RAPPER Jay-Z has become the most hated member of the hip-hop community.
Foxy Brown and Ja Rule have joined Nas in proclaiming their animosity for
Jay-Z, and Brown is following Nas' lead by putting it into song.
"Foxy's new album, "Ill Na Na II: The Fever," is coming out in October and is
full of rhymes about how ungrateful and bad Jay is," our spy said.
Brown, whose career has tanked in the past few years, is furious with Jay-Z
because she takes credit for building his career in the mid-'90s when he was
starting out. She feels Jay-Z has been less than supportive since her own
career sagged.
"When Jay-Z was first coming through the ranks in 1996, Foxy showed him the
ropes, introduced him to a lot of people, and had him guest rap on her abum,
'Ill Na Na,' and even gave him a producing credit," our source said.
"Two years later, she did the same thing with 'China Doll' and cemented his
reputation. She used her celebrity to promote him."
All was fine between the pals until 2000, when Brown was admitted into a
Brooklyn hospital for a drug overdose and went to rehab for her addiction to
painkillers. A year later, Brown's album "Broken Silence" flopped and "Jay-Z
stopped returning all her calls. He dodges her at every turn."
Brown was so angered by Jay-Z's duplicity she rapped about her hurt feelings on
DJ Clue's new song, "Freestyle II." In the number, Brown vents: "Bitch. I'm the
one who made you - who was there when they underpaid you."
Brown, now sober, is launching a new label, Ill Na Na Records, which her
brothers Gavin and Anton Marshand will run. A rep for Brown would only confirm
that the rapper's album is due in October. Jay-Z didn't return calls.
Meanwhile, Ja Rule carries a grudge against Jay-Z because "Jay always takes the
credit for creating him, when Ja feels he built himself up," according to
sources.
Ja Rule, who says Jay-Z "never helped me out at all," is giving Jay-Z's nemesis
Nas a recording contract when Nas' deal with Columbia is up.
"Ja Rule's label, Murder Inc., wants to do a deal with Nas - they teamed up a
couple of weeks ago and worked everything through," our snitch said.
Nas recently walked out on radio station Hot 97's Summer Jam because he wasn't
allowed to bring "props" - an effigy of Jay-Z which he was planning to lynch -
on the stage.
Nas left the show in disgust, claiming Jay-Z had been allowed to bring props
last year and went to station Power 105 to air his complaints.
