My fave Stephen King movie is Misery. I liked the book, too. Did anyone see the film The Shining? It was a three parter, I think, that was on in July. I thought it was one of the most retarded films I had ever seen. Does anyone know if the book The Shining was any better?

Books:
1.The Shining
2.It
Movies:
1.Pet Sematary
2.The Shining (1980)
Stephen King is really talented. Pet Sematary still scares the crap out of me! It's caused by watching such a film at a young age... Pascow, Zelda! AH! 'I'll twist your back and you'll never get out of bed again! Never get out of bed again!' - 'Rachel! Rachel'. Ah! Although Pascow was supposed to be good, he was creepy. And, he kept Deteriorating! yuck. Well, bye now.

Umm, they remade 'The Shining' in 1997. It was a version made for TV, so lotsa good stuff was cut out. Yeah, and it re-aired in July...I thought it was okay. The 1980 version, with Jack Nicholson is WAY better! And the book is great too.

I LOOOVED the TV version. It was 3 installments whereas the 1980 movie was, what, a couple of hours or less? King even said that the TV version was much more like the book.
I for one have no desire to see the Jack Nicholson version. I saw the end of it, and I don't care for the actress's portrayal of the woman at all. She seemed much too mousey and meek, not stronger like Rebecca DeMornay's portrayal---she really stood her ground against her husband, and made you pull for her more. It just seemed so much more believeable and realistic to me.
And the topiaries? That was brilliant. The 1980 film didn't have that, and I think that's one of the most original, eerie touches of the TV movie (and it came from the book).

That's what I was thinking.
Well, my fav movie of his is probably The Green Mile, & my fav book is called (I think) The Girl who Loved Tom Robinson It's about a little girl who gets lost in the woods & something is watching her, & the only way she keeps from goin crazy is by listening to baseball games on her radio. Her fav player was named Tom Robinson, or something like that.

::shivers::
That movie It seriously had a MAJOR impact on me...and it was good at ALL. Let see...lol I saw it when I was about 11 I think during the summer @ my babysitters. From the moment I saw "It" with balloons in the credits @ the beginning, I was freaked. Throughout the WHOLE movie I had everyone let me know when IT was coming so I could cover my eyes lolol. That clown scared me to DEATH. I even ran into the bathroom one day so freaked out by it. lol. For about, oh, 2-3 weeks I had clown nightmares EVERY NIGHT. Any clown, Ronald McDonald etc. Then I went through that phase where I believed IT was "real" lol. Like @ night Id be freaked thinking it was under my bed and stuff. Also, whenever I went to a book store, I avoided the horror section. Its been on TV a couple times and I dont even TURN to that station, I refuse to watch it, even today. Im 18 now and (finally) got over that fact that its a stupid clown lol (yeah...I got over it @ like 15 16 years old!!! lolololol). Still to this day whenever I see the movie @ like a WalMart I ALWAYS jump, then I just stare @ it and it doesnt look @ creepy. I want to see it again just to see what I was so afraid of, but the way I was so freakishly effected by it, I cant!!! lol. Seriously, I was like 10 years old--you can imagine what thats like!!! Im still a freaked out by it though. Seriously lolol, I probably could have used a little council session (well, probably not..maybe just a hypnosis!! hehe). I dunno...I guess there are things that just set certain people off like all other fears. Im not afraid of clowns at all...I dont avoid McD's or anything lol...but "IT" is a completly different story. Yeah, sorry to bore all of you...I had nothing else better to do so I just rambled on about my child problems lol;)

My favorite Stephen King movie is The Shining. I saw it when it first came out, and I had the creeps for days. When it comes on TV now, it holds me hostage every time.
Jack Nicholson's performance as Jack Torrance was chilling. Something tells me he must a little off in real life to act that nuts onscreen--just a bit too believable, lol.
The book's ending and the movie ending were different. I'm told the Overlook Hotel blows up at the end in the book.
I love King's book, Cujo, about the rabid dog--the movie was good too. Again, vastly different endings. The boy died in the book and survived in the movie version.

I've read, The Shining, Salem's Lot, Pet Cemetary and Misery. Of those 3 books, Salem's Lot was the best.
Of movies, I've seen:
Carrie (1976)
The Shining (1980)
Cujo (1983)
Christine (1983)
Firestarter (1984)
Salem's Lot (1979 TV-Miniseries)
Misery (1990)
It (1990 TV-Miniseries)
The Stand (1994 TV-Miniseries)
The Langoliers (1995 TV-Miniseries)
The Shining (1997 TV-Miniseries)
Storm of the Century (1999 TV-Miniseries)
Rose Red (2002 TV-Miniseries)
Of the feature films, released in theatres, the best has to be The Shining (1980), this version should really be referred to as Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, it really shouldn't be compared to the book, since it's nothing like it beyond the basic premise. Stephen King's attempt in 1997 was good when you compare it only to the book but when you compare the book, mini-series and feature film, the feature film far surpasses all of them.
Of the mini-series', Salem's Lot and It are the two best thus far.
