My dad golfed in a pro/am with Lem barney, who used to play for the Lions, so I got to meet him this summer.
And when I was at Disney World when I was 10, Whoopi Goldberg was there and she was walking around with all these bodyguards circling here and my dad just walked through them because we didn't realize it was her and that those guys were body guards (even though they were all dressed in suits) and they just kept walking and didn't say anything. Some bodyguards, huh?

Thats to bad you couldn't get an autograph from Adam,he will be missed by many. I was planning to go see Dale Earnhardt in Kansas City, but now I don't get the chance to. Kyle is one of the nicest people you could ever meet so are the other drivers to. My family contributed alot of money to the victory junction gang camp it is for a wanderful cause. The coolest 'celebrity encounter' story I have is about the time when I e-mailed Sue Perkins (one half of cool British comedy duo Mel & Sue) at her radio show. She read my entire e-mail out live on air and was so impressed with my good self that she invited me to become her new comedy partner.

I met ex-Steeler's kicker Gary Anderson, ex-Steeler Merill Hodge, and the Blue Meanie, who wrestled in the WWF shortly.
When I think of "met" I figure it to mean eye contact. A 'hello, how are you doing"? Something more than having happened to have been in the same town or room as the "met" person. My daughter works as a hostess at a restaraunt in Hollywood. She's "met" lots and lots of celebrities in the 'spoken to for a minute' category. She also knows a screen writer. His wife is my daughter's friend. My daughter lived with them for a couple of years. She's been to some of the premiers of the movies he's written so she has "met" at least at the shaking hands level actors and actresses at those, including Ben Stiller. She bothered to tell me about meeting him. I myself have met in the shaking hands and having a few words level lots of baseball players. On a more personal level, I met and spent time with Dana Plato.

When I was a kid I met Larry Storch from F-Troop at some hotel in the poconos.
I met Harry Connick Jr. in 1990 (or '89) doing a show called the Jazz Vespers at a church in NYC. I was doing lights with my friend whose brother owns a lighting company. We had a little meeting a couple hours before the show (which was a tribute to someone, I forget). I didn't know anything about him at the time other than he did the When Harry Met Sally soundtrack.
He broke out right after that.
I know Phil Rizzuto from the Yankees.
I sat next to Marion Ross on a flight from LA to Newark in 1992 and Tom Bosley was there also (though they didnt know each other was there for the first hour) - that was a weird story.

Since I live in Houston and dont leave it's area much, I've met the following people, some national celebrities, some just local celebrities.
Rowdy Yates-Local
Hilton Koche-Local
Lisa Whelchel-Seen her at a bookstore advertising her book called the real facts of life-National
Leann Rhymes-in 1994 before people even knew who she was, and yes I rode in the same exact school bus she rode on in Garland, Texas cause garland ISD then had a severe bus shortage, so high schoolers, middle schoolers, and elementary schoolers had at times had to share the same busses---National
Mindy Cohn-accidentally bumped into her at the time when she was struggling so bad in the business---somewhat national
Arnold Scwartzennegger, Sylvester Stallone, and Tom Cruse, all of them going into Planet Hollywood in the Houston Galleria---All National
Richard Dreyfuss - he came to speak at my university. I shook his hand but he wouldn't give me his autograph. whatever.
Eric Idle (of Monty Python) was giving a concert in Detroit, and we won free tickets from the radio. I almost fainted, cuz I just love this guy - and he was so nice. Got his autograph!
Karenna Gore (Al's daughter) and Rebekah Lieberman came to campaign for Gore two years ago. My friend fainted, I went backstage to check on her and the two girls came back to say hi, and make sure she was ok. They were both really sweet.
Jodi Benson (voice of Ariel in The Little Mermaid) I love her! She came to a small town to promote the Little Mermaid and she is the sweetest person in the world!
Sheri Louis and Lambchop - sadly, no longer with us, I met Sheri when I was about five, and I don't remember much, but I did like lambchop. My mom got her autograph for me.

