EPISODE 188 – Mallory’s Doing Fine
[Scene: The kitchen. Jennifer is talking to Mallory.]
Mallory: Jennifer, do you have a boyfriend right now?
Jennifer: Not right now…
Mallory: Oh, I see.
Jennifer: Why do you ask?
Mallory: Just wondering.
Jennifer: Are you okay?
Mallory: Well… Nick and me just broke up, and we were planning on getting married.
Jennifer: And…?
Mallory: And now I’m alone.
Jennifer: You’ll find someone.
Mallory: Hopefully.
Jennifer: You just need to notice more people. The next guy you meet could possibly be the one.
(Skippy walks in the kitchen)
Skippy: Hey everyone!
Mallory: Oh no… SKIPPY!
Skippy: What… what did I do?
Mallory: You came in!
Skippy: Oh, did you want me to knock first?
Mallory: It’s fine… come in and sit down.
Skippy: How are you doing?
Mallory: Pretty good… just depressed a bit.
Skippy: About Nick?
Mallory: Of course about Nick!
Jennifer: She says she’s all alone.
Skippy: But you have all of your friends… and me!
Mallory: (sarcastically) Great.
(Alex walks in the kitchen)
Alex: What are all of you doing?
Mallory: Talking… just talking.
Alex: What’s wrong?
Mallory: If ONE more person asks that I’m gonna flip out!!
(Steven walks in the kitchen)
Steven: Hi guys! Mallory, I just heard something’s wrong. What is it?
Mallory: Ahhhhhh!
Steven: Are you okay?!
Jennifer: Yes, she’s fine. Just a little… uhh… crazy.
Steven: Can I help?
Mallory: Not really.
Steven: Well, let me know if I can.
Mallory: Alex… can I talk to you in the family room?
Alex: Sure.
(They both walk into the family room)
Mallory: I need a boyfriend.
Alex: Mal, I’m NOT going out with you somewhere!
Mallory: I wasn’t going to ask you! I just wanna know if you have any friends.
Alex: Of course I have friends!
Mallory: No! Friends that can go out with me!
Alex: Well… my friends aren’t as crazy as you.
Mallory: Alex!! Pleeease help!
Alex: Okay, I’ll find you someone.
Mallory: Thank you!
(Mallory hugs Alex)
[Scene: A Chinese restaurant. Mallory is sitting with her date.]
Mallory: So what’s your name again?
Jake: It’s Jake.
Mallory: Okay. So… what are your hobbies?
Jake: Hobbies? Oh… I don’t have any.
Mallory: Well then what do you like to do?
Jake: Nothing. There’s no point to life. We’re all gonna die.
Mallory: Then… so do you go to school?
Jake: No.
Mallory: Do you work?
Jake: No.
Mallory: Do you do anything?
Jake: No…
Mallory: Check PLEASE!!!
Jake: What? You don’t like me?
(Mallory walks away from the table)
Jake: Mallory? Mallory…..? But we didn’t get our egg rolls yet!!
[Scene: Mallory’s room. She’s talking to Alex.]
Alex: So it went bad?
Mallory: VERY bad. He was so dull and boring!
Alex: He was the only one who was free tonight!
Mallory: And now I’m hungry too.
Alex: Why?
Mallory: I walked out before we got dinner.
Alex: It was THAT bad?
Mallory: Worse.
Alex: We could get some food.
Mallory: That sounds good. I haven’t talked to you in a long time. We really need to catch up.
Alex: Sounds good. Let’s go.
[Scene: The kitchen. Elyse, Steven, and Jennifer are getting ready to eat dinner.]
Elyse: Mmm… it all smells so good.
Steven: I can’t wait to eat it!
Jennifer: It sounds too healthy to be any good.
Elyse: Oh Jennifer, once you taste it, you’ll be in love.
Steven: What are we waiting for?
Elyse: Alex and Mallory.
(Alex and Mallory come into the kitchen looking very happy, and walk out the back door. Everyone else looks stunned)
Elyse: Was that… Alex, and… and… Mallory?!
Jennifer: They were getting along!!
Elyse: Unbelievable.
Steven: Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s eat!
[Scene: The same Chinese restaurant. Mallory and Alex are talking.]
Mallory: So how have you been?
Alex: Not too good.
Mallory: You’ll find a job, don’t worry. You’re very smart.
Alex: Of course I am. How has the house been without me?
Mallory: Fun… peaceful… friendly… happy…
Alex: Okay, I get the point.
Mallory: How was your job… while it lasted?
Alex: It was a dream come true, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be.
Mallory: I’m very happy with my job.
Alex: And I’m very proud of you.
Mallory: Thank you.
Alex: You’ve come a long way. You overcame very big obstacles, and you are doing fine.
Mallory: I guess I am doing fine!
