Who is your High School sports rival and what is your high school team nickname?

I live in Holdrege Nebraska and we have Three main rivals. They are the Lexington Minutemen,McCook Bison and the Minden Whippets. Minden is probably our biggest rival about two years ago our football team snuck into there field the night before and burned a letter H on there field and on the night of the game the Minden students spray painted obcenities on our bus,the suprising part is that no one got in trouble. One year during a football game some McCook and Holdrege students got into a big fight behind the concession stand and yet no one got in trouble and Lexington and Holdrege just flat out don't like each other. We just played McCook in basketball and it was the biggest crowd in our gym. McCook won,but not without its moments. The McCook coach dropped a couple of F-bombs during the game and one of our players dove head first into a vent.

My High School teams nickname is the Holdrege Dusters. We are Purple and Gold.

I thought I would share this story with other posters. Do you have any stories to tell?

The high school where I go was called East Carter High School. Home of the Raiders and our rivals will always be West Carter High School. Home of the Comets. Our rival high school girls basketball won the Kentucky state basketball title in 2000.

JDS84, We had the same situation except in football. Our rival McCook won the Nebraska class B state football championship. They beat evrybody by 20 points or more,there closest game was 28-6. The beat (my high school) Holdrege 40-0 in Holdrege:( They were an excellent team this year so I have to give them credit.

We are the Ford Falcons and I guess our biggest rivals are the Eisenhower Eagles even though they are a lot better than us football wise, they almost always go to the state finals (but they didn't this year) :)

I'm onlyin 8th, but next year I'll be going to Central, so well.... we are the Central Golden Eagles, and our rivals will always be the Cathedral Purple Panthers.

We are the Athol Red Raiders and our main rival is the Mahar Senators. Our other rival is Frontier High School but I don't remember what their team name is.

Our highschool rivals are the Sandy Creek Cougars and the Henderson/Hartland Huskies and Sandy Creek is our biggest rival because they used to be very good until these last couple years after the Shaws graduated now we can fianlly beat them. And Henderson like 2 years ago we killed them in football and there Coach wouldn't shake hands with our Coach he just stormed off the field cusing and he told his team not to shake our teams hands, that is very poor sportmanship. Oh and our highscool teams nickname is, actually we have two one for the guys and one for the girls and the guys is the Sutton Mustangs and the girls are the Sutton Fillies.

I remember Sandy Creek when they won 6 strait class C2 championships in girls basketball. I remember they had the shaws and also Tara Ninemyer,they had alot of talant back then. I wish Holdrege could be that good,but the class B is tough expecialy when they schedule us against Lincoln Pius and and two teams from Omaha when we don't live anywhere close to there. Holdrege has already played rival McCook and I was suprised to see a lot of McCook fans at the game,however the games went in there favor and our girls played Lexington also,but Lex won,now we have Minden coming up and the boys still play Lex so those should be good games. How good are the sutton basketball teams this year?

I have another story about the Minden,Holdrege rivalry. One of my friends was dating someone from Minden and of course she lived in Holdrege anyway once the kids in Minden found out about this they broke up and never spoke to each other again,thats how much hatred there is between the two schools.

Well so far the boys and girls are undefeted well the boys played Superior last week and almost lost. Through most of the game Superior was down by 2 points and every 5 mins the game would be tied well that was until the last 2:00 then the Mustangs got ahead by 5 points but it was a very good game.

Well Holdrege plays the Cozad Haymakers tomarrow both boys and girls in Holdrege tomarrow night. Cozad is a mild rival back from are days in the swc. I am excited because Holdrege hasn't played a home game since the Holiday tourney back in December. Although in the mean time are boys upset #9 class C1 ranked GICC which suprised me because they have a sophomore who is 6'10 and our tallest player is 6'4, oh well it should be a good game tomarrow night!

Holdrege and Cozad must be bigger rivals than I thought, In tonights boys game there were 4 technical fouls(all from players 3 from Cozad and 1 from Holdrege). Unfortunatly are girls lost a big lead again and lost 41-36,but our boys won 66-41. Now Holdrege's next Home game is against Minden if you want to see two bitter rivals this game should be very exciting it is the battle of Highway 6&34. There could be a problem having the Minden and Holdrege students on the same side of the gym as for us on the non student section side it won't be much different talk about two teams that hate each other. I am very excited for this game and can't wait until next Friday!!! Let the trash talking begin!

That sounds like what happened with Holdrege and Minden a few years ago, when some of our football players and students got onto there field and burned a letter H right on midfield,then during the game the Minden students went to our bus and spraypainted obscenites on it,both schools had to apologise,but that really hasn't done any good. So needless to say there is a lot of bad blood between the two schools and next friday they come to Holdrege for a basketball game oh I can't wait.

Well the time is drawing closer Holdrege and Minden are just hours away from the big rivalry showdwn and I can't wait its going to be a chant fest and could possible get ugly. I hope it all goes well.

The time has come Holdrege VS Minden the battle of highway 6 &34,the battle of schools that have pure hatred for one another. Well its time to go and like I said it could get ugly tonight.

Well like I said Holdrege played Minden in Basketball tonight and just as I thought it was ugly. Holdrege girls killed them, however we get to the boys game it was a classic game and a classic for the rivalry Minden won the game 42-40 Holdrege missed a last second shot oh well. The referees were being cussed to death by both schools fans and rightfully so they sucked. It was also one big chant fest. Some of Minden's chants were, quite complaining, air ball and a lot of chants involving the F word. Some of Holdrege's chants were BS, air ball, screw you and a few more I won't mention,but like I said this game was an instant classic and it was a packed crowd. After the game WWIII almost started between the students from each school there were lots of words exchanged and a lot of pushing and shoving,it was ugly and the best part is and what I'm really looking forward to, first football game in Sept. it is Holdrege VS Minden in Holdrege I'm already counting down to that day. This rivalry has just gone up a few more notches.