K, these aren't super famous folks i dont think, but anyway ...
When I was little , Montel Williams gave a motivational speech at my school. It rocked.
When I was in 5th grade, i went to school with Ryan White, whose younger sister was in my class.
thats all i can think of, i really havent met many folks.
Well, I seen Jimmy Kimmel last month on a plane. A couple of years ago I seen that host of Nick Arcade on a plane to Florida...what's his name? Phil Moore? Oh, and I've seen Michael Keaton, Florence Henderson, and a few other lower profile celebrities in a restaurant called "Nichols" in Marina Del Ray, Ca.!
but, Have I ever met and talked to a celebrity face to face? No

Ok here is my list:
George W. Bush when he came into my city when he was campaigning. He came on a train and the train depot is two blocks from my house. I wasn't voting for him, but I went to see him.
Cheech Marin (Cheech and Chong fame)...he came into my workplace waaaaay back in the days. He was there with his wife. I chatted with him and I got his autograph.
At the same workplace I met Richard Van Fleet, he played Chuck Tyler on All My Children. He has a beach home in my city. I also received his autograph and chatted with him.
Again, at the same workplace, I met Whoopi Goldberg. She was in a hurry, so I didn't get to get her autograph, but I did get to tell her "hi".
Ok, at the same workplace (this is getting redundent) I met the actor that played Billy Jack in the Billy Jack movies from the 70's. I got his autograph.
And one more time, at this workplace, I met the man who played Doc Baker from Little House on the Prairie. He had a beach home here before moving up north to Oregon.
I met Tito Jackson (Michael Jackson's brother) and his wife at this other workplace of mine. I actually didn't talk to him like "Wow, I know you." It was purely business. At this same place I met and talked with rapper Xzibit, the guy who hosts PIMP MY RIDE on MTV. He is a very very down to earth and very nice guy.
George Lopez. I met him before he went on stage to perform his comedy routine, however, this was waaaay back in the days before he became the huge star he is now.
I met an actor who appeared on GOOD TIMES. He played the family relative who lost his job and James and Florida were going to borrow money from him. His name is Percy Rodrigues. I met him and his wife in Malibu at this famous seafood place where everyone loves to eat at. He was shocked that I recognized him from Good Times. He seemed genuinely sweet and was very cordial. His wife was very nice too.
At the law firm I worked at before I went solo, I worked on the divorce case of Olivia Newton John and her husband. WE REPRESENTED HER HUSBAND, which sucked big time because I am a fan of hers!!!!! I had to speak and deal with her soon to be ex-husband which annoyed me so much because I couldn't stand him, I hated what he did to Olivia and he was such a moron. Very picky man.
Three months ago my boyfriend met Barbra Streisand at his work. He said she was very very nice, very pleasant and didn't want to bug him. He spent over a half hour talking with her (business talk) but he also told her how I was a huge fan of hers and he got an autograph for me.
He also met at this same job, Maureen McCormick, Marcia Brady. He said she was also very nice. DAMN HIM, HE WAS TOOOOO BUSY TO GET ME AN AUTOGRAPH!!!!!!!!

My uncle knows a lot of celebrities, which is how I met a lot of them. He took me to a Step by Step taping in October/November 1992. I believe it was season 1 or 2. I was 10 at the time. We're in the back, and I asked Patrick Duffy and Sasha Mitchell to sign a cast photo I had. They gladly did it. Both were very nice guys.
As far as Suzanne, I saw her and asked her to sign my photo. She made fun of my flat-top haircut that was popular in the late 80s/early 90s. So, the photographer, who my uncle knew and that's how we got backstage, told Suzanne how it was very low to make fun of a 10 year old. She was very shocked to hear I was 10, especially since I was already 5'10" at that point. Luckily, I never saw her again.

I think I've said on other threads like this that I've met Valerie Harper (Rhoda on The Mary Tyler Moore Show several times. She's so sweet. I've even hugged her. :) I went to a record signing of Jessica Simpson's Irresistible CD, too, and got to talk to her for like 30 seconds, lol. But Valerie will always be tops on my list just b/c she was so gracious.

