I am aware that, as with all of David Lynch's movies, there is no one correct explanation as to how the events in this film all tie up but I'd be real interested to hear people's interpretations of the movie. I saw it on DVD last week and I've been trying to piece together all the events in my head ever since. Anyone wanna compare theories?
I reckon 'Mulholland Drive' is the best movie of 2002 so far.

I know this is a REALLY old topic, but I saw it last night. WEIRDEST MOVIE IN THE WORLD. Anyways, here's my theory.
Betty = Camilla
Rita = Diane
Dead girl = Betty
Camilla = waitress

Well, I'm not so sure about the last one, but I do know that Betty was Camilla... when she looked @ Adam, they had something between them. Rita was Diane cos she had all the money and the key. What I don't get is who was Camilla? And the old people trying to kill Diane @ the end? I think that Diane sold her soul to the Devil, that the box was the Devil's box. But there's things that we realised the second time through (we watched it twice in a row cos we didn't get it LOL). Like that guy in the wheelchair. He was sitting there and the box was on a pedestal behind him. Also, the guy from the motel that Adam stayed @ with the white moustache. But we all thought "Oh, this is back in time" but then Adam made the joke "I got the pool and she got the pool man" so if it was BACK in time, then that couldn't have happened. However, if it's FORWARD in time, then when Diane said "My aunt left me a lot of money when she died" and she had the money in her purse to pay the guy (who I'm SURE was in with the Devil and he was buying her soul), but if it was forward in time, then why did Rita have it? And also, who was the dead girl? Cos Diane woke up in that EXACT position. And... aaah I'm so lost. Explain please *sits*
