MHMH was a soap opera parody. It was based around Mary Hartman, who is married to Tom Hartman. Their marriage is starting to break up. They have a daughter, named Heather. Mary's best friend was Loretta Haggers, who is married to Charlie Haggers. He is much older than her. Mary's parents, George and Martha Shumway, also live near them, along with her sister Cathy. Martha's father, Grandpa Larkin, lives with them. In the early episodes he is also known as the Fernwood Flasher.
