different episodes a day, it should be interesting to see how long it takes to be bumped to one airing a day.

I have a feeling once Mr. Ed comes around August/September we'll see a dropping to one episode a day, but I'd gladly take it since Mr. Ed is coming back. It's just a given at least one show will be leaving in September, or losing a few timeslots. I could see Mr. Ed replacing Gilligan in Twice as Nice, and probably Superman's airing, and probably a Munsters airing. Let's see if that comes true, lol.
Anyway... I digress... sorry.
I'm glad it's on twice a day anyway, enjoy it while you can.

Good Point!
Though I do have my personal favorites shows, I would much rather have the same show on fewer times each day for a wider variety.
It will be interesting to see if Mr. Ed does get a spot in Twice as Nice ... I am surprised that Gilligan's Island has a slot there, but it must be far more popular then I think it is.

Well, I'm pretty sure Gilligan just won't be lasting much longer in Twice as Nice, maybe. It only has, what, 98 episodes?
I agree though, about the same show on fewer times a day, at least two times a day and that's it.
I just say Mr. Ed might get a Twice as Nice spot because so far, all new shows have gotten a spot there, along with (usually) primetime and an extra airing either morning or late-night.

I think 4 episodes a day of Bewitched and 4 episodes of IDOJ is totally overkill.

I agree, 4 episodes of Bewitched and IDOJ is definitely overkill. They should've been given Twice as Nice, and maybe a primetime slot, leaving 3, which isn't too bad.

That would have been nice ... I am bummed out that Brady Bunch is now on at only 3:30AM during the week!
Bump...
I totally agree with the Bewitched & Jeannie airings...WAY too much...if they were to run a show that much it should be Lucy or something, not I Dream of Jeannie, which is admitedly one of my least favorite shows...I also agree that they should air a wider variety less often, instead of the same group several times a day. Same with N@N...anyway, just wanted to comment...:)
