Marilyn's family background

As a huge "Munsters" fan from Australia one thing always mystified me a bit in that Marilyn was always said to be Lily's niece . If that was the case then how come her full name was Marilyn Munster? She should have had a different surname coming from the female branch of the family.

Not, I suppose, if Herman and Lily had adopted her, and especially if at such an age that she continued to call them 'Aunt' and 'Uncle' because she was already too mature to suddenly start calling them Mom and Dad.

OR, maybe the Munster family and the Dracula family were so particular that they only skipped a generation or 2 to intermarry again, so that maybe Grandpa and Lily had relatives of the Munster family before Lily married Herman.

Come on, let's put logic in its proper place with this show to figure these things out :lol: .

Simple. They adopted Marilyn when she was only 2 or 3 and long since changed her last name since legally adopting her.
