Mom or stepmom on Greetings From Tucson ??

I swear I heard somewhere that Elizabeth was supposed to be the kids stepmother...but they always call her "Mom" and there have been no stepmother references at all. Plus she hardly looks old enough to have an eighteen year old daughter. Anyone know the truth??? :confused:

No I believe she's their actual mother...in one ep the subject came up of how Maria and David are only half Mexican because Elizabeth is Irish.
