This is most likely going to wind up at the Chit Chat Movies section. For the record, the first movie I saw in theaters that I can recall is "Hook".

The Little Mermaid, I was five years old, and I was terrified of Ursula. I remember I kept trying to look away when she came on but behind us was the reflection on the wall and it seemed like she was everywhere. So, thanks to my overactive imagination, we had to leave the theater. I can't believe I was so afraid of a cartoon!

The first one that I can recall seeing is House on Haunted Hill -- the original film from 1958. That would make me around 3 years old at the time, unless it was being shown as some kind of revival fest. I would have been absolutely no older than seven, even if I happened to see it later than its release year, because I saw it before some life altering events that occured when I was seven.
I was so scared that I recall hiding behind the seats in the movie theater. :eek2:

The first one I can remember seeing in an actual theater was "Follow that Bird"

We seem to have a lot of Disney movies on this list.
So I guess I will continue the trend.
One of the earliest movie memories was when I went into NYC with my family to see "Mary Poppins" at Radio City Music Hall - back when Radio City showed movies.
I think I was four or five at the time...
Next one was a few years later - "Star Wars."

I don't remember the 1st movie that I watched in a theater, but I remember that Pet Cemetary was the 1st movie that I watched at a drive-in. I wouldn't hold still. I was just a lil' kid & I has LOTS of energy back then. I kept wanting to get out of the car, or go to the restroom!!!

The first movie I ever saw in the theater was E.T. I remember it so well, because with five kids, we didn't get to go to the movies hardly ever. I was in first grade, and my mom filled my baby sister's diaper bag with popcorn(it's wrong to sneak food in...I know.) We all had the best time. My dad cried...and I had never really seen him cry before.
When the movie was re-released this past summer, I took my four year old. She loved it as much as I did.:)

Ironically, after having posted the "Moses" thread , The first movie I ever saw was The Ten Commandments! It was at a drive- in movie when I was very young. Way back in the 50's. I fell asleep half way through it. But I do remember that during the "Parting of the Red Sea"
scene it was pouring down rain!

I was like 12 and by my mom and almost DIED right in my chair. So THAT'S why you are so dead set against ever having sex until marriage even if you don't get married until you're thirty. And even then having sex for procreation purposes only--which would be twice, I guess, one boy, one girl. :)
Anyway, I don't remember what the first movie I ever went to was and wouldn't tell you all if I could remember, lol. But I do remember seeing a movie my grandma took me to. I must have been about 7. It was a gangster movie with people getting machine gunned and burned and ground up in garbage trucks. Scared the heck out of me, but I don't think my sweet and funny grandma knew that and I don't think she understood that I was too young to be seeing such a movie. I laugh about now, but it was scary at the time.
My parents took me to see Snow White when I was about 4. I don't really remember it. I do recall seeing The Fox and the Hound , and Benji the Hunted.

SANTA CLAUS THE MOVIE, I must have been three, I spent most of the movie in the bathroom - I didn't know what else to do, the concept of sitting still for two hours escaped me. :)

I see very young kids at the movies or baseball games. It's plain to see that sitting still for anything for over a few minutes in not in their makeup.