Graciousness does count for a lot :)
When I met Christain Vandevelde, Floyd Landis, and Dave Zabriskie, Christain was actually at the bottom of my list of the three initially in terms of excited to meet (just 'cause he hasn't had a TON of success, so I didnt know much about him other than he'd ridden in the tour)
Well, they all talked or whatever, and after their presentation, we got to go meet them and all. Christain turned out to be the sweetest of them all. He was impressed that I came 6 hours to meet him (even though he had flown from Belgium to Chicago for the event lol) and talked for several minutes....offered to take a pic with me...gave me a hug. He was just like a normal guy.
Floyd (this was about a week after the doping "scandal") was really nice, too...let me hug him and talked for a few mins...you could just tell he was stressed.
Dave was tired. He was funny, and I hugged him and got a pic w/him, too...but he wasn't very social towards us...just w/Floyd.
Everyone from MASH I met was fantastic! They were friendly and excited to meet with me...I loved them!

Back in the early 80's in Kansas City. They were still the Kings before they moved to Sacromento.

So I guess you wouldn't be interested in purchasing a Flyers Lindros jersey from me? ;)
I've met mostly local Chicago sports celebs. I used to see the Blackhawks all the time in the early 90s (that's when they were actually good) and talked to Roenick on a number of occasions. Very cool. The other most prominent ones I've met are Carlton Fisk (very funny & cool) and Walter Payton (RIP. I'm so glad I met him because he died at the young age of 45).

I've met (and hung with) the members of Rush, Triumph and Saga (all rock groups and no, I wasn't a groupie).
My husband met John Candy several times in the 80s when he shop at the local market he used to work at. Said he was the nicest and most humble guy you'd ever come across. That would have been a thrill for me.
Actually, I ran into Geddy Lee again over the holidays (after something like 16 years) and chatted for a bit. I even told him about his fans on SO and he said he may pop in for a look. :)

I met him when he was 18 and was doing his book tour Fire on Ice (cocky overall because he hadn't played 1 min in the NHL). I worked Security during his autograph signing, not only did his mom control the whole show but he was so cocky and arrogant even with the small kids (3 or 4 years old) who just wanted to shake his hand.
No Book, no autograph and no time with his fans. Gretzky on the other hand stayed an extra hour to get through all the fans and then hung out for an extra 1/2 hour and signed Autographs for all of the Security/Protection Officers.

I've met:
Colin Mochrie (Whose Line is it Anyway?) - a true and FUNNY gentleman. What you saw on TV was what you got.
Wayne Brady (Whose Line is it Anyway?) - a doll (and a GREAT hugger!!).
Drew Carey - when I went to a taping of WL, he was answering questions from the crowd and he answered mine. He complimented me on my Indians jacket.
Melissa Gilbert, Dean Butler, Alison Arngrim, Charlotte Stewart, Hersha Parady, Pamela Roylance, Stan Ivar, Allison Balson (Little House on the Prairie) - All these cast members appeared at the 2005 Tombstone (AZ) Western Film Festival. I must confess that I was not very impressed with Melissa Gilbert. While the other actors were everywhere mingling with fans, posing for pictures and signing autographs, she was by far the most standoffish. She only did ONE autograph signing (the rest did 2-3) and everyone was rushed through the line.
Having said that, everyone else was WONDERFUL!! Especially the men - Dean Butler and Stan Ivar. Such sweethearts - no egos whatsoever. Not "Hollywood" at all. Which brings me to...
Brenda & Wendi Turnbaugh (Little House on the Prairie) - They may not have gotten much screen time as the baby of the Ingalls family, but they are the LHOP cast members closest to my heart. Ever the autograph seeker, I went on a quest to get as many LHOP autographs as possible. Since the sisters have long since left show biz (LHOP was their only acting job), it was hard to find them, but I did. It's been 4 years now since Brenda answered my letter, and we quickly became the best of friends. I've even stayed at her house!! :D They were also at the Tombstone event, which is the first time I met them in person. We're still very close today. :D
