Rueben Trapped

Does anyone out there think that Thelma trapped the Reverend into marrying her?

I don't think so. There was that one episode where Thelma left Ruben to follow her career dream. And after they were together, he seemed like a pretty attentive and caring boyfriend then husband. But even though I think he loved her eventually and was slightly attracted to her, I don't think he was ever IN LOVE with her like she was with him. But those are my thoughts from the verry little i saw after they were together.

Thelma did not trap the Rev.! Was she determined? Yes! But there were a few times she wanted to give up. One episode that proved he wasn't trapped was when the Rev. was approached by the woman he was supposed to marry years earlier, yet he left her at the altar. She wanted to re-kindle their relationship and even stripped for him at his apartment, yet he claimed his love for Thelma and turned the woman down (I forget her name). So he definitely wasn't trapped; he wanted to marry her!

so does Thelma ever have any doubts about the way the Rev. feels. From what I saw, she calmed down after they started dating then tensed up again after they were married. it must have been hard on them while Thelma was in the Army.

i have to agree with everyone, i don't think reuben would have let himself be trapped. he fought thelma hard!
