Many post lately have been about how each season compared to the others. So here are my favorite and least favorite seasons.
ILL: I would have to say season 2 was the best. The first half of season 1 wasn't that great. The writers and cast were still working on jelling together. But by the end of Season 1 things started going great with many classic episodes like Job Switching and Lucy Does a Commericial. This momentum carried on into Season 2 and the addition of Lucy's pregnancy made it fantastic. The worst I think was Season 6. The first half they before they moved to the country was getting somewhat dull. I don't think the country episodes are particularly great except for "Lucy Does the Tango". That's a classic.
And for fun since this has been a hot topic lately TLS:
This is so clear cut. Season 1 is, without a doubt, the best season. Lucy and Viv were great together. The scripts and plots were logical and great. I had lots and lots of laughs. The worst is season 4. The show had started to decline in season 3 with the loss of Bob and Madelyn and Desi the year before. But when Viv left, the plots and scripts had no premises, the character Lucy had no premise, and it got to be stupid.
And why not HL:
I would have to say season 3 is the best. The season premere "Lucy Meets the Burtons" was the best of the series. It also marked the return on a part-time basis of Bob and Madelyn. For the most part, the scripts and plots were good and logical, the cast worked well together, the character Lucy actually had a life and overall it was good. The worst is season 5. It's like season 4 of TLS......only worse!!

Best: I've always been partial to one, but two was good too. Anything in the first apartment except "Drafted."
Worst: Season six by far. Turning Lucy into a country marm was a BAD idea. She was a city girl.

Wasn't Job Switching the first episode of season two? Anyway, i agree season two and three and four and five, then 1 then 6! The Hollywood episodes and European booking could even be one and two although they were 4 and 5, confused yet? I am one of those poor souls who loved Lucy alone on the Lucy show, so i liked 4 5 an 6, but agree that season 1 was the best. Here's Lucy was the best the first three seasons with both kids, then it was all downhill, but i had my toboggan and went with her down that hill anyway.

I went downhill with her too alone with many other Lucy fans wishing we could pull her back up.

My least favorite season of I Love Lucy is season one. The episodes, in my opinion, were not as near as great as the ones in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th seasons. I wasn't impressed with these episodes of the 1st season: "The Audition", "The Adagio", "The Benefit", "Lucy Fakes Illness", "Lucy Plays Cupid", and "The Publicity Agent". It just seemed to me that season 1 was the weakier season.
I really don't have a particular favorite season of I Love Lucy because they were pretty much excellent (including the final season).

The main problem with "The Benefit", IMHO, is that damn silly song they make Desi sing - I'm Breaking My Back, Putting Up A Front For You. It's like they all got together to come up with the song that would be hardest for him to sing. "The Audition" is okay, but I prefer "The 'Lost' Pilot" that it's based on. I quite like "The Adagio" though. Ricky's scenes with Jean-Raymond in the bedroom are good.
Stretching my memory way further back than is entirely good for it (:)) I seem to remember thinking that the middle episodes were the best. Seasons 3 and 4 perhaps. Don't know why, and I was just a kid when I watched them, so I might feel differently about them now. I'm really enjoying watching season 1 again though.

I think Season 5 is best - I like Season 6, 4, and 3 and 2, BUT NOT SEASON ONE!
I never for some reason liked season one. The people weren't developed yet. I do like Pioneer Women, Vitameatavegamin, Breaking The Lease, Ricky Asks For A Raise...............OH NO! I forgot how many episodes were classics in season one! Take that back about hating Season One if you please!

Well, I think everyone is talking about the 1st half of season 1. It wasn't particularly great. Yes, things did start going well the second half and that's when all the classic episodes happened.

That was actually "The Amateur", wasn't it. I don't like that episode much at all. "The Benefit" is mostly okay though. I like it when they sing Auf Wiedersehen My Dear, which is possibly one of the silliest songs in the history of mankind. It shouldn't work, and probably wouldn't with anybody else, but when Lucy says that she sounds like a seal, it makes Desi laugh, which is funny. They do the jokes and song sequence at the end so well too, which shows how good their old cabaret tour must have been.

Did none of you people take German lessons in school? :)

I'm French Canadian, so i had enough trouble with learning English. I dun't thin anybody takes German in North America, we would have only if things had turned out differently in WWII!

I had a friend who spoke German fluently.
All the German I know I learned from Hogan's Heroes reruns. :D

Season 4 is definitely my favorite, because I love the Hollywood episodes. I also like Season 3.
The last season is my least favorite for sure. Moving the Ricardos and Mertzes to Connecticut ruined the show for me.

I know, bu they had to, they were running out of ideas!

The last showings over here never got as far as the Mertzes moving to Conneticut as well, so I don't know how they played out. The last episode I've seen was the one when Mrs Ramsey (can't remember her name) helped Lucy to buy new furniture, which turned into an all-out war between the two families, and Ralph and Ricky had a big fight. I liked that episode, but I do seem to remember that it wasn't as good as before. The Ramseys just weren't as good as next-door neighbours as Fred and Ethel were. (They knocked before entering for one thing!). Change often takes time to get used to, though, and maybe if they'd carried on with it for longer it would have seemed as good as the old episodes back in the city?
Just a thought... if Ricky used to get back at 2-3 in the morning when he lived practically just down the road from the club, what kind of time was he getting back when they moved all the way out to Connecticut?! Did he ever sleep?! :)

The Mertzes moved there right away and lived in their guest house, in one of the funnier episodes, they applied as people in charge of the chickens. The Ramseys NEVER replaced them in any way! Thought Mary Jane was excellent in that role!
