I'm definitely not grade obsessed, but if I ever got below a B on any report card, progress report, etc., there'd probably be a good chance of my killing myself. That's not grade obsessed, right?
One of my friends cried over an A- once, which is what I'm guessing you mean by grade obsessed.

No, but I'm gonna have to kepp them up this semester so my GPA and class rank could get higher. Basically what I want is to get into a good college. When I'm there, all of my other worries will basically disappear.

I'm sorry I meant like getting a B or lower but I obsess about it.I do sometimes get upset when I get an A- depending on what subject it is.I'm obsessed with getting straight "A"s all the time.

No, I don't care. I mostly get C's and D's so I really don't give, I really want to drop out, I'm almost 16 so I'll have to see what I'll do. :)

The only reason I care about what grades I get is because my parents get soooooooooooooooooooo pissed when I get bad grades...otherwise I could care less.

I used to be obsessed with grades last year. Luckily I got over that since I learned to except that I'm not smart enough to get perfect grades. I still try to get As on everything but I don't cry about it all the time if I don't.

Omg..... I'm a grade freak. Ok.... I cried once cause I got a 99% on a test. I forgot to capitalize something and got one point taken off and I went BALLISTIC! I must get good grades. I'm a highly meticulous person, a perfectionist even (or beyond), and whenever I don't get an A, I cry. I stayed in my room for 2 days this past summer because I had gotten a B+. I never came out except to go to the bathroom. And omg, wanna know something really really scary? I need help.

I was more obsessed about passing. I was cool with any passing grade I could earn. I hated getting D's or F's. I didn't mind the other grades, just as long as they were passing.
I'm not sure how everybody's school works, but at the high school they worked on the credit system. You had to get 7 credits to be a sophomore. 14 to be a junior. 21 to be a senior and 28 to graduate. I made damn sure that I passed in order to get all the credits for the year. It would've been such a pain to get 20 credits and be in that in between mark- you weren't a full senior or a full junior- you were in between.
I earned every credit for every class I took. I had to earn at least a 70 to get a credit. Which, I did have those times where I was very close to not getting a credit for some classes. Then with the classes that I knew I couldn't afford to fail (Senior Lit), I did flash cards and studied them. Believe me, I've never been a flash card kind of person before. Flash cards are pretty easy to study by. It's always best to save up those extra credits too. My last semester of my senior year- were just filler classes. It didn't matter if I passed or failed the last semester, because I had my Snr. Lit credit and all my other credits that I needed. I still kind of pushed myself that extra way and passed the last 4 classes, so I graduated high school with 32 credits.

......UHHHHHHHHHHH.......... *snorts*
Ok well, I really don't give a sh!t... I mean, I don't get grades that are THAT bad. But my mom get's mad when I get C's...and she's said before, "C's are average and there's nothing wrong with them". When I make a C she ususally ends up grounding me. She makes no sence. HAaaaah. Ohhhh well.

IMO, it's not really the grades that matter...it's what you learn. People will say that grades reflect what you learn, but that's not always the case. Some people (like me) understand the material; they just do horribly on tests and things. So...I know I've already replied to this, but I don't get too upset about grades at all. If I don't get something and I'm totally lost on it, THEN it's time to get upset and start panicking. :D

i dont think im too obsessed- i get As and Bs, I freak if i think im getting anything less but im usually okay. Last year I thought I was going to get a C+ in chem and I begged my teacher to round up to a B-, it worked. Maybe I should be a lawyer...lol
anyways- I used to be a lot more obsessed, now im a perfectionist about other things but not as much about grades. Only the idea of this being "junior year" scares the crap out of me!

OMG, I am such a grade whore (as my English and history teachers refer to it as.) I know I am fully capable of receiving all A's and if I don't I get really pissed off at myself. Most of the time I get 5 A's and 2 B's on my report card (the B's are in math and science) and I'm ok with that. If I get a B-, I am so upset with myself, same thing if I get an A- in French.
I've always received good grades so I know I am smart enough, not to sound conceited, so a lot of B's on a report card are a big :nonono: to me.

I was when I was in school. Probably too obsessed. I was always under so much stress to do good. Not for my parents, not for college, but for myself. I'm my own worst enemy when it comes to things like that. If I got a "B", I failed myself.
It became easier in 11th grade for me. Before then I took all advanced courses. 9th grade Honors Algebra 2 and 10th grade applied physics ring a bell. *shudder*
Then I realized "Hey. I can take on-level courses, get straight A's, and only have to work 1/3rd as hard as I am now."
I cared about my grades...but was smart enough to realize after 11 years that the easy way to earn them was to not kill yourself with hard classes and 4-6 hours of homework a day. Plus I had a blast in 11th grade. (I only stayed a couple months of 12th. I had well over enough credits to graduate, had enough of the high school BS, and wanted out.)

Time to shatter some preconceptions...... *Mossopp rubs her hands with glee* :
Grades aren't important.
Yeah, ok, so you get crap grades and you might not be the smartest person in the world but a lot of jobs (in Scotland anyway) only require you to have something like 2 Standard Grades - at any level! Any muppet could get two Standard Grades - they're not difficult.
In contrast, I got 8 Standard Grades, 5 Highers (all A's and B's), a CSYS Certificate in Geography and a Level 2 SVQ in Accounts and I frequently get turned down for jobs cos I'm "over-qualified".
Add to that - I'm not really that clever . I'm not stupid by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm definately no Einstein. I got all these great exam results cos I memorised the sh#t I was supposed to know. That's all you need to do to pass an exam. You don't neccesarily have to understand the work - you just need to learn it.
When I was at school I never let exams or grades stress me out. The only thing about school that stressed me out was the bullying and name-calling. Everything else was a breeze.
I know I sound like a pain in the arse by saying this but you really should enjoy school while you're there. I know it's tough sometimes but the Big Bad World is even tougher and you'll find yourself on your own out there sooner than you think.
Count your blessings.

This week I'm taking Istep at skewl... its the statewide testing for Indiana. The only time in high school you take it is in 10th grade and you have to pass it to graduate high school... I HAVE TO PASS W/ FLYING COLORS.
