Why wasn't the Waldo character on Family Matters the last two seasons?

I believe it was because he went to New York... Went to some cooking school there if I remember right..

I believe so, he was always a cook well from 4th season up or so, Then I think in 9th season Maxine said he went to New York...

Waldo was on the show for about 5 years 1991-1996, it was an episode in the 8th season when Maxine got a postcard from Waldo, and she was crying when she read it to Laura.
