Since it's 4 few years (1986-87, 87-88, 88-89, 89-90) were coming to an end, there were new situation comedies coming/already on such as FAMILY MATTERS, STEP BY STEP, WONDER YEARS, DOOGIE HOWZER, DINOSAURS, EMPTY NEST, etc. The people must've been looking forward to the new shows 'eh

I think Alf, simply ran its course. That's why it was cancelled.

I agree. ALF's plots and characters went as far as they could.

I agree. As much as I love this show, I definitely think the last season is pretty bad. They all just seemed to be getting tired of the show, and the addition of Neal only made that worse. I can't stand him! The guy's a bad actor, and he played a ridiculous character - no worse combo than that. I think the first seasons of ALF are golden, but by 89-90 it was rapidly going down the tube...

On the contrary, the show was cancelled because the actor who played ALF was a convicted pedophile.

...you have any proof of this, or are you just trolling?

BTW - there were two different actors that "played" ALF, are you accusing BOTH of them?

I have to agree, that Alf had run its course. Four years was all they could manage.

Never cared for Project ALF.I watched it the night it aired with my family. We was glade that ALF was returning because we did not like how the series ended. I just did not think the movie was as good or funny as the TV series. My biggest complaint about the movie was that they did not bring back The Tanners. There was so many episodes from the series that was better. It seems like everytime they bring back a TV series as a movie it sucks.Look at those awful Incredible Hulk TV movies that they did in the late 80's.

The show was getting tired and the sci-fi sitcoms on of the 80's were on their way out. I knew ALF was in trouble after Small Wonder was cancelled. Looking back at these shows today, the storylines were bland and graphics were cheesy but they kept one's attention.

Project ALF sucked ass big time. While grateful to see some resolution for ALF, the Tanners needed to be there also. I know the guy who played the father probably wouldn't have been there since he was celebrating the cancellation back in the day. I always thought the perfect block would have been ALF and Small Wonder back to back. What do you think?

Jessica

No, Procject: ALF is not as good as the TV-series though. I thought the Tanners should starring in it too.

But why would Max Wright feel that strongly against it? Oh well, maybe he just was tired of it.

I remember reading in various articles that Max Wright got tired of the long rehearsals and production work it took into filming the show. I would also assume that he was probably ready to move on to other roles to keep from being typecasted as Mr. Tanner from ALF.

I read that too. I thought I read somewhere that Max's wife was giving him a hard time about his long working hrs?

ALF has done a sitcom, a cartoon series, a TV-movie and a talk show. What's
left? An ALF reality show? (Say, that might be a good premise at that: ALF
meets Mr. Average Citizen. )

I knew how ecstatic he was to get in his car and drive off once they finished filming the series finale episode.

Strange thing was how he ended up getting arrested for drunk driving a few years after the show ended.

I watched it three and a half years ago, but this is what happened, as far as I remember. It was in one of the first (and best) seasons of "Blossom". A geek asked Blossom to go with him to a dance, but Joey and Six told her that she shouldn't go with him, because that would make her unpopular too. Then she had a dream, where she went to Heaven and Alf was like Saint Peter. And among other things, Alf told her "What did you think happened to me? Syndication?" and "You've broken the commandment "You shall not geek." "

OK so it was a Dream Sequence type of episode, makes a little more sense

Dream Sequence eps are the Worst eps you can ever lay your eyes on-lol

Furienna
02-29-2008, 07:39 PM
Well, the entire episode wasn't a dream though. If an entire episode is a dream, like two infamous episodes of "The Cosby show" are, then it sucks. But an ocassional dream sequence during an episode is okay by me.

megamanj2004
03-01-2008, 12:07 PM
Or in the case of "Dallas," the dream ep. from the 1985-86 TV season was what caused not only "Dallas" to slump in the ratings, but CBS as a whole.

Furienna
03-01-2008, 12:56 PM
Yeah, that sucked. It wasn't supposed to be a dream season in the beginning though. But when Larry Hagman (J.R.) threatned to leave if a certain producer didn't leave, they (of course) decided to keep Larry, and they brought Patrick Duffy (Bobby) back at the same time. So to suddenly have Bobby back on the show, even though he had died, they came up with the dream idea. I think "Dallas" was one of those shows, that obviously went on way too long, so it lost a lot of its quality, since they simply ran out of good plot ideas. I think they should have stopped the show long before the dream, or at least right after Pam had woken up and seen Bobby in the shower.

This is a bit offtopic: but during my recent trip to Turkey, my friends Fatih and Murat told me that when they were in elementary school, their English instructor would let them watch episodes of Alf during class. She would put the closed captioning feature on, which allowed the students to see the English subtitles. They both said they learned a great deal of their English by watching old episodes of Alf... sorry to get OT, but I thought this was a funny little story!

Well, everybody can't get those DVDs. They're not sold everywhere. Not to mention that they only contain the syndicated versions of the show.
