I def. remember seeing this question on another Batman board I visit. Let me get that link for you.

http://www.workshirtsales.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl/YaBB.pl?board=events&action=display&num=1034043268

If you look at the link I just posted above, note this post in that link:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i got some mail back from tvland when i asked them about the 2 episodes always being skipped:

"The answer to your question is actually quite complicated. When we purchase the rights to shows...some episodes have a set number of times we are allowed to air them within our total contract time. Others have a set number of times we can run them within a shorter period of time (ie: week or month). Sometimes, in order to be able to play holiday episodes at the appropriate time we hold an episode back. Other times we hold an episode back, so that we can put together a block of related shows in a special.

A further wrinkle is when we get an episode that has not "passed muster" from a technical standpoint. Occasionally it does happen that the audio or video are compromised in some way which would prevent us from airing the episode. In these cases it takes time for our technicians to make necessary repairs. We then drop the repaired episodes into the proper place in rotation as soon as is possible.

The third and final possibility is that an episode is not released by the distributor. This is rare, but it does occasionally happen, and we have no control over it.

We still list all of the episodes on our web site so that viewers have the information about the shows they love.

I do hope that this lengthy, but thorough, explanation helps you to understand that we are trying to bring you the best TV possible.

Now I think they have aired those 3 parters before, so you can rule out the episodes not being released by the distrubutor.
However, you could add something else to the option list. Maybe they are saving the 3 parters for some sort of special marathon.

Unfortunately, my guess is the first option. Maybe the three parters could only be aired so many times. I do want you to keep a look out for it. Don't let my post discourage you. I know just as much as I'm sitting here what will happen. If I say that they prob. won't show those three parters, you might give up getting those episodes off TVL and they'll pop up when you aren't looking for them.

That's pretty much it, Jenny. You said it the best.

TVL has aired all 120 episodes of Batman, from what I remember, I usually check the schedule everytime I'm at TVLand.com and from what I could tell, this was the first instant in which they skipped the episodes.

Look at Leave it to Beaver, Season 5 is skipping over half of the episodes. I think TVL holds off on some episodes for these reasons:

1) Just to skip them (lol; had to add that)
2) They are planning, or thinking of a special/box set that may include a certain episode; just to play it safe, they take it out of the rotation
3) For some reason, they just aren't allowed to play that episode.

I hope those reasons help. It's all very confusing, and stupid, lol. I hate when shows skip episodes. I'll take Nick @ Nite as another example. I was checking their schedule (i'm taping Three's Company now) and All in the Family is skipping like every two episodes or so, Cosby Show is skipping even more each night. I think it's just so they can save on the amount of times they play an episode, which is why I think so many shows on TVL are only once a day. If you notice, Mary Tyler Moore has aired pretty much every episode in order from #24 (I don't remember the order they aired on TVL from Season one) and that airs once a day. For Bob Newhart, that starts at number one again in a few weeks, but they are skipping #1. They aired it when they brought it back in October, but they're probably skipping it so it can be included in the First Things First marathon in 2004. I don't know. It's stupid. I'll try to think of more examples, or something more to type later.

Oh, and Sanford and Son, which is brand new to TVL, is airing every episode in order. Why? Because it's the first rotation. Look at the second run, no doubt episodes will be skipped then.

Well, it doesn't look like they are going to air right now, so maybe
next rotation I will get a chance to see them both.

I'm crossing my fingers for you and everybody else that wants to catch the 3 parters.

Just a little word of warning, though. If they do show the 3 parters, my advice is to record it immediately. I've seriously screwed up on some shows by thinking I could catch certain episodes during the next rotation and they never show the eps again. I'm not saying Batman might be gone soon, I'm just saying to get it while you can.

A lot of times though, the two parters or three parters air out of order of the regular rotation. I have no idea why, for twice as nice, it's nice to see the two parters back to back, which is sometimes what they do and have to air them out of order. But sometimes they just skip for no reason.

Now, on a similar note, TV Land is skipping the 3 parter of Sanford and Son, "The Hawaiian Connection." They could be airing out of order, or in a box set, but I see no real reason for skipping them. They also just recently skipped #88 "The Oddfather" of Sanford and Son.

Why oh why can't a network air a show in order from #1 to the finish? lol.
