The reason i think the show Different world got worse after denise left because she was the reason the show existed-remember denise graduated from high school and went to Hillman-she was the star of that show and when she left i felt it was no reason to watch anymore

I also only like watching the Denise episodes, I think the rest of the five seasons were just not as good as the first

you are right, that's why now i'm waiting for TBS to get back to the beginning of the series so that i can watch the episodes with denise, especially the ones when the huxtable came to visit

IMO, ADW only got better when the character of Denise left because I really didn't like many of the first season characters. I prefer the later years, but that is JMO!

JOEY: Ok, buddy boy, here it is: You hide my clothes, I'm wearing everything you own!
CHANDLER: Oh my god, that is so NOT the opposite of taking somebody's underwear!
JOEY: Look at me, I'm Chandler! Could I BE wearing any more clothes?

I guess because the Denise was the reason the show existed since it spinned off from the Cosby Show. When she left-i lost interest completely-I'm surprised the show even stayed on-I think if denise stayed on the show if would have lasted 4 more years or more because it would have opened the door for other cosby kids-like teo probably would have gone to hillman, and then Vanessa-but since Denise left that did not happen

Flutterby01, I agree with you, the show got better after Denise left. To me Denise didn't have any chemistry with the A Different World cast like she did with the Cosby Show cast, so I'm glad things turned out the way it did, except the fact that Lisa Bonet got fired from the Cosby Show in its last season.

Solomon, I have to disagree, I think if all of the Cosby kids would have went to Hillman the show would have got stale really fast and got cancelled even sooner. The ratings in the first season weren't as good as they were in the later seasons, so I don't think the show would have lasted if Denise stayed on. But you have to give the later seasons a little bit of props, Debbie Allen was able to change the shows direction so it wouldn't get cancelled because of Lisa.

Well i have to judge the different world episodes when denise is not on the show. I was too young to remember the crossover episodes with the cosby show cast but i wanted to know was those different world episodes good.

I think all of the Cosby kids crossed over except Sondra. I would have to see the one where Theo and Rudy went on there again because I can't remember what happened.

But I do remember an episode where Claire went on there and brought Vanessa and her big mouthed friend with her. This episode was after Denise left the show, I think Dwayne found out that Denise was married to Martin a couple of episodes earlier, so he was chasing after Whitley. But the episode was pretty much about Vanessa and her friend trying to get with Dwayne and Ron telling them that they were college students, because Vanessa knew who Dwayne was and knew he used to like Denise so she didn't want him to know that she was Denise's sister. At the end, Vanessa was dancing with a reluctant Dwayne and her friend was dancing with Ron, then Claire came in and busted them out leaving Dwayne and Ron embarassed since they found out that Vanessa was Claire's daughter and the fact that they were only in high school.

I think the Huxtables only showed up in the earlier seasons, I don't remember them crossing over in seasons 4-6, but I could be wrong. You can check out www.tvtome.com to get an in depth episode guide.

I don't think none of the cosby kids returned to hillman after the first season. But Clair returned by herself to hillman I think in season 3 or 4 to do a interview with the students about their goals. I do have that episode on tape but i waiting for TBS to return back to the first season so that i can tape the episodes with the cosby kids at Hillman.

The episode where Clair interviewed the students was the same episode I just described with Vanessa and her friend, right? I just left out Clair's part in the whole thing.

NO the episode I have with Clair at Hillman is her by herself no vanessa at all. I'm still trying to get the episodes when the cosby family came to visit denise at hillman. I guess TBS will show the first season again someday

I think the post Denise episodes of A Different World were better. When Lisa Bonet was on the show it was basically a starring vehicle for her and the other characters were there essentially to support her. After Lisa left the other characters were able to be much more developed and the writers were able to explore many relationships between the characters not just how they related to Denise.

Well it seems lke TBS feels the same way you do because the network never shows the first season of Different world. It seems like it's only from the fall 88 not 87

I have to agree that ADW GOT SO MUCH BETTER AFTER Lisa Bonet (Denise) lefte. The show was so boring when she was on I think she was better in the Cosby show. I think it is ashame that TBS only airs it once a week.

I agree that the first season of the show is a completly different show than the rest of the season. Here are my thoughts. The first season of the show Denise was the lead character and the other characters were just supporting characters. All of the stories revolved around her. Also the character especially Dwayne and Whitley are completly different characters the first season than the rest of the show. The first season they were very one dementional and the viewer rarely got to see them beyond their public vesas.

After Lisa left the show, it became of an unsomble show. Dwayne and Whitley became more human to me. It was a group of characters in a college rather then one character in a college and her classmates.

Personally, I liked all of the season's exept the last one, it stayed on the air one season to long like most sitcoms (even the Cosby show stayed on a year to long). But even though I liked the first season I still liked the Denise character better on the Cosby show (atleast her first run on the show, I don't know about when she came back and brought husband and Olivia with her)

Though she did make a guest apperance in the third season when Dwayne visited her, I would have liked for Denise to visit Hillman, catch up with the old characters and meet the new ones at least once after she left the show.

Recap, Denise was better on the Cosby show, Denise should have visited Hillman atleast once after she left, and the last season sucked.

I think the characters were very unlikeable after Denise left. The second most likeable character on that show was Marissa Tomei and she left when Denise did. It also helped to have The Huxtables appear from time to time.
