View Full Version : Remake A Movie
Now we all know there have been some less than stellar remakes of some great films (Planet Of The Apes, anyone? Not to mention that friggin piece of crap Rollerball - aaargh! don't get me started on that one!!!).
However....
If you could remake a movie, which one would it be, and why?
Who would you cast? What changes would you make? How would you update it?
Get cracking! I'll be grading your responses in the morning...

Well I would say I didn't particularly care for the Eddie Murphy remake of the Jerry Lewis classic. Don't get me wrong, Murphy was fine, but the special effects, repetitive fart jokes, ect just drove me crazy.
To me the ultimate Nutty is Jerry. The 1963 version was stylishly put together, coherent (unlike some of Lewis's other work), funny, and interesting.
I used to feel that Lewis was actually recreating Martin and Lewis in his version. With Professor Kelp being the lovable Jerry, and Buddy Love being the hip ladies man, Dean Martin. Yet on closer examination Kelp is the screen Jerry, while the obnoxious Buddy Love is an extension of Lewis' real life personality. I have to give Jerry credit for recognizing this and being so brutally honest about himself.
My favorite scenes in the Lewis version: Julius' coming to class hung over after a night as Buddy Love and his reactions to such things as someone chewing gum, or writing on a blackboard. Another highlight is Buddy's continuous interruptions of the Dean of the college as he is trying to do Shakesphere's "To be or not to be", and Julius' visit to Vic Tanney's.
This is considered Jerry's masterpiece for good reason. Even non-fans seem to like this one.

Natural Born Killers
Oliver Stone ruined what should of been another classic Quentin Tarrantino flick. First and foremost, I would have Tarrantino direct the movie or at least have one of his friends like Robert Rodriguez or Roger Avery(Guys who understand Tarrantino's vision)
Juliet Lewis was fine as the psychotic heroine Mallory, but I did not like Woody Harrelson in his role. (this is coming from a Cheers fan too) Leonardo Dicaprio might have been a better choice as Mickey. Courtney Love would've made a great Mallory as well.

Let's see, I'd redo... Not Another Teen Movie. I'd actually give it a PLOT!!! I'd also redo The Associate and take Bebe's ass outta there  And I would redo Lolita and cast myself as that 14 year old nymphet. Who dates Jeremy Irons. :D

The reason NATM didnt have a plot is because it was spoofing teen movies. If it actually HAD a plot, it wouldn't be a spoof...cause if the original movie didn't have a plot either...yeah
