I was only 5 years old when Laverne and Shirley moved to californa so for anyone who was 17 older at that time, why wasn't the show no more good after they left Milwaukee?

Maybe, their new apartment was bigger. It's not like in the Milwaukee days when the girls struggled to make ends meet when they lived in the 'cellar.' When they went to Cal., they got jobs at a dept. store as gift wrappers, so they made more money then they did as bottlecappers. In my opinion, I don't mind them moving. After all, the producers got bored with Milwaukee after 4 1/2 years. On the other hand, when Shirley left, THAT'S when it went downhill.

Well i guess whenever L&S comes back to TV LAND i will have to compare the milwaukee days and the california days.

That tells me they were running out of ideas, and they couldn't find a new situation or plot so they had to move to a different location. It probably was a big change for viewers and adjusting to the changes of the show, while they were in California. I guess thats why the ratings slipped.

I feelthat was the dumbest move for the producers of L&S to make in the history of television-the show is nmber 1 in milwaukee and 31 in californa-I guess that explains the term-"if it ain't broke don't fix it"

All shows run out of ideas...so what do they do? Move, add children, marraige, anything to save it. But usually, it ends up killing it. When will they learn???
