What type of females were L&S supposed to be on Happy Days?

I watched a couple of Happy Days episodes featuring L&S before they started their own show. I remember a episode when Fonzie needed a date and he looked in the phone book and called L&S-LOL. Plus Fonzie did the same thing When he was trying to find Mork a date-he called Laverne. So does anyone know why the Laverne character was called when Fonzie needed a date?

Hmm.. yea. Before they had their own show and were on HD.. they were kinda.. "slutty" especially Shirley! I mean, compare her on HD to L&S!!! LOl. She went from Roxy to Chaste!!
