Even on the last season, when Beaver is all grown up, how come he still gets treated like a kid?

Well he isn't all grown up at the last season. He's only 13 and still in grammar school. I do think that June was a little overprotective of both the kids though.

Although I think she felt obligated to be over protective, becuase if she hadn't they probably would have ended up to be horrible children/adults....

Both kids play characters a bit less intelligent and mature than they actually were. In his autobiography, Jerry Mathers said that he didn't ever really leave off the first syllables of words like "spelled" for "expelled.'

See, this is the beauty of this show (one of the many beauties). We know so much about June's character that we can understand why she is so overprotective. She was practically raised by prim. spinsterly and virginal Aunt Martha. Aunt Martha is the direct result of a Victorian era upbringing. Add to that, June attended an all girls boarding school. I don't think you could be more sheltered than June was in her upbringing. Also, we never see June chatting with any neighbor women to get a handle on how things are. And she only socializes with other couples when Ward comes along. Oh, of course, she has tea parties and bridge clubs, but those are very genteel activities where no one would dare discuss anything as unpleasant as juvenile deliquency.

I think it would be totally out of character if June were not overprotective. Her overprotectiveness also gives Ward a chance to show his understanding of "what boys are liable to get into" which is a staple of his character. Ward is certainly more of a man of the world having been in the service, etc.

I'm curious why Ward isn't an engineer since he did that earlier in his career. He seems to be more of a "generic office worker" albeit a highly ranked one, akin to Darren Steven's ad exec job. But if he were an engineer wouldn't he have some sort of drafting table in his office, like Mike Brady, the architect? Also, we know Fred Rutherford is no engineer. He's more like an insurance salesman (no offense to insurance salesman, of course).

:lol: Fred always reminded me of a car salesman for some reason. Ward is way too smart to just be a car salesman, but Fred always reminded me of one.
