Hi all!

I've recently acquired nine VHS volumes of the Columbia House set. They are:

Barney
Wojo
Chano
Levitt
Fish
Harris
The 12th Precint
Luger
Dietrich

Each tape contains four episodes each. I'm pretty happy about having the tapes since, because they are un-viewed (six of the tapes are still sealed!), they will make a great source to make VCD's for example, to tie me over until and official DVD set is released (will this ever happen?)

My question is, how many volumes made up the Columbia House set? The Columbia House site is totally useless (it sends you directly to a shopping cart with no details). My guess is that there is/was a "Yemana" volume making it a 10-tape set. I'm trying to find out, but I'll appreciate any information.

Thanks
maclen

Well, I just found out there is indeed a "Yemana" volume, and also one called "Quitting Time", so that shoots to the ground my theory of a ten-tape set.

there's one called lewd and lacivious, too. (or however its spelled)

i hope tvland decides to show a lot of
the eps they've been skipping, then i will have the whole series on vcd and that will RULE.

So they have 11-12 tapes? That is unusual, I know they stopped at 10 with Family Ties, Diff'rent Strokes, and The Incredible Hulk.

Maybe they will release more Barney Miller tapes in the future, I know they released more then 10 for Good Times and Sanford & Son.

I think if you e-mail Columbia House they are pretty responsive, and can tell you exactly how many tapes they've released and which episodes.

OK, I've acquired two more volumes: One is called "Quitting Time" and the other one is called "Blood On The Badge". There was a nice surprise with the "Quitting Time" volume since as a bonus, it had episode #14 of the Fish show (The Missing Fish). This was the storyline that culminated with the two parter "Goodbye Mr. Fish" in Barney Miller.

I had never seen a "Fish" episode before. A lot of the behind the scenes people from Barney Miller were also involved in Fish. George Murdock makes an appearance here, not as Scanlon though, but as a detective from another precint who comes to the Fish home to take information on Det. Fish, who has been reported missing. He is hilarious here and totally steals the show!

I still don't know how many volumes were relased by Columbia House. They never answered my e-mail either.

OH, so you're the one bidding them up on ebay. Now I see what I'm up against.

Beware the edited episodes on the Columbia Tapes. Each of tapes 2-5 have one edited episode, including "Ramon." I cancelled the subscription after tape 5.

I have the entire Barney Miller Columbia House Collection; and I noticed a lot of the episodes are edited, but there are not as cut as they were when they were shown on TV Land...
