I have just learned that the Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour is coming to DVD in April. It will be a 3 DVD set of the very best of the show. It'll only be sold through mail order and an informercial similar to the Johnny Carson Collection they're selling on TV

I also saw an infomercial this weekend for Rowan & Martin's Laugh In on DVD. A best of set too.

Was it DVD? Because the website says VHS (and it's out of stock :( )

Yeah, it said DVD. I can take screecaptures, so if I happen to see it again, I'll try and get a few. Or at least some information to call, etc. I wasn't able to watch much of it, but enough to know it was R&M.

UGH!! I ordered the VHS off the website thinking that was all it was available in, and soon after I got an e-mail saying that they were out of stock. I'll have to figure out how to cancel it and re-order it on DVD.

Back in February, we posted a news item (http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=298) about DVDs from the Sonny & Cher TV series. Now we are six weeks past the April 14th target date mentioned in that news, so we asked Respond2 Entertainment for an update.

We were told that they are now looking at an August or September timeframe for release, but no specifics were mentioned describing what the delay was. It was said that this 3-disc set is to be called the "Ultimate Collection", and that they are still planning to sell it via infomercials that would start up in the late summer, after the set is done. However, they hope to have a normal retail release around the first part of next year.

They are planning to redesign the website at SonnyAndCher.com (http://www.sonnyandcher.com/) (currently run by Paul Brownstein Productions' TVClasics.com for VHS sales of the show) in order to support the DVD release. Keep an eye on that web address starting in late August.
