When did you think that Good Times should have pulled the plug?? My opinion is the 1976-1977 season, that was when Florida and all the kids and Willona were there, and a few episodes dealt with James' death and her feelings about it. After that, the last 2 seasons when Esther left the show and then came back and Willona adopted Penny and Thelma marrying Keith, the show became less funny and more serious in nature. And also,Good Times's last 2 years was up against very serious competition with Eight Is Enough on Wednesday in the 1977-1978 season and the last part of the last season, and the first part of the last season when it was up against CHIPS.

Comments, please!!!

I agree, after one season without James, the show was done. No Florida and no James is not good and by the 6th season, the show was too far gone. So, I feel that the 1976-1977 should have been the last, even though the last seasons did have a few good episodes.

I'm with you guys. Once Esther Rolle left, the show lost a lot of its original meaning.
