Maude didn't know the Florida Evans who lived in Chicago. She only knew the Florida Evans who lived in Harlem.

Maude just didn't visit Florida after she moved to Chicago. They came to the sad realization that they would never visit one another when Florida was leaving.

I thought he was quite the idiot. Turnip backs and fat greens? I am a white boy who never spent time in the ghetto, but I would never make that mistake. The fellow defintely wasn't that smart.

I stand corrected. The white doctor who gave James the physical was not an idiot or a crook.
