In one early season Jackie is dating this one guy named Gary. What happens that makes them break up?

I think you're talking about the guy she was gonna marry that in the beginning Roseanne didn't approve of.

Well, what happened is Jackie was called onto a scence, she was a cop at this time. She wrestled with the suspect who was naked and she fell down the stairs with him. And I beleive she got injured. So she found out she was gonna be stuck behind a desk for her entire career. She didn't let Gary no but he came into the room Jackie was in and told her that she either had to quit her job or be with him. So she chose to end the relationship. Even though she had already planned to quit. She just didn't want Gary to tell her what to do.

Yeah, That's right they break up cause Jackie doesn't want a man telling her how to live her life. Just like Gary did do.

Just wanted to say that Jackie hurt her back in the tumble with the naked guy. She refers to the injury as being 'hurt in the line of duty' in another episode, the one when Dan is having sexual dreams about Marge at the hardware store.
