That man is Carl Ballantine. He began his show business career on stage, doing a magic act, billed as "The Great Ballantine". In the late 1950's, he segued into film and television.

He maintained his career over the next five decades, most lately appearing in a handful of films in 1998-9. At the time I write this, he is still alive.
