View Full Version : Writing Icky Stuff... lol

Okay, I've been working on my Return of Duke story a lot lately. We've had second block study for the past 3 days b/c our music teacher is M.I.A. (They prob know where he is, but we're clueless).

ANYway, I've been writing during those study periods and I'm having a bit of difficulty. Partly b/c people don't shut up during a study hall and partly b/c of what I had to write.

'iDOhavealife' was talking about the weirdness of writing a Ginger vamp scene. Well, writing a Duke "Hi-I'm-a-surfer-and-I'm-gonna-hit-on-you-now" scene is just as hard, if not harder. I'm so creeped out right now and I just felt the need to tell you. LOL.

The point of this post is: I need suggestions for connector scenes. When we last left the story, MA had inadvertantly led Duke to believe that Gilly was her boyfriend so he'd leave her alone. Gilly knows about this and has agreed to go alone with it, although he was a tad freaked out. NOW, what I need from you people, are random little scenes of them pretending to be "an item" to come in between what I've written and the scene that I'm currently writing that's creeping me out. I'm sure you can come up with a few cute little things. One idea I had was something with them at dinner. **shrug**

Pleeeeease let me know if anything just magically happens to come to you.

I could have preferred to not fill you in on the plot b/c I enjoy surprise...but I need suggestions. Plus, when I'm excited I feel the need to share... hehe.

Thanks....

*sigh* nothing's come to me. i didn't get any good dreams last night either. stupid dream fairy. *grumble*

oh hey...while we're thinking of connecting scenes for stories....if anyone has any idea how to get ginger and proffy from a state of seriousness to play fighting and romping through the jungle....let me know. my original connection idea was so stupid...it's been trashed. lol.

I already gave you my suggestion for the Proffy/Ginger thing, Julie.... lol.

Bah, I wrote almost the whole icky Duke scene. Skippy let him have it - it was a beautiful moment... *sniff* LOL. But now I gotta reorganize the rest of the story b/c that scene got more intense that I had planned originally. O wells...

OK, guys--I've looked at both your journals, and if you don't let me read your "mini-scandal" stories, I'm gonna cry!
:crying:

Then I'll scream!
:livid:

Then I won't write any more fanfics, nana nana naa naa!
:D

So there! LOL!

JWood201

LOLOL!

Well, the "Second Ginger Grant" mini-scandal is, like, so mini it's not even worth it. It was 2 am and we were insane, so....it's not good.

The "Matchmaker" mini-scandal isn't so mini any more. LOL. It's Julie's turn right now and then I get to do some more... It's getting all long and involved and might actually turn into a short fan fic. It takes place in that time period between when MA & Gilly are drinking multiple toasts in the Howell Hut and the next scene - which is the next afternoon! Something needed to be added in there. So we did it. Hee.

We were actually discussing posting the Matchmaker mini-scandal here. It's not *that* bad. Hehehe.

Ooo, that sounds interesting, LOL. I'm getting as bad as you guys.

I hope you didn't think I was prying--I'm just nosy by nature, LOL.

JWood201

LOL. I don't think anyone is as bad as we are. Hehehe.

Nah, that's okay. I'm nosy too. Besides, we wouldn't post links if we didn't want anyone to go there...

LOL!!! no indeed...the mini scandal is definitely not so mini anymore. i'm even writing in some proffy/ginger stuff....but not a whole lot. lol. just for comedy purposes mostly. hee hee!!!

BTW, how's that comin'? Hehehe. Actually, it's a good thing you didn't finish and let me read your section tonite. I woulda gotten distracted and not have done my Theatre homework (questions on "Gypsy" - quality show!!). LOL.

I wanna see how you solved your Proffy Quandary. :D

LOL! it's done in my head.....and most of it is written down, i just gotta put it together. i'll be done by tonight, don't worry. i wrote some last night and some today in study hall....so there are peices of it in different notebooks. i'm typing it right now....so....lol. it's rather long for just one part....but you wrote two parts in a row so that makes up for it. or something like that. lol

JWood201
02-25-2003, 07:46 PM
Hehehe. Proffy was so shady in your part. Classic.

Do you people still want it posted here? **apprehensive** 'Cause, well, I like to describe...stuff. LOL. It amuses me. And, well, if you wanna read about...stuff, just say the word and we'll post it. LOL. (Nah, it's not that bad.)

**cracks her knuckles (no, I can't really do this. lol) and begins to work on her next lil section. work = staring blankly at screen**

Warning! This is an offtopic: post!

Courtney, I just read your LiveJournal. You don't care for My Fair Lady! I LOVE that movie! But I just had to comment on an observation of yours. You are so right about Rex Harrison--he doesn't sing--he speaks with rhythm, LOL. I thought I was the only one who ever noticed that, LOL. I would love to try out for a musical (there is a small theatre group near my house), and Eliza Doolittle and Maria from The Sound of Music would be my dream roles. There are only 2 problems: I *can't* sing (no joke) and now I'm too old for those parts. Sigh.

OK, back on topic: I'm glad you guys are going to post your fic here--I can't wait, LOL.

JWood201

**hangs head in shame** I'm sorry. LOL. My dream role? Eulalie Mackechnie Shinn from "The Music Man." **grins**

ANYway, to prevent Off Topicness in the future, you can comment in my LJ at the bottom where it says "post a comment." It sends me an e-mail. It's fun. And it makes me feel loved! Whee!

Aww, try out anyway! There are plenty of great roles in musicals that don't necessarily have to sing (Eulalie for example)... Go for it. Hey, the Chorus is the most important part of a musical anyway. I'd know, I've been in it enough. LOL.

Um, yeah, for the sake of being slightly on-topic: Mini-Scandal is coming along and it's my turn. Skippy gets to be funny and Gilly makes the most profound comments when "intoxicated." LOL. Good times.

Yeah, I thought about commenting to your LiveJournal, but I'm not signed up with them, and I hated to send you an anonymous comment, LOL. I may try out, one of these days. I'm so busy with the kids' many activities. I love The Music Man. We didn't see the one with Matthew Broderick. My husband loves the Music Man, too, and he flipped to the channel it was on last week. He stopped for a few minutes--we waited long enough to see who played Buddy Hackett's part, then he went on. I'm sorry--we're at that age that, when we see Matthew Broderick, all we can see is Ferris Bueller. We had been out of high school about 1 or 2 years when that movie came out, and we love it, LOL.

OK--back on topic. I've been thinking about the diary fic, and I have some ideas. Hopefully I'll start writing in a few days. We'll see.

Naw, it's cool. No one who comments in my LJ is signed up with them. LOL. All I get are anonymous comments.

Yeah, I'm not gonna have the Music Man discussion again - too many times. LOL. But I liked most of the old one better, except for Kristin Chenoweth - loved her as Marian.

ANYway... YAY! Diary fic! I'm so excited for that - I can't wait!

I thought when you said "icky stuff" you meant slash or something.

But I ain't EVEN going there, just seeing these pairings... I'm gouging out my mind's eye now.
